Like the particular theme implementation!

I love the style and a simple gameplay. This is a nice little arcade, which easy to learn, but hard to master — good sign for the game!

Also try our game too, please :3

Really fun game! the mechanics are very fun to work with, and the learning curve is really well made. awesome work!

I really enjoyed the aesthetic you went with! The gameplay was fun, but I wish the screen transitions were like 10x the current speed, and I never felt incentivized to use the large scale mode - maybe there's some additional game mechanic that could be added to help with that, such as a shield buff or a heavily increased turn speed? It's also cool how the difficulty ramps up the longer you go, it makes for a great challenge!

Thanks for playing, and the positive feedback!
Yeah, originally the idea was that you had to hit barrels and crates using the big hit, but I couldn't implement it on time.
Cheers.

Great work on the auto-generated maps. It was fun how to stitched them together.

Nice job :)

Very interesting! I wonder if there is something about this, abandoned building? I could see it as some kind of roguelite where you unlock story elements. Great job!

A great example of what elegance is! With a small number of elements you managed to create a very interesting gameplay

I like everything - the aesthetics, the sounds and music, the idea of endlessly changing islands, the ship size changing along with its speed, I like that the player has to keep in mind where his steering wheel is pointing

I was upset by only one thing, which is very important in such games:

- when the player dies you need to make a death screen and show him his record, otherwise the player will not even know how many points he had, I would like to be able to send here a screenshot with my record (about 30 points), but I can't :(

I know!!! I was rushing to get everything done at last minute and couldn't manage to finish that one bit. It's already done though, so as soon as the cometition ends I will upload the new patch.
Thanks for the review! Cheers.

That was pretty fun! Brought back some memories of Overboard from my childhood years. The vibes were good and it was smooth sailing from start to finish. Nice work.

I really loved the chill vibe + the movement system. Nice game!

Thanks for making such a charming game! The sailing mechanics are really relaxing, and the way the game gradually speeds up keeps it engaging. I especially liked the arcade-like feel with the changing map—it added a nice layer of unpredictability that kept me on my toes.

The music and graphics really complement the overall vibe, making it both cozy and fun to play. The transitions between the map parts felt a little slow at times, but it didn’t take away from the enjoyable experience. Great work on this, and I appreciate you sharing it with us!

thank you so much! Your comment does make me a happier person :)

I found the controls really difficult to manage, but that's not necessarily an issue. It depends if you want it to be difficult and out of control.

Developer

I got that comment commonly during development, I did make some changes but couldn't figure out how to make the controls obviously intuitive... Thanks for reaching out!

So what’s making it hard to control is the momentum of the ship. The ship accelerates really sharply and it takes a little bit too long to initiate a turn relative to the speed it’s travelling at. As a result, rather than gently steering around obstacles, it shoots way too far to the side and then you have to constantly try to avoid overcorrecting and careening into a wall.

The solution is probably to reduce the rate of acceleration and thus momentum of the ship. Run some playtests with different acceleration and speed variables and see how it goes.

Developer(+1)

I designed the movement to be that way to be analog to a real ship's movement. To make it more controlled I implemented the X button, which slows you down, at a cost: you are easier to hit.
Maybe a way to fix this problem would be to add a fixed top-speed, in which when it is reached, no more accelerating is done.

Submitted(+1)

That could help. And like I said in the first comment, it's also okay to just keep it and let it be difficult. You're right that it feels like captaining a ship on a super windy day, and if that's what you want, you're good.

Sailing's very relaxing :)

Quickly got hang of the controls, I like how the game gradually speeds up

The way the map changes with every turn is very arcade-like. Makes the game simpler and adds to the action, it's fun!

Graphics and music were super cute, and the actual gameplay loop is very satisfying. I didnt really know what to do once I got to the pirate ship though.

Would be very grateful if you tried our game!

Developer

Was the map randomly generated? It's cool that it seems like it changes every time

Developer(+1)

yes, it is. I would've liked to have added more tiles though...
