Description
This is a an orchestral fakebit OST. I took inspiration from I took inspiration from Ori and the Blind Forest and Donkey Kong Country. I also took inspiration from artists like David Wise, Gareth Coker, and Disasterpiece's music. I love underwater levels and games so there are different sounds related to water sprinkled across these tracks. I used FL Studio 24 and worked on this project by myself.

Message from the artist
Thank you for listening to my music. It means a lot to share the songs I made with others!

Great work on these! I’m definitely getting the Ori inspiration. Each track has its own character which sets them all apart from each other nicely, I especially liked the third track, you developed the material quite well in that one.

Developer(+1)

Thank you! I thought the third track could be a good change of pace while still feeling connected to the other tracks.

Submitted(+1)

It's very "canonical", but I think you focused primarly in getting the theme and the mood right, and I think you succeeded.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for listening!

A wonderful collection of music. I enjoyed the flutes and stringed instruments, the soft percussions and SNES style all bring me back to nights hiding under a blanket trying to beat Donkey Kong Country. Superb :)

Developer(+1)

Thanks! I've recently been trying to find a good way to mix orchestral instruments and video game inspired sounds without either feeling out of place,  so I'm glad you liked it!

Submitted(+1)

i liked the underwater feel, and the percussion was a highlight! amazing work!

Developer

Thanks for the listen! I appreciate the kind words!

I absolutely loved your instrumentation choices. Each track had its own way of evoking an underwater world. Very clever use of that Chrono Trigger clock too!

Developer

Thank you for listening! I'm glad you enjoyed it!

Absolutely beautiful and 1000% feels like an underwater adventure filled with wonder as you said :3 I really like how in the Menu Selection Theme, it is calming, yet also gives a sense of time slowly ticking away that ties in with the story concept & the Shell Clock! Your cover art is absolutely gorgeous too :D

Developer(+1)

Thank you! I had a lot of fun making the "Menu Selection Theme" and playing around with the concepts present in the story. You picked up on the Shell Clock concept with the ticking clocks present in each track; I thought it would be an interesting thing to do.

Also, I'm glad you liked the cover art! I had to rush it a bit due to time constraints, but I'm happy I did it. Thanks again for the listen!

Really like the Main Theme, from the very first seconds it pulls you into its great atmosphere. Good work!

Developer(+1)

Thank you! I'm glad you liked it!

I'm biased because I love orchestral, but this is incredible. Listening to your work felt like I was playing a relaxing yet epic game, such as Journey, but with more water.

Developer

Thank you for listening! This theme had me excited because I like orchestral music and water themed levels. Journey had some great music, and has inspired me over the years. I'm glad you stopped by for a listen!

WOW strong start already, really liked what you offered, a preference for the Main Theme that is super complete! Everything is super well mixed and balanced. Extremely impressive!

Developer(+1)

Thank so much for the kind words! I tried my best to make something presentable with the time I had, so it means a lot to me that you liked these songs!

Submitted(+1)

Loved the ambiences you created! And the dynamism of the first track very well thought!

Developer

I appreciate that, thank you so much!

Damn starting off hard with the Main Theme, great orchestration, nice composition and mix sounds nice, percussions hits hard yet everything is really ambient. Good job !

Developer

I tried my best to make sure each element had presence but wasn't overbearing or too harsh. Thanks for listening!

This soundtrack felt very light throughout, in a relaxing yet grand way. I love how huge the main theme was , and how the menu selection music pulled back a bit, leading into you getting a more experimental sound from Seaside Castle and bringing everything back together and melding styles for the finale.

Really beautiful collection of tracks you've got here, well done!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for your kind words! I wanted to make sure that there was  a clear through line so this soundtrack felt connected and not disjointed. I'm glad you understood what I going for, thanks again for listening!

Submitted(+1)

the leitmotif of the intro is very psychedelic, it immediately transports you into the world you tell. The textures of the water are beautiful and also the changes of mood studied between one song and another, they give a lot of variety 🙂

Developer(+1)

Thank you for listening! I tried my best to make the intro as catchy and strong as possible, so I'm glad you liked it!

Submitted(+1)

Love the approach you did for the theme, including the water textures, lovely string arrangement, ethic bits, and the fakebit leads.  Can definitely hear the influences you mentioned through the composition.  Nice job!

Developer

Thank you so much for listening! I appreciate it!

Track 1 - from 0:05 to 0:17 there's just static. I tried redownloading it, but it was still there! =O

After scanning through it - I enjoy the style! Good job!

Developer

Thank you for listening! Are you talking about my music having static or something else? I don't hear any audible static in track 1

Submitted

Yeah, very strange. I had deleted it and downloaded it again, and it was still in the same spot. Probably an issue on my end, somehow...

Submitted(+1)

I really like the massive string sections you have in the first and last tracks, but my favourite has to be Seaside Castle. It has a really unique atmosphere to it, really feeling like some of the old SNES soundtracks (not just because of the use of the Final Fantasy VI soundfont). Great job!

Developer

Thank you! I wanted Seaside Castle to be change of pace from the other tracks but still feel connected to the others. I'm glad you liked it!

Really nice orchestration and choice of instrumentation in this. Great layering throughout, particularly in Inside My World as it progresses and swells into a busier piece. Submitted with just 20 minutes to go, too - really down to the wire! Good work, and best of luck. :)

Developer

I appreciate the kind words! My DAW kept crashing while exporting. I tracked the issue down to a mastering plugin but I was already in the last 15 minutes. I actually submitted this with 20 seconds to go because I didn't know about the 20 minute grace period for this jam. It was definitely stressful 😅. Thanks for listening!

Submitted(+1)

This is some pretty great music. I love the fakebit style that you went for, and now I'm kinda mad I didn't do that lol. The atmosphere is great, and the mixing is downright perfect. Definitely captures the vibe of game idea you went for.

Developer

Thank so much for the kind words! Fakebit is one of my main genres but orchestral styled music is something new to me, so this was definitely a challenging (but fun!) experience. By the way, I thought your interpretation of this jam's theme was great as well!

Submitted(+1)

Hey Marchen! Great music overall, you set very good atmospheres for all your tracks, makes it really easy to imagine what you're portraying with your music. Keep it up!

Developer

Thank you so much for listening! I wanted people to imagine the story through the music, and I'm glad you were able to do so.

Submitted(+1)

Very cozy, I like the instrument choices you made for this soundtrack. Especially the strings featured in the "Main Theme"

Developer

Thank you, I appreciate it! I'm still learning how to use orchestral libraries and this track was a bit of an "aha" moment for me.
