This is an excellent submission. I had similar thoughts about combining dice for a game (in terms of numbers not classes) but I couldn't figure out a mechanic around it. Really simple to pick up and play.
Thanks!
This is probably one of my favorite games out of this jam. It's so addicting and I spend some good time trying to figure out all the classes I could get. Not only does it look appealing despite its simplicity, it is also really well balanced and easy to understand. You really made an amazing game!
Thank you so much! I'm really glad you liked it :)
This was amazing! At first I thougth it was just a neat game with dices, then I realized I could combine dices when I ran out of spaces, and then recombine dices again until I reached more advanced and specialized classes.
I kinda messed around with classes and ended up with a bunch of different dices and thougth it would make me fail in later fight but it didn't. Really appreciate the balancing in normal mode.
Cute and simple art. But I also see why so many people said it looked like Slice and Dice. The music and sound effects are really good too.
Thanks for playing and for the feedback!
I had very little time to playtest all the classes and balance encounters, so I'm really glad you enjoyed the game's difficulty :)
This was really Incredible. I'm really stoked to go back and play it through a few more times now just to see the different dice combos. Absolutely loved my gambler dice and 4 Jugglers, spamming rerolls and cantrips.
Cantrip runs are the best. I tweaked a few things for a post jam patch that made them even more satisfying :)
This was a fantastic game, wow!
I assumed there was only 6 classes based off of combinations of dice, but then realized the base makes a difference. I didn't experiment too much farther but are there 27 classes?!
I had a lot of fun building a rogue/enchanter hand, and then stoked when I found the bard. This was my hard run, and I defeated the final boss without ever needing to select a die. On my normal run, I just kept re-rolling until I could hit 50.
Really satisfying game to play, and all of the polish and UI feels really good and immersive. Absolutely great work!
Holy, 513 block? Thanks for playing and for the feedback, I'm really glad you had fun :)
And yes, there are 27 classes (originally it was supposed to be 39, but I removed same type tier 2 combinations)
Super fun!! I played this game all the way through and loved the mechanics so much, especially combining the dice. It was so cool to see what they would mix and match into.
The music was nice and chill, and I feel like the scaling of difficulty was perfect throughout. (I played it on normal mode :) ) The only thing I had an issue with is sometimes my dice would land on top of each other, and it was a bit hard to see lol.
All in all, super fun. I thought I'd dislike the Gambler dice . . . . turned out to be my favorite.
Thanks for playing! I'm glad you had fun :)
Gambler dice is a bit overtuned, but its a lot o fun
Wow, this was incredible! Based on the comments (yours included) it sounds like I need to try slice&dice! Still, amazing work on this, love all the little bits of polish in the UI. I would definitely play more of this.
Thank you very much for playing and for the feedback :)
Had a whole bunch of fun playing this! I'd still much rather play Slice and Dice as it stands as they are almost the same game, except Slice and Dice has more of everything, lol. The visuals and music are really good hear and I liked the twist of only having a single player character and a much more controlled class progression compared to SnD. The main mechanics are kinda down to a tee the same as the original content, including the janky dice rolling physics, lol. I'm sure it can be developed further to break itself away more from SnD, it has potential and I really liked all the polish that went into it.
Thanks for the feedback! I'm glad you had fun :)
Slice&Dice is a much more complete (and really really good) experience, for sure. I've never seen any other dice game like it, so it was very difficult for me to steer away from it. I really tried to give it my own spin, but I felt the need to clarify I took heavy inspiration from it anyway.
Really awesome game -- had a lot of fun, congrats! Interesting concept with the merging of classes too!
I really enjoyed playing this game! Lots of fun with seeing how many different combinations there are!
I can't add much more that hasn't been said already. Incredible game, very more-ish, and exceptionally well put together and presented. Well done! When I realized I could merge dice together to create new classes, I was immediately hooked.
Enjoyed the game a lot. Easy to understand, but quickly realised there was more depth with certain dice combos (Look at Enchanter and cantrip die). Would like to see some for of compendium, so you could see what die combinations you might have tried or even missed. Only hiccup I ran into was the game temporarily freezing when a debuff was applied for the first time (I was playing the browser version).
Would love to see the game expanded after the Jam, has a lot of potential.
Thanks for the feedback! I'm glad you had a good time
I really wanted to add a compendium, but I felt it would take too much time. The game freezing is just the particles loading (I forgot to do it at the start of the game). I'm fixing some stuff for a post jam update. Probably not gonna work on this for a while after that.
Really nice design and graphics, chill sounds and music, all works really well. Had the game stutter on me sometimes (when getting poisoned or some other new effect is introduced) but it did continue shortly after.
Thanks for playing! I forgot to load all the VFX at the start of the game, so when you first get poisoned or burned (or anything that spawns particles) the game freezes for a few moments. My bad
I'm back after hearing that the game is a lot like another game, Slice & Dice. I didn't know about that one so I went and bought it to try it out. So your homage made a sale for them.
After playing S&D a few rounds, I can honestly say there are some things I like better in your game: I like the slightly easier difficulty by default. That hits my sweet spot. I like the way the player has more control over what classes they'll get. I like your arrow drag mechanic, which feels more visceral than click, move, click. I like your hover tooltips, which give me information without unnecessary mouse-clicking. I like your unified HP, so I don't have to manage block for specific characters. It's a bit more casual than dice & slice, but there's room in the world for a variety of game difficulties.
There's nothing wrong with piling onto a game genre. Duke Nukeum was a clone of Doom, way back in the day. There's a thousand Slay the Spire variants now.
On the other hand, your dice assets do look very similar. So maybe more reskin could have been in order.
Overall though, I think you've improved on that game in many ways. Now you just need to add a bunch of content , maybe reskin the dice, and get it on Steam.
Thank you so much for the feedback! I wonder how many people bought it after playing my game. I recommended it in most of the comments... maybe I should ask for commissions?
Jokes aside, thanks for pointing out what you liked about my game and design choices compared to Slice&Dice. I think you are right about the assets, I should have made them more distinct. At first glance, it really looks like the assets from S&D. I'll redraw them after the jam.
