Great idea, but the game is very short, it would be nice to see it continued! The 3d graphics are great but the combination with pixel art is a bit unnatural. Great game overall, especially for a 48-hour jam! BTW, chess fanboy :)
Thank you! We were kinda going for billboarding with 2D pixel sprites in 3D world. The art could definitely be improved and we will for sure if we were to make it into a full game. I'm glad you liked and hey I'm a chess fanboy as well ;)
Thanks for the feedback btw :)
The way of executing the idea is quite good, however it seems very short to me, I understand that the time was not enough either, but you wanted a little more complexity that would make the game last a little longer, it would have been perfect, but in general it is very good
Thank you for the words of encouragement. Really means a lot. Actually some meta progress was part of our early game plan but couldn't get to it in time. It will surely be implemented if we ever decide to turn it into a full game. Do you have any ideas on how to increase the complexity or other stuff you'd like to see implemented in the game?
Thanks for the feedback :)
Good idea, something else that occurs to me is that there are several heroes that have different ways of attacking and that accordingly it is more efficient to use one type of minions or another, it would also be great if we could improve the minions in the same game, such as giving it more life, speed, strength, etc.
Amazing suggestions. I didn't think about having multiple heroes before. This could turn into an interesting gameplay element. Some player units might be strong against some specific hero but weak against other hero and vice versa, so the player will have to utilize the troops wisely. And upgrading our units would also be a great addition. Thanks a lot for taking time to help us out. Greatly appreciated :)
Simple, interesting and enjoyable! I liked the art as well. Perhaps, though, it could have been more challenging.
Glad you liked the game and visuals. Yea I agree the game doesn't provide much of a challenge as of now. But that could be changed in the future. If you got any ideas on how to make it more challenging then I'd love to hear it.
Thanks you for the feedback :)
Well done finishing the game! It was a little simple, but like you said, 48 hours is not a lot of time! I would like the enemy fighting back and some more involved way of making money, but otherwise a solid game!
Thank you for playing the game. Those are some pretty nice suggestions. Enemy kinda fights back but looks like it doesn't seem quite obvious. If you got time I'd like to know what other stuff you'd like to see in the game if we decide to turn it into a full game?
Thanks for the feedback :)
Nice game ! It would have been nice to have an xp system to have a choice of upgrading minions. Good work !
glad you loved our game, yeah xp system could be good option, thank you for the feedback!
Simple, but fun! Personally, I think you should make the game a bit harder. Great game!
Glad you enjoyed the game. Thanks for the suggestion and feedback :)
Cool game, I especially liked the graphical style, the blend of 2D and 3D was pretty cool. Buying 2 queens as soon as possible is basically a guaranteed victory, haha!
I'm glad you liked the game and the visuals. And 2 Queens is by far my preferred way to win as well XD
Thanks for the feedback :)
that was fun. played multiple games buying only one type of units. Queens and rooks are overpower and knights are the least cost effective. if you polish it you could compute damage per sec of units taking speed into account and balance it
Glad you liked it. Some balancing is definitely required. That's a great suggestion btw, would definitely consider it if we ever decide to turn it into a full game. What other stuff would you like to see implemented in the game if we turn it into a full game?
Thanks for the feedback btw :)
maybe some way to bait/trap the beast. Instead of stopping by itself you justify that it stops by your actions.
Maybe you could have more control over your minions somehow. maybe you can bait/trap or block them also and free them when the beast is close. maybe with bying special items or a temporary commander. Or gaining temporary control over a minion leading the others for a little while.
This way youd try to organize your forces
Then a minimap would be great so you know where your forces are.
Know, dont go and turn it into an rts though! have fun!
Great ideas man. The traps/bait would definitely provide the players to come up with some interesting strategies to take down the enemy. The minimap would be quite helpful. Also love the idea of having a commander which gives temporary control over the troops. I was thinking of giving player some control over troops but it might've definitely turned the game into an rts lol. Commander would be a great alternative. Thanks for the heads up about not turning it into an rts. And thanks for taking time to help us out. Really appreciate it.
