A really fun turn based card game! Only wished there was multiplayer, great job though!
Very Fun and Polished, I reached wave 7 then lost
interesting twist to the use of the limitaiton.
very impressive entry ! it is such a polished card game, managed to reach wave 5 :) the art is stunning, really cool job !
love the game. not sure calling health "heat" means you fit the theme, but it's option anyway so who cares? the concept and execution are both great, nice job!
Oh that’s a clever take on the limitation! Well done it was fun <3

Addictive for sure! Really triggers that gambler part of your brain.
Great game! First time I enjoyed figuring oyt the game but ultimately failed :) But second time I found best strategy and beat the game which felt very satisfying. Also clever use of limitation, good work!!!
AWESOME!! Really really well executed!!! [pun intended ;)]
Love the framework you have set up so far. This definitely has soooo much potential! I also think the Heat = Heal was a really interesting flavor to the game.
Given that this type of game needs multiple iterations and extensive playtesting to get the balance just right, I’d like to offer some detailed feedback on the current 'meta'. You’ve done a great job with concepts like mixing and burning cards—those are super cool!! However, I found that the RNG can make progression quite tricky. Like when I have a hand full of double damage cards with no chop/sweep, or a bunch of bonfires when I'm not ready to heal and I'm waiting for a Call of Fire card to show up in my hand, but never get it at the right time :P
Another example to explore is the card design itself, like the Call of Wrath card felt essentially identical to playing two Chops, whereas something like triple damage would be a much more engaging choice that feels different. Also, I wasn’t sure how to choose my target for these attacks; is it based on rune position or another factor?
As I tried to build out my decks, the RNG was often not in my favor and I had a lot of interaction cards without getting damage cards. Sometimes it was genuinely my mistake (a bad choice), sometimes it was due to the cards I was being offered between levels (bad luck). Perhaps there could be some forced limits to make duplicate cards never appear in the 3-card spread, so you have more options to specialize.
Maintaining enough healing to survive past skeletons was another challenge—I only made it to round six at best. The artwork is fantastic and creates an immersive atmosphere, which is definitely a strong point! Everything’s on the right track and with more cards added and some balance tweaks, this could turn out to be incredibly addictive. I love this Slay-the-Spire genre and can see myself getting hooked with further refinements!
Hey ecaroh, thanks for putting in the time for all the feedback.
I completely agree with most of your critiques. For example, I wish I could have prevented the same cards from spawning in the 3-card spread, but i just didn't have the time. Also, I'd really have loved to make some kind of card that let you influence the card drawing rng make the game a little less luck reliant, but my spaghetti code would probably not have allowed that. On top of that, theres a couple of bugs that annoy me.
Though completing the game definitely requires a lot of rng, I've gotten some consistency through one strategy: Kindling Spam
This strategy relies on you getting kindling early on, burning all of your cards except for one attack rune, one call of wrath, and one call of fire. Then you pair your obscenely powerful +23 heat bonfires with call of fire to heal all your health, and use sweep + call of wrath to area damage nuke the enemies. By Kindling everything except 4-5 cards, you don't have to rely on card drawing rng.
As for targeting specific enemies, the rune to the left will target the left enemy when applicable (chop, execute, and sacrifice). Because of this, Call of Wrath has a use (when there are 2 enemies present) as it allows you to deal 18 damage to one enemy instead of 9 to each.
Despite some of these shortcomings, I'm really happy you enjoyed the game. Thanks for playing
Cheers
Very nice mechanics! I loved the vibes and the execution of the idea! Great visuals and nice music that fits! Well done :)
GREAT use of the restriction! Couldn't get any better! The vibe and theme are killer as well!
Great idea, I love the gameplay (considering I love slay the spire) but I also love the art style and overall game. My favorite part is how you used the limitation to add a spin on the traditional card battler!
Really enjoyable! The game seems endless, but it took me good minutes to get bored at it, I LOVE the concept, one of the best of the submissions I’ve rated yet, very original in my opinion.
The art is consistent, I like it.
The limitation was well implemented. It has a good potential.
Insane for the time - didnt really like that it was permanent card destruction, but it makes sense in the more limited wave sense so cant mark that against it. Great all around!
Thanks for this game, the art is great and consistent, and i think it really brings everything together. And although i did not grasp immediately how the slots worked, it came to me naturally as soon as I saw 2 ennemies
Splendid. audio is fantastic, love the rune combining. I'm not sure if I just didn't get far enough but I wish there were more runes.
Love deck building games, and I wouldn't have thought that someone manages to create a fun and exciting deck building game for a short game jam alone. Very fun experience and congrats for finishing the game.
Very nicely made and creative, nicely inspired by Slay the Spire. It took a while to understand that the first card is played on one monster, the second on the other, but other than that, the gameplay and graphics work really well together. Though the limitation isn’t used creatively, it didn’t lower any of the other criteria, obviously. Great work.
was playing for 30 mins but had to stop to rate it 5 starts all the way
