Downloaded but got a "Unable to parse Build/gmtk2024.framework.js.gz!" error :( Was looking forward to trying it out
Movement felt a little slow. I wasn't sure what to do in the house, so I just walked around and took pictures.
Not sure if it fits the theme. But the game is done pretty well.
Gotta review this one slightly honestly. This looks like another one of the hundreds of PSX style horror games already on Itch.io. The relation to the theme is barely hinted at in any way, a casual player wouldn't even think of anything regarding scale in this.
Gameplay wise it's simply a walking simulator, lacks much of the building of fear and depth and ends super abruptly with no reward or scare factor whatsoever.
I believe a slight more relation to the theme, having the camera be a little more useful and working on overall more on it gameplay wise would have helped greatly. It feels as if this game was already thought of and made with free assets before the theme was even released
I feel that being overly critic over a game from a game jam is always kinda uncalled for. But I feel why you would feel this way since I do too fail to see the relation with the theme, which leads the cynic in me to think as you said, this was mostly premade.
Cheers
Stunningly polished for the short jam timespan. I'm blown away by this! Also, that's the same model of Polaroid camera I have in my desk drawer! Really fun to see it brought to life here. Excellently spooky, and the kind of thing I'd expect to see on the Haunted PS1 Demo Disc compilations! Awesome work!
Nice environment, you really feel the horror,
Well done!
Had some trouble running this on my macOs :(
Interesting game. I'm not really a big fan of horror games, but I found the idea pretty creative.
A cool horror game, or mini-experience. The style is great.
But the "growing and growing" you describe in relation to the theme isn't even shown on screen. So the game feels pretty far removed from the theme.
REALLY COOL ATMOSPHERE!!! I GOT STUCK IN THE BASEMENT BC I JUMPED DOWN THE HOLE, BUT I ACCEPT MY FATE....
Same hahaha
Perfect short horror experience. Excellent work. It wasn't clear how it fit the theme, but I understand how the theme is implied.
Excellent experience, though I don't see it very much fitting the theme
Unfortunately, nothing but the camera rendered for me and everything was laggy. Any fix for this?
While I don't really think it fit the theme, it was interesting to play. I glitched into the basement the first time and had to restart. I think it glitched me into the floor at the end in the attic, but I did finish the game. Nice creepy vibes! It was a bit disappointing as I was expecting some monsters but aside from taking pictures nothing really happens. It was fun nonetheless, nice work!
Oh this is so fun!
As a short PSX experience: perfect, beautiful, creepy, loved it
For Built to Scale: I think the theme was very very loose. I would have loved to see some gameplay mechanic utilizing scale in some definition that makes it stand out
Ooh, that was creepy! The models are used proficiently, and the picture-taking objective is a good framing device for the narrative. Good work!
Kinda felt like you were going to make this game regardless of the theme... With that being said I had a good time, love the visuals and got a couple mini scares, so nice job.
Very cool aesthetic, even though I didn't feel like the theme was implemented into the game that much, and also as a fun fact I technically managed to bug the ending a little bit by not getting all the way up lol
I love the PSX aesthetics! I didn't get how it fit into the theme, but had fun playing. It's very impressive that you were able to craft such a nice experience in just 4 days!