Hey cool game! I really like the idea and a great theme for the jam! I also beat it!! Though I have a feeling its probably hard to lose lol. It did seem a little zoomed in so I had no idea where my guys were most of the time so it might be nice if the player could either zoom out or move the camera. I guess it doesn't matter too much though since your guys just follow him around! Also did the chess pieces have any abilities other than the more expensive being faster/stronger?
Anyways very good job on this game!!
Glad you enjoyed the game and congrats on beating it :D And yea the state the game is in right now, it's quite hard to lose. The chess pieces currently have only 3 attributes namely health, attack and speed. The costly the chess piece, the higher the stats. Thanks for the suggestion about camera. Say, what other stuff would you like to see added in the game if we ever decide to turn it into a full game?
Thanks for the feedback btw :)
Hmmmm, if you were to make it into a full game... I'd probably say either units that are very unique and each have very special abilties, or a bunch more different units that you can unlock throughout the game (or both! Though lots more different units might be tough if you still to chess pieces). Otherwise just some more unique bosses, and then maybe if its a big game upgradable units throughout the campaign.
Again good job and good luck with the game!
Nice suggestions. Some diverse units with upgrades would provide for some quite interesting gameplay and will definitely increase replayability. I also quite like the idea for advanced units to be locked in the beginning but would be available as the battle progresses. And you're right just sticking to chess pieces might end up being in the way of having diverse units. Thanks for taking time to help us out and for the words of encouragement :)
This is a cool game! I would love to see the concept built beyond the game jam
Thank you. Would definitely make it into a full game if enough people want it ^^
This is an interesting concept, but since the hero doesn't seem(?) to fight back, it feels inevitable. A jam game will always have limitations, but maybe a shorter timer would have added more tension? Good effort!
Thank you! And hero kinda fights back but yea it doesn't "seem" like he is ":D Thanks for the timer suggestion and for the feedback :)
Interesting idea. I would've liked some more progression elements like upgrades like I've seen in some of the other games like this, but like you say in the credits there's only so much you can do in a jam. The sprites and 3d mix together well. Good job!
Upgrades were part of our early plan but couldn't be implemented within the given time. If we ever decide to rework this idea into a proper game, the progression would definitely be a part of it. Do you have any other suggestions or ideas you'd like to see implemented if we turn turn it into a full game? Oh and I'm glad you like our game and art style.
Thank you for the feedback :)
This was pretty fun. I like using the chess pieces, cause it makes it easy to know what each piece should be worth.
Thank youu. Glad you liked it ^^
very enjoyable!
Thank you :)
neat idea!
a game jam is a challenge to show yourself what you can do in the constraint of time. You ve done well, you have all of these skills!
Thank youu. Yup one major flaw was that the plan kinda was out of the scope for a 48 hours game jam, so a lot of features and mechanics couldn't be implemented. But hey, it'd be a nice reminder for future jams to keep the scope in check "^^
Thanks for the feedback btw :)
visuals were awesome, had alot of fun, 10/10
Thank you. I'm glad you enjoyed it ^^
The idea is cool, the NPCs may need a bit of balancing to make it really challenging but that was nice to play.
Thanks, glad you liked it. And yup balancing requires some attention ":D Thanks for the feedback :)
It's was fun
Thanks :D
Nice work, I enjoyed the level's visuals :3
Thank youuu :)
i love the concept and style, these chess figures are so fun to watch :)
would be happy to try the game again when the enemies are balanced, rught now it was super easy to win :D
and i would possibly think about some other font in the interface, as this one looks not very consistent (especially commas and capital letters), so it looks just a bit odd :)
all in all, a great entry!
Thanks man, glad you enjoyed it. Balancing definitely requires a lot of attention ":D and thanks for letting us know about the font, would definitely work on it as well. Btw, what other stuff would you like to see added in the game if we ever decide to turn it into a full game?
Again, thanks for the feedback :)
