The style of the game is just the bomb. I really like the feelings this game evokes. Something completely unusual and bright!

How does your game fit the theme?
We incorporated the theme “Built to Scale” in our main mechanic. In “Bureau of Appropriately Sized Facial Features” players change the scale of the game characters’ facial features by grabbing them with a mouse click and dragging their mouse left and right across the screen. The goal is to match the ratio of facial features as presented in the Beauty Standards. The game is built to enable players to scale facial features.

Such a unique art style and palette. So much personality in this game. I like how the standards keep changing and these bizarre looking people keep swapping their ratios around. Very neat concept!
Great game! I didn't get what to do when two of the same items appear (like hair, or mouth), but I liked it! It's one of the weirder games I played, though not the weirdest - in a good way, of course!
hi, thank you for your review! weird, but not the weirdest is just what we were going for ;)
if you are referring to the same facial feature appearing in the list twice; this is a feature we specifically implemented to have the scaling of one facial feature influence all others and once the list becomes longer this will have a nice ripple effect, where you have to adjust almost every facial feature to make the scales just right.
I second everything Andynobel said! And I will add this, this game is a perfect jam game and I love to see that, it's a simple gameloop, that is fun and unexpected, it plays quickly yet it explore every aspect of the gameplay, and it has so much personnality! This game probably wouldn't exist without this jam (or not in this form) and that's why I love game jams. Kudos for the beautiful art and game!
Edit : THE SOUND EFFECT OMG added so much character, it was so perfect I am in awe and very inspired. Sounds effects really add a lot congrats on the person who worked on choosing them and adding them to the game, I know it takes work :D
Wow impressive art style and polish, clever and simple concept, very funny too, well done!
Wow this is a very entertaining concept that's been so well executed too. I appreciated the little pictures of past customers that pinned to the board.
I like how you can give your customers funny faces in this game. XD It reminds me of the "Face Lift" mini-game from the Mario Party series.
One of my favorite ideas that I've ever seen come out of a game jam! It's inspiring when a team can remix a feature that's typically not considered gameplay into a central mechanic- even more so when that mechanic bolsters the game's narrative and theme. Having the "rules" for beauty change constantly and become progressively more specific is not just a device for ramping up the difficulty- it also highlights the absurd futility of chasing beauty's ever-moving goalpost. There were times when I was confused by the negative ratings I received from customers, but it's the same confusion that I feel when a real-life person expresses dissatisfaction with their appearance despite conforming to beauty standards. I can't say whether the inconsistent feedback was a design choice or a result of my poor play, but either way, the absurdity lent to my experience by that feedback helped drive the message home. Also, the art direction has personality for days! The grungy looking, cobbled-together faces are a key component of what makes this deconstructive work so powerful and funny. I love video games. I love this video game. Thanks for making a really good video game!
Very funny! I liked the idea. I got bored of the game loop very quickly, though I did find it interesting the first 10 or so faces. Congrats!
I love this interpretation of the theme and the humorous critique of beauty standards! I also love the art direction and how you even applied it to the itch page! I did have trouble understanding that I was being asked for ratios at first (there’s quite a bit of space between the digits and colon), and I didn’t realize the powder(?) was the stamp of approval at first + that just clicking it and releasing it stamps. After my first run where I got shut down for malpractice, I chose to end on a high note and closed up shop once people were coming in with already-scaled features.
Really loved the direction you all took the theme! Insane levels of polish on this and the art style is really unique and makes the whole thing stand out! Really enjoyed my time playing!
Damn the style of this is in another level!! It gives me 90´s nickelodeon vibes and I´m here for it. The colour palette is just immaculate and the sound is so urban an cool. Loved it!
I'm sure know that's a not job for me. Poor guys, i hope they won't regret coming ahah
Very creative and cool concept ! Love the art! Cool sounds. I enjoyed purposfully giving them bad makeovers, but this one was by the standard!
Such a stylish and creative application of the theme, very cool and subversive. I am absolutely hopeless at gauging ratios so didn't manage to get super far, but I enjoyed what I saw! 😊
