Description
Soundtrack for a more dramatic action-adventure/RPG with an ocean theme. My style is a cross of orchestral film score and progressive rock, with some electronic elements. I've done a title screen track, a track for a calm moment while exploring an area, and an urgent-sounding track for a climactic mission/level of some kind.
Message from the artist
I only learnt of this jam the day before submissions were due so apologies if the production isn't quite up to standard but I did my best in the time I did have!
Theme
How does it fit the theme?
I've gone for a more dramatic, heroic interpretation but I did try to capture an oceanic, East Asian feel that I got from the picture, and an earnestness that I got from the words "Inside My World".

Is it fun? Yes! Is it beautiful? Yes! Skillful use of orchestral instruments to create a magical atmosphere? Yes!
Delighted that you think so, thankyou!
Title Screen: The quiet piano helps set up the melody and main theme for your OST really well. The pads give an ocean vibe which is very relaxing to listen to.
Calm Area: This is really lovely watery guitar and piano over ocean pads. This track is the embodiment of gentle water exploration. I am bookmarking this track to reference back to when I want to write ambient water music in the future!
Urgent Mission: The piano and driving strings are very epic and sound like they belong in a Fire Emblem game. I think this is a really great chord progression - I especially love your bass movement. The electric guitar adds an intensity that feels like the stress of a combat situation. You were able to capture all of these feelings while having it feel like a water level throughout. This is an amazing track!
Overall: You have demonstrated your masterful ability to write in 3 different styles with what you have show-cased here. I feel that I learned a lot from you by listening to your tracks. Excellent work and thank you for sharing!
Completely charmed, thankyou so much for all your comments. And I'm delighted to hear you've bookmarked the Calm Area music, that means a huge amount so thankyou, truly!
The Title Screen theme is beautiful - loving the less-is-more approach here by letting the chords breathe and really come to life. Well played, nicely articulated a solid progression with some really nice pad accompaniment.
The choice of instrumentation in Calm Area is really nice - I adore the pads and drones here, they do a great job of emulating that floating underwater kind of feeling. Having the harp take the lead here and leisurely run through sequences and arpeggios - it does a great job of adding some whimsy and gently guiding the listener without rushing through anything. Introducing the piano after this was genius - it has a more defined kind of pace. Love the miniature outro here as well, does a nice job of bookending the track.
Finally, Urgent Mission makes for a nice change of pace and tone. Fantastic orchestration and use of various articulations here. Once again the accompaniment in the background does a great job of bolstering the track as a whole. Love how this one progresses and evolves over time. Opting for a fade-out was interesting - I, surprisingly, have not heard a lot of them in submissions thus far.
Great work, this is absolutely gorgeous. Really nice selection of tracks, well produced and nice & varied. Really enjoyed this. :)
I so appreciate all your comments, and thankyou so much for taking the time! I'm charmed!
I'm just listening to it again and again. In love. The main menu is wow. I don't have the words to describe the tenderness I feel. The piano sounds so light, airy and aquatic at the same time. The second one is so soft, makes an excellent background athmosphere. The last one is so epic, would already be an excellent game or film OST. Definitely one of my favorite submission. Thank you for sharing.
Ahh I'm so pleased! That's so kind of you, thankyou so much!
This was a beautiful soundtrack! It's amazing what you achieved in just a single day, it's made with great quality. Not gonna lie, I got pretty immersed by the end of the calm area music and totally got jumpscared by Urgent Mission, lol. Great job!!!
Thankyou so much! Sorry the last track made you jump, blame my volume-levels! But I'm so glad you like it.
very beAutiful keep it up!! 🌵
Thankyou so much, I definitely will!
It's incredibly impressive that you made this in such a short time, because these tracks are really high quality!
1st track : I love this type of solo piano piece, even if it's super short.
2nd track : I really like the electric keyboard (I don't know exactly what obv) you used here, it's so serene and calm, with a full and pretty lush sound. Lovely!
3rd track : A solid "danger" theme! Dramatic and tense, but also still with a good melody and a great feel. Nice!
This is a really well produced ost, with some good composition to "close the deal"!
Nice job!
Really kind of you, thanks so much!
On the second track by the way, that's a Rhodes piano from Spectrasonics Keyscape with a lot of chorus on it - always been one of my favourite sounds to use. Really happy you approve!
MAIN MENU: Ooh. Piano work reminiscent of BOTW.
