Good game! Interesting concept ang great visuals! Found a little uncomfortable to press W+S/S+W

Funny and creative concept!.
Grapically look great, in special the effects,  but  i  think the ship feel a little out of place with the rest of the game, it look better with a more minimalistic style( it's hard to explain what i mean).
it's a good endless arcade game(the controls feel like asteroid), you can add a timer for a history mode or challenge mode

Developer(+1)

No, I get it with the ship. It was a bit too minimalistic, so I made it way too detailed. Went from bad to worse honestly. Glad you pointed that out mate, thanks for the review :)

Fun and interesting concept, the graphics are also on a another level! (Amazing effects are pixel art!)

Good game, cool concept, and use of the limit! Also liked the visuals of the game! Love this kind of game! Keep it up!

Developer

We’re really glad you liked it, thank you :)

I know you warned but really lowering the explosion volume and a retry button would drastically change my experience. I played twice, and wanted to master those controls, but stopped because of that ^.^”

I like the concept, it’s goofy! And controls are hard indeed, but I never myself tried cooking sausage in space so who am I to judge how hard it is?! Well done it’s fun! Keep it up, small improvements would do wonder and the art is great <3

Believe me, if not for the time limit, I’d absolutely update the game with a restart mechanic. It really drags down many of the reviews, so I’ve learned my lesson. Thanks for the review, glad you enjoyed our game :)

Extremely curious about the concept of the game! I really like your work!

Developer

I share the same feelings towards you guys’ game. The idea for it came up randomly in a conversation about joining the jam, got a bit polished, and then we rolled with it. Anyways, thanks a lot for the feedback :)

Game is fun but also OH LORD is this a difficult one. Took me a while to cook my first sausage and it was my only one. I think it would be much nicer if the clock didn't reset when the sausage got colder (especially since that's not how cooking works). If that change was made it would also make sense to increase the time a little to compensate so it isn't too easy.

My only other gripe is that the movement is a little finnicky but I got around that by playing a little smarter and trying to not move as much. (also the dash mechanic was quite useless in my experience as it just sent me flying uncontrollably.)

Good art and audio design though. Only tip on the art design is that it doesn't feel very cohesive and the ships sort of class with the rest of the art (but that's just a bi-product of jam games and my game has the same issue)

Developer (2 edits)

Thanks a lot for all the info. We get a lot of somewhat negative opinions on the movement, but that was to be expected. I knew from the start while proposing the floaty system to be painfully slow that some wouldn’t like it (it was stupid in the first place, I admit), but I can assure you that this aspect will get better as we learn from mistakes. In terms of the clock, it is the most rushed part of the game. I implemented it while nearly falling asleep on my chair the last day we worked on it.

the visuals and game feel are amazing! I like challenging movement, but this feels challenging because its unintuitive and confusing, not because it takes skill. Take this with a grain of salt, because I also got similar-ish feedback on my game xD. regardless it's a very cool game, great job! not completely sold on the use of limitation, though

Developer

Thanks for speaking the truth, we appreciate it :)

Really Nice, i reloaded it multiple times to grill my blurred sausage again.

I didn't really understand how to score points but whatever- Long live the Space Barbecue!

This was AWESOME! The concept cracks me up! Way to go!

Pretty fun! Liked the Visuals and the challenging gameplay. Was confused about what the goal was and how to get points.

Amazing concept, spectacular visuals, ambitious control scheme... which unfortunately felt like the weak point, and makes it feel quite awkward to control, a little bit QWOP-ish. The dash mechanic in particular felt unintuitive - pressing backwards to dash forward and vice versa?

Loved all the particle effects, the really nice bloom shader, and the sound designs were great. The bloody explosion was amazing :D

Needs a retry button after though because this game definitely makes you want to try again and master the controls! Having to exit out and refresh disrupts the flow.

Yeah, I apologized for this in another post. Due to a lack of time, many features, even some obvious ones, were near impossible to implement. Though we’re very glad to hear you, and if enough people request it, we might do a quality of life update.

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Also the controls were kinda supposed to be challenging. I admit, they are definitely not satisfying, so I also apologize for that. We’ll do better next time, since many people criticize the way we made them.

Good style,concept and enjoyment!

Unrivaled style. classy massive hot dog, space theme, thats all i need. also that intro is so dope, nice work!

Developer

Thanks a ton, we appreciate it :)

This game is really fun ! I also use Aseprite for the pixel art of our game, and the quality of the drawings are really good! I really appreciate the mood of the game. The gameplay is quite difficult to understand at the first time with all the action possible, but after few minutes i get it. And the musique is an appreciate bonus ;)

Developer(+1)

Thanks a lot for the feedback mate, we’re glad you liked it so much

A window smaller than 5 degrees seems cruel. I had fun though and cooked one perfect sausage! The dash back works really well for timing your retreat. It's funny how when you hit a spaceship you might just be pingponged around for a bit by other spaceships. Great game!

Submitted(+1)

I had a hard time playing it but the sound and screen effects are dope. Well done

Submitted(+1)

The Visual effects really make the game pop. I found the controls odd at first but when i got the hang of it, it made me feel like i was in that one scene in Interstellar. Great Game!

Great post-processing and sound. Although it was slightly hard to understand how to make sausage right without burning. Or maybe it just scoring system in the browser is not always working. But overall great game!

Developer

No, it’s purely our fault. The timer should flash or grow a bit while you’re in the final cooking stage, but it was 1 am and I just couldn’t put myself through that with the amount of time I chipped through every day. Most of the necessary mechanics like a pause screen or restart weren’t there simply due to lack of planning ahead and bad time management on my end. Glad you enjoyed it tho, it’s our first full release ever :)
