Great interpretation of the theme! This is a great idea. I like the "minigame" of tracing the weapons in order to affect their effectiveness. Like others, I ran into some performance issues but overall I think this is a good piece of work :)

I love tower defense. I love the idea of tracing the towers to place them. I really want to like this game, but I get stuck in draw mode while enemies destroy my house. :( I am old and slow, so that’s probably why…

Fun game! The drawing mechanic is really cool! I found it got a bit too easy once I got setup, and sometimes I would draw really well and get a bad score but then I would draw like one line and get 90%. I also funnily enough wish I could erase my own walls/towers to build a better defense sometimes.

If I draw too much, the game crashes, I discovered this when trying to draw two lines instead of one in an attempt to receive a better score :v

My only complaint is that the enemies appear very quickly at the beginning, there is barely time to 'see' the screen before the first one appears in the corner. Perhaps a preparation period of a few seconds would improve this point a lot.

Other than that, the game was very fun and interesting. Congrats!

There's definitely some bug with the eraser.

My whole computer's locking up, and it says memory is at 100%

From browser normal ~400mb, to over 12GB running the game, and it keeps counting up

You might not be freeing (or queue_free() ing ) some objects properly?

Super fun and original spin on the idea, often the theme is thrown into the game and doesn't really fit well but here it is a perfect implementation. The only thing that made the experience a bit worse is that I hade some performence issues, the game would sometimes lag and it crashed a few times too

Pretty fun idea! it works surprisingly well to draw the towers (although later it feels rather easy with some towers set up and no real pressure). Its funny that my average accuracy is similar good/bad, whether I take my time drawing or not

The cleanup mechanic is a nice touch and works well for limiting the space, but the usage feels a bit clumsy.

Overall a pretty good job!

There is nothing I could add to what the others already said.
It is overall just a greate game :)

It took me way too long to figure out you could do something other than drawing walls, but once I did... I had an absolute blast playing this game!

Original concept, fun fast-paced gameplay once you get started, simple but fitting graphics (loved that the elements change depending on how well you drew), nice background music.

There's definitely some balancing issues (as with any jam game), such as the cannons being way too strong for their cost (may just be balanced by not regening graphite while you draw the shapes?).

I also stumbled onto a pretty major bug once you hit those later waves where your health just starts regenerating faster than the enemies can make it drop, meaning you're essentially unkillable. The game is still running in the background as I write this and I'm currently on wave 22... and counting.  Just letting the enemies get to my home and die while my health drops to 99% and goes back up hehe.

Overall though, very fun game. Great job!

Just closed the game ~ 20mins later, on wave 31 😅

Thanks so much for taking the time for playing my game! I'm glad you had a lot of fun with it, as for the health... I'm pretty sure you had ZACH MODE on because it makes it so you never take damage.

hahahahaha! that explains a lot 😂 well, I did enjoy feeling really good at the game! I'll try again without Zach mode and see how I fare!

Well, at least I learned from my time in Zach Mode! Stopped at wave 18 because the difficulty had hit a plateau, but still a lot of fun! Definitely a much more challenging start without Zach Mode on 😅

This was very fun! I definitely had some lag as others have noted, but it wasn't too too bad (and also what I spent the last few hours of the jam trying to fix for mine lol, WebGL is hard..) Great game!

I liked the drawing mechanic, it was fun trying to get them drawn before they got to me.

Nice job

This game tactfully and considerately branches from the standard tiled, phase-based tower defence genre. The constant barrage of enemy erasers, graphite system, and freely-drawn walls help in the game's attempt to prompt decisions from the player. As for the items, they work well to maintain the spirit of the game: they cost graphite to draw, but don't pause the game when drawn. I appreciate the scoring mechanics of an item— the player must decide between speed and strength, since better drawn weapons will be more effective (though I must recommend the use of 0% bombs).

I truly enjoyed the fast-paced and well-balanced gameplay, especially Wave 10 and its eraser boss. The theming was great; it was a pleasure to compose the game theme for this. As all of Finnfert Co.'s  games, I should have a thorough wiki page with strategies on the Martian Melee Wiki soon!

Again, sorry to others for the frequent web crashes. We highly recommend that you download the game!

Really Cool concept!  On fortunately there were some performance issues (on web at least) that stopped me from being able to get too far.  If I can find the time, I'll try and download and give it another try!

Developer

Thanks so much! The performance issues have been a problem but thank you for playing!

This was fun! Unfortunately, the game froze twice on me, on wave 4 and then again on wave 3. I think it was related to using the eraser. Still, some neat mechanics at work in this submission.

Developer

Sorry for the performance issues I spent the last 4 hours of the jam fixing them,  but thanks so much and I'm glad you enjoyed the game!

Cool game. I loved the drawing mechanic to create the placements. The art was also super unique and fit the game well. Good job, great entry!

Developer

Thanks!