CALM AREA: Lovely, very expressive. Great e-piano.
URGENT MISSION: The energy comes in! Love the chord choices with a generous amount of mode mixture.
Great work! I definitely get BOTW/TOTK vibes from this overall.
So glad you enjoyed it - the BOTW/TOTK scores are a big influence I have to say, hopefully not too derivative. Frankly all the Zelda scores are to be honest! Thankyou!
Good orchestration, beautiful chord progressions on all the songs, I was afraid the mix on first song (Tittle Screen Menu) was just too quiet even for a solo piano piece but when the other tracks came up, you did an amazing job in the mix and arrangement, great work !
Thanks ever so much, yes it is too quiet definitely but not a difficult fix in the future. Thankyou!
Very nice trio of tracks! Very well done for getting them done in such a short space of time.
Can definitely hear both the ocean and especially the east asian influence very strongly, reminded me of quite a few soundtracks from japanese games (or those very inspired by japanese games) from the early 00s up to now.
Would agree with what others have said about URGENT MISSION being considerably louder than the other two as I'm sure you're now aware. But I did also really like the approach you took with it, feels very dramatic and tense whilst also being very elegant and gliding.
Both the other tracks were very good too though.
So glad you liked it, thankyou! Yes I think it was mostly due to mixing all three tracks in the same project, which is what I do sometimes when I'm doing albums but maybe not for OSTs so it's good to know. Thanks so much though!
URGENT MISSION was my favorite track but it was also way louder than the other two by a longshot!
So pleased! Yes I didn't get the balances right, I should've mixed the other two a bit louder to match but hey-ho. Glad you enjoyed it anyway!
Amazing work!! There is emotion with an amazing orchestration! "Urgent mission" is by far my favourite!!
Thanks ever so much, really appreciate it!
Impressive work! The soundtrack was relaxing and soothing, I enjoyed just listening to it. Good job!
Thanks ever so much! Really glad it's relaxing, I'm definitely big on that!
One of the most professional sounding submissions i've heard so far! I love the sound of the first track (I'm a sucker for minimalism haha). It gives me Kingdom Hearts vibes
Thankyou very much indeed, that's great to know! Very happy to have evoked Kingdom Hearts, there's some lovely music going on there. Really appreciate it!
Darn... That was awesome! I can't believe you whipped this up in a day... Very beautiful ambient business. That third track was so good! And it scratches the prog rock itch quite a bit. Overall, awesome melodies, really nicely done!
Thanks ever so much! So glad you like it. Technically I got started on it the evening before the deadline but yes it was basically a 24-hour job, but I'm so glad it worked out! Thanks again.
Such a beautiful conception of the theme! The calm area track is so good and resonates with the underwater theme so well. Those pluck runs into the chord changes are so satisfying, you clearly have a great understanding of music concepts. Amazing work!
Thankyou so much! Really nice of you to say so, really appreciate it.
So very tasteful, it's subtle and simple and at the same time well though-off and intricate, I'm enjoying every second of this. Very visual, the underwater theme is omnipresent throughout the soundtrack. And what beautiful piano lines you have written! Congratulations!
Edit: Urgent Mission is an absolute banger!
So kind of you, thankyou so much. Really glad you enjoyed the Urgent Mission track!
Hi Daniel!
The atmosphere that your music portraits is captivating. Loved the piano sounds you use. Is it okay if I ask you what it is?
Track number 3 is very contrasting with previous ones yet cohesive with them. Amazing!
Great job!
So glad you think so, thankyou Layla! Of course it's ok - the piano is actually a patch from Spectrasonics Keyscape, which is an absolute stalwart for me, I use it all the time these days.
Really really good! It's a crime you only have 6 ratings.
Do yourself a favor and definitely go rate others for visibility, you should be more popular within the jam.
One thing I wish you had done though, but it's a minor nitpick, would be to try and get volume up on 1 & 2 a bit so there's not so much discrepancy with the 3 beautifully mixed & mastered track.
Great submission!
Very kind of you, thankyou! It was a rushed production, I only learnt of the jam the evening before the submission but yes the volumes are a bit off, you're right. I'll get stuck in with rating in that case, good advice, thankyou! Really appreciate it.
My god that’s insane, I only got to do one track in that time lol, you’re a workhorse ahaha
Your music is very nice. I really liked the first and third tracks. Congrats!
So pleased, thankyou for saying so!
