Description
Rather than an imaginary game, I composed towards an imaginary made up Anime concept/story and as such, created a “menu music” for myself to compose towards as anime soundtrack production involves following a “menu music” most of the time.

Made up Anime Synopsis: The story follows a 1st year high school boy who suffers from Chuunibyou/eighth grade syndrome. He believes that he has special powers, this causes him to be labeled as strange in his class and a lot of his classmates tend to avoid him, except for a few of his friends who can put up with his weird antics despite their annoyance. However, even though he is weird, everyday life is always interesting with him, however despite his eccentric personality, he has a sad past that lead him to who he is now.

Overall Soundtrack Detail: I wanted to make the overall soundtrack list to be somewhat emotional and laid back or lighthearted. So I created some soundtracks to show the everyday life of the main character and his friends putting up with his weird quirkiness such as accompanying our protagonist on adventures from class to the clubroom and taking part in his fight against enemy forces like the teachers or a random stranger. Some soundtracks also evoke a feeling of sadness and resolve for the main character’s past and present self. A few soundtracks were inspired by the anime “Chuunibyou Demo Koi Ga Shitai” and “Violet Evergarden”.

Message from the artist
This is my first time doing a OST Composing Jam, so my apologies for not exactly following the rule by making a made up Anime instead of a game, but I hope you enjoy the soundtrack I created.

If you aren’t able to download the file or just don't want to download it, you can listen to all the soundtrack with this link here or through my Soundcloud: https://play.reelcrafter.com/Andy_Lin/A-Delusional-Life-Soundtracks

Theme

Inside my world
Picture theme

How does it fit the theme?
My concept for the story and soundtrack is based on the Anime “Chuunibyou Demo Koi Ga Shitai”. I wrote some soundtracks to have a feeling of laid back but also to show the protagonist’s chuunibyou like he is living in his own little world, adventuring the hallway and fighting “enemies”. I also wrote some emotional soundtracks based on the child with a vague looming parent figure from the given image to showcase the protagonist’s past and present self.

Cool concept, AMAZING SOUNDTRACK!!

I truly enjoyed listening from start to finish. I like the way you mix the piano with the orchestra

At The Horizon's Boarder was my personal favorite.

I'm curious about the VSTs you used...

This was definitely one of my favorites submissions!!!

Thanks for the comment.  I probably should have listed out the library I used...

Strings:  Tokyo Scoring Strings

Woodwinds, Brass, Piano, and any percussions:  Spitfire BBC Symphony Orchestra and Abbey Road

Bass:  Shreddage

Drum Kit:  Originals Abe Laboriel JR Drums

wow...very generous of you to tell me. Thank you so much♥

At first I was afraid the entire soundtrack would be light hearted. But then the soft strings and woodwinds brought such an emotional contrast. Well done.

Holy, I am a sucker for every single piano in this soundtrack. The composition in this is absolutely beautiful and could definitely see these being in an anime :)

My favorite track was "Its the "Enemy!" Prepare your "Weapons!"", it sounded so full and lively.

Each track was so fun to listen to, fantastic work!!

Definitely one of the best submissions I have heard. Interesting both compositionally and with the instrumentation. You definitely know, where to experiment and be bold with the choices, and where to stay in the background to give space.

There are some places, where instruments feel a little imbalanced (such as the ending of Dumb Antics) and the mixing could use a little polish. Otherwise, sound selections are very good.

Having 8 unique songs of this quality is very admirable!

Ridiculous production quality and overall writing. You are exactly what I would aspire to become. Thank you for the amazing soundtrack! Following immediately on Soundcloud!

The intro is beautiful and moving! I can really feel the game’s title in it. The strings are executed very well, and the piano has that touch of melancholy it needed. As an intro, it works perfectly. Overall, all the music fits very well with the type of game you envisioned, both for cutscenes and exploration scenes. The arrangements are very nice, and the way you orchestrated with a small ensemble of brass and woodwinds (in the second track) has a dual effect: comedic yet relaxing. The third track has a completely different orchestration but strongly conveys the “hero” you described. The comedic themes are clumsy and very interesting (reminiscent of *Fantozzi*, a famous Italian cinema cult). Well done, great job—I say this with complete sincerity!

I think the first half perfectly encapsulated the goofy and eccentric nature of your character, it was very platful and you embodied your theme really well. It would be interesting to hear you write with a bit more brass, I love the bassoon but i also think something like the bassline in "such a weirdo" with a tuba could have added to the goofy nature of your character, but thats very subjective. Nice job!

Interesting choice to make an anime OST but I do think that gives you an opportunity to make a different style of song than a video game would work for. I liked Look at this thing the best because it was the most goofy.

Saying your inspirations being Violet Evergarden and Chuunibyou Demo Koi Ga Shitai put me in limbo knowing that combining these two will bring an anime that will definitely bawl my eyes out when emotional scenes kick in.

I like how each track can be used to portray each scene in an episode like the "Enemy" track being used when the protagonist is on a delusion of sorts, "Dumb Antics" being used for the Slice of Life moments and the sixth and seventh song being used when I'm gonna cry.

I could totally see this as a Slice of Life anime with a lot of comedic and sad elements sprinkled in it and even a quirky cast of characters, kinda like Oregairu or Love is War. Amazing Work out there

If you really want to make it as a game, simply put it as a visual novel lmao. Also missed opportunity to make the title in some songs have old English words like "Thou" or "Thy" to characterize the protagonist's 8th grade brainrot.

I appreciate your comment.  I struggle with naming my soundtracks a lot.

Believe it or not, I actually privately spoke with Evan Call, the composer of Violet Evergarden, last year in December although, it took a while to get in contact with him haha.

No way that's actually amazing. Evan Call is such a cool guy, he even made the music in some of my favorite anime like Made in Abyss. the fact you got in touch with him was nothing sort but incredible.

Really nice compositions! They are super well made. I really like Its the enemy I enjoy how its super clean and still sounds full. Great job!

Congrats! The music is totally in line with the theme.

What a treat to listen to! Each track has its own personality despite similar instrumentation.

I'm a sucker for piano and strings. Nice work!

Really strong story-arch that suits your theme well and shows a lot of different stylistic approaches. You could be more confident with the depth of your orchestral writing (even in places just through more doubling to add more colours), but there are impressive ideas here and you’ve clearly got a strong understanding the soundworlds you are creating :)

I really appreciate your feedback and your time.

Thank you!

Beautiful and emotional. Fits perfectly your story. The last track was my favorite.

I don't even know what I can say...

it's a very sensual soundtrack! I love him! It is very well remembered and sounds like a musical accompaniment to something happy or... anime)

P.S. "Enemy!" - my favorite track)

Cute!! I can definitely hear the inspiration from anime tracks (as a compliment). Very catchy~

Beautiful angle on the world you wrote this for, and the music matches it really well

Submitted(+1)

cute and quirky compositions! admittedly, i don't think they're the fullest, but they serve their purpose as anime-esque soundtracks really well, i can very much see the influence there.

You mentioned Chuunibyou and Violet Evergarden and I could SEE it. Amazing work, you really conveyed the feelings. All around great quality on the tracks. Loved it.

I may have been biased while rating this
