This is pretty cool! I'm impressed with how much there is, and I especially like the animations, just the idle animations alone make this game come alive!
My only concern would be the difficulty of the game, but this can often be mitigated the more you play and learn the best strategies.
The dice upgrades is a really cool concept! The tooltips on enemies is a nice addition, tooltips on dice might've been nice too, though there's only so much we can do with such a short amount of time.
Thanks a lot! I appreciate the compliments and criticism! :D
Great core game loop, and something i could see myself replaying over and over again to see how far I could get. Very impressive for only one person in 48 hours!
Thanks! :D
Very cool concept and nice execution! Was really fun to play! I really liked the artstyle as well, good job!
Really impressive to be able to do all of that in a 48 hour jam! Great submission
Really like the idea of using the number of pips and the type of pips to determine attacks! A nice quality of life would be some sort of display over each die, displaying what each one has.
Thanks! I planned to make a hover information over the dice, but didn't have time XD
Very nice! Loving the die customisation, the locking die mechanism and overall intuitive gameplay / UI. I think a little balancing is required, some sfx bugs I think and minor issues that are common in gamejam submissions. But I see the potential and if you work at it after the jam, you may have a really fun game on your hands! Top marks.
Thank you very much for the review! :D
What a banger ! The concept is something I've already seen in that jam, but the execution, OH GOD the execution.
Customisable dices, shops, rewards, 7 different types of sides, a map with branching pathes, the animations... Really, really good entry.
My only complain is about the difficulty curve, I've played quite a lot and never understood how I was supposed to absorb 20+ damage inflicted every turn with a tank in front : it would require either insane luck in the rewards, or it's just impossible xD. But it's expected for a 50h game jam, you obviously don't have time for fine-tuning everything =).
Also, please make rewards REAL rewards ^^'. One sword and one shield are NOT rewards, and shops are too occasional for the additionnal gold to be worth ^^'.
That being said, that was really cool and the level of polishing is insane. Probably the game I spent the most time on so far. If you update it, please ping me, I would love to play a more refined version =).
Wow, thank you so much! I'm really glad you liked it, will definitely want to improve this in the near future :D
Really enjoyed this game! Visuals and sounds are great, gameplay feels smooth, it was really nice. The only thing is difficulty scales up pretty quick, I player a few runs and I always get stuck in the same place. One enemy blocking around 10 and the other dealing 10-12 dmg per turn seems impossible. Anyways, this is such a cool game, amazing work!
Thank you! The difficulty is very hard that I can't even beat it either XD
As an avid player of slay the spire, I absolutely loved the gameplay of this entry. The upgrading of the dice especially felt very intuitive. Great job!
Thank you! :D
When I initially saw the screenshots I wasn't too sure about the game, but this was actually really well done! I love upgrading my dice, very Dice Forge-like. It was actually a difficult game too! I definitely lost lol.
The only improvement I would suggest is that the firework sound effect felt like it went a bit too long (a screen or two too far). Beyond that, this game was perfect and just ready for expansion!
Overall, I really enjoyed the game and am actually going to give it another go after I post this comment! Nice job!
Thank you so much! :D
Ok, after a second play through, a couple more notes:
I noticed the enemy's shields carry over after each round, yet the player's shields reset each round it seemed. Also, there came a point where right at the start of the round that the enemy's were hitting 13+ total between them, and even with like the best dice it didn't seem possible to keep up with them.
Still great game!
Thanks for the insights! The block system was actually made like that, following various different roguelite deckbuilders like slay the spire and backpack hero. The balance, however was completely off XD
Great game! I like how you have the option to re roll you dices and you can choose which ones to keep! The music was very enjoyable and the art fit very well into the game! Good job!
Thanks!
Dice the spires!
A really nice adaptation of slay the spire with dices,
Everything is there, strategy with your "deck" (face on the dice), money, max hp, and different element of attack.
The polish is on point, and the arts, well, it has its own atmosphere and to be honest, I liked that haha!
Was funny to play, well done!
Thank you so much!
I love how the dice mechanic is embedded into the game. After the first victory it is even more clear!
Nice job!
Thanks! : D
I like the art - and the locking mechanic is something I didn't see a lot in this jam is nice. A cool extension of the mechanic would be having to worry about timing of actions in a turn based system - but otherwise really neat and looks good! :)
Thanks for your review! :D
well made imo. I had fun the entire time.
Good fun and interesting little game that has a good system in place. But parts of it didn't read too well and I hope to refine the newbie guide. I gave it a good review.
Come and try our game if you wish.
Thanks for the review! :D
Nice submission, the game is really well polished, from animations to the possibility to upgrade your moves. You even added some life quality features like the possibility to turn the music off or to speed the animations. I didn't get far before dying, but that's fine.
Thank you for the review! :D
A very polished and fun game. Love the art and the music especially the animations with the attacking was a nice little touch. As said before the game is a bit unbalanced for example you would get turns were they would do around 17 damage and it's almost impossible to defend against. It would also be cool if I could see what each special side would do but I fully understand that you only had two days to make it and you still did really good in the little amount of time. The map was really good as well and you had lots of elements of a roguelite which is really impressive that you were able to do within the small time given. An enjoyable submission. Good luck on the jam!
Thanks for the review! For what the dice do, I never really explained it, but it is there if you pause the game XD. And as for the balance, I 100% agree, even I couldn't get anywhere near beating the game (I never playtested it and it was made in the last hour of the jam). Thanks for the appreciation once again :D
I wonder where you got this idea from? ;)
Who cares, it's really well implemented. I don't understand how the rewards system works though tbh. That was confusing.
But really fun, and a nice clean path through and stuff. Very clever.
Great job getting this done in 48 hours... Good luck!
Thank for the review! The gameplay is mostly inspired by slay the spire and king of tokyo. Yeah, the reward system was never explained :,) but I tried to make those arrows to indicate that you can click them. Cheers! :D
Very interesting idea with changing your dice faces, it was just a bit too unbalanced. I didn't realise what the dice changing mechanic was until after I had chosen, could have been clearer. A bit of tweaking and a robust tutorial would go a long way.
Thank you for the review! The game was never playtested, that's why the balance was completely off XD all my time was spent implementing features, but never the actual gameplay :,) Thank you again :D
