Wow, very nostalgic. This is really well done. The monster fights with different effects and properties are superb. I really like the art for each monster. The music is the icing on the cake. Great job!
This game looks beautiful! Looks awesome. I'm on Mac so of course, I'm having trouble with even most HTML5 games unfortunately. Great work putting out a very beautiful game that everyone seems to love, though lol.
Cool game. The graphics and music was very reminiscent of old NES/SNES games, which I liked a lot.
I struggled a bit at first; then I went for the stun guy first, which allowed me to survive. The fact that you almost always take at least one hit was a concern; the healing guy would've been helpful to me early on, so I probably should've confronted them first!
Cool idea, good execution. Nice work!
Great idea having to defeat enemies to unlock new abilities, allows for a great sense of progression in such a short game!
Lovely game that felt a lot like pokemon in its graphics and battle style! I got gooee and moskito back-to-back, which for me were extremely useful - a hard hitter and healing for the second/third turns to finish the monsters off. I found it so cool that each and every monster had a different ability (I did that for my entry as well)
I was surprised by the last battle hehe.
The style and colors fit the game super well and go in hand with the laid back, fun narrative. Great job, super polished experience!
That was really fun! It took me a couple tries, though.
Cool game :)
Great game! I like the kind of stripped back battle system for this, and the writing and character design is really fun too.
Last mon always gets me ! Maybe I should change tactics...
Nice game, though! Simple but interesting gameplay and very cute art )
Thanks!
Did you go and talk to grandpa? He has one first aid kit for you after you recruit 2 monsters :)
Yeah, it helped me last until the final battle )
Maybe recruit mosquito sooner, for healing?
I found that the best tactic for me was recruiting Toxy the snake/worm thingy first, and using it once at the start of each battle (because poison is maybe a little bit too strong haha).
After that get Gooee as she deals the most damage and spam her attack, basically. She’ll make short work of pretty much everyone else ^^
Ha! I ignored Toxy competely )))
Great little Pokémon game, I played though both ending and really liked the use of the palette.
Very clean presentation. Audio and graphics fit well. The mood is great here. It’s a bit short, and seemed pretty easy – but I’d rather a game be too easy than too hard. I’m usually weary of text in this low of a resolution, but this read and looked great.
A really charming game. I Really like that the monsters are treated more as assists to the player as opposed to the Pokémon-like route of the player fighting with their monsters Specifically. Also, the grandfather's dialogue's pretty funny. The inclusion of multiple endings is pretty dope, as well.
While attempting to go for the genocide route, I kept accidentally recruiting defeated monsters, which required me to restart the game Many, many times. Some sort of buffer between tapping through the text box and selecting whether to recruit or kill a monster would've been really helpful.
All in all, this was a really nice game that I enjoyed playing multiple times. My biggest gripe was an issue that I could've solved if I just slowed down, so that means everything else was Very well put together. Very well done!
Thanks for the extensive review!
You know, I actually struggled with recruiting monsters when I wanted to kill them while play-testing… but I figured that was a me problem ^^’
I should make it so that neither button is focused at first.
Lovely game and nice color palette, really liked the idea of recruiting the monsters like on SMT Games, and each one has different skills
I love the visuals and the audio! It all meshes very well together. The gameplay is engaging as well; I like the choice between recruiting and killing the monsters. Great work!
It was interesting to make combos with monsters. Because of limited healing it's important to pick fights in a order, I like it. Got pacifist and genocide endings, genocide route feels dull as I just spawn attack but maybe thats the point.
Thanks! Yeah, I think something I could add would be skills as you gain levels, so that the genocide route has at least a bit more variety ^^
I like your game. You can basically decide to become very powerful by killing many monsters or recruit them to get many status effects you can inflict later. I like Mosquito the most.
The different endings give the game some replay value which is great but I would have expected more than just different dialogues.
The graphics and chosen color palette look great and the music doesn’t get repetitive too soon.
Hey, thanks! Yeah I actually wanted to have more meaningful differences between the different endings (basically different final bosses), but I didn’t have enough time and had to stop to try and polish the rest of the game instead ^^
Very cool. Neat idea with the killing to level up vs. recruiting idea. Animation, art and music all top notch, well done!
A lovely game, I love the palette. So cool to see the monsters jamming almost on synch with the music :p and it was funny both ingame and on your itch page, well done !
Very cute! Nice palette, nice art, nice music! Love it!
I like the monsters visuals ! The final fight was fun (mayybe a bit too simple). Congrats for making it !
Thanks! Yeah, the final fight’s difficulty changes a lot based on how many monsters you chose to kill, since that makes you level up ^^
In fact, since I did not spend enough time balancing the difficulty, killing every monster is pretty much the easiest way to beat this game … but let’s not think too deeply about that :D
