That's awesome! No idea how you were able to create such a cool game within one week. This is absolutely high polished.

I like everything, style, soundtrack, whole game idea. How the single game-mechanics fit together. The presentation of the tutorial...

Also these flying planes around you are not just amazing looking, it even has an influence where they were shot, so that you then kind of "physically" have to walk and grab it there. This is exactly the kind of immersion that i like so much in VR games, and which is not working at all on pancake-stuff^^

Actually only one little problem was, that movements seemed a bit broken, during grabbing somehing. And the sound-slider in the menu somehow wasn't changeable.

But definitely one of the top games and one I'll probably come back a few times even after the jam :-)

Thanks for the amazing reply. Being this is my first game jam, it really makes me soo happy to hear your thoughts and I'm so happy to see that you enjoyed the game. It was a hectic week tbh and seeing your feedback makes it really worth all that time. I am aware of the bugs and they will be fixed after the jam so you can come back and enjoy the game. Thanks for the kind words :)

I really liked this idea of delivering blocks to your turrets! The polish was really good on this game!

There was some bugs with the lid of the box launching me up in the air occasionally.

It would be nice if there was some feedback around the button presses, like a noise or something to indicate something happened. As now, it's silent and the effect takes a few seconds before you notice anything, so it's hard to tell if the button press does anything.

Overall, great job! Impressed you did this within a week.

Developer

Thanks mate, really appreciate the feedback. I will work on the bugs and the suggestions you mentioned. The buttons definitely need some feedback.

Great work Sahan!

Developer

Thank you ayye :)

I could tell from just the screenshots that this was going to have the most polish out of every  game submitted. To no surprise at all, it definitely was!!! The entire look of the game is fantastic. There are a few physics bugs that I noticed. The lid seems to collide with the player collider, which leads to launching the playing into the air. Some of the planes dropping boxes also seem to clip through the ground. You might have to change the box drops to Continuous Dynamic so they don't miss colliding with the floor. Besides that, this is easily one of the best entries this jam! Big congrats!

Developer

Thank you for the amazing feedback. This really made my day. I follow your tutorials on youtube and getting this feedback from you really means a lot.  I will surely have to work on the bugs and thanks for mentioning the steps to fix them too.

Wow such a polished piece of work. Well done! The art style, music and sound effects are all so good.

A minor complain: the button seems to be quite unresponsive when trying to "slam" it. You have to press it slowly and gently for it to work. You're probably using the "discrete" in for the Rigidbody settings, using "continuous" would make the physics work better in this case.

I did find a bug: one of my delivery didn't arrive. I pressed the button, the box disappeared but the delivery plane never appear. The box didn't respawn either. (Playing the APK version btw)

Developer

Thanks for the amazing response and the suggestions. I will surely take notes on the bugs for the next version. Hope you had fun :)

If it wasn't for the tutorial i was really lost with the commands! Anyway really cool game and idea to mix together the theme with a turret defence game! Really amazing, congratulation!

Developer

Thanks for the feedback, Glad you enjoyed the game :)

Very nice aesthetic to the game with lots of area to expand it you took it further

The tutorial was a point of friction having to return to it to find out a next step or clarify as aspect of a mechanic. Though I can see you moving this to an interaction tutorial in stages if this was more than a jam entry.

Good job

Developer

Thanks mate, really appreciate the feedback. I think tutorial can really use some upgrades as you suggested :)

Super polished! A really cool take on the tower defense genre. Even more amazing that this was done during a game jam!

Developer

Thanks mate, Hope you had fun playing the game.

Great combination of tabletop and VR! Took me a while to work out what was going on but once I found the tutorial page I managed to get everything working nicely, great job! Would be cool to see some more types of weapons etc.

Developer

Thanks mate. Really appreciate the feedback. I will try to add more weapons as I'm planning to do one more update to the game

Great achievement - nicely done, and nice idea!

I was I bit confused what was going on at first, I didn't see the Tutorial button for ages (it might be better along with the other buttons so you can't miss it). After that though, I really got into it - did all 30 waves. One thing that struck me  was that as the the game progressed and your defences increased, the game got easier (but more hectic), so it would be good if it got more challenging instead to hard waves nearing the end.

That said, I really enjoyed it, the idea certainly sucks you in and before you know it, you've been playing for ages :)

One minor thing - I thought the joysticks that moves the arrow were broken to start with because there's quite a delay before it moves to the next square.  Might be a good idea to make them more responsive.

Developer

I think I might have put the tutorial button in the wrong place since a lot of people mentioned it was bit hard to find. Can't believe you went through all the waves mate. Really happy to hear that :) I agree the waves are not very balanced and challenging. I kinda loved how the planes look in the VR and wanted it to be an easier experience. I will increase the joystick speed a bit to make it more responsive. Really appreciate your feedback.

Very cool and fun idea!

Nice seamless transition from the menu to the action. Definitely a recommendation!
It would mean a lot to me if you'd try my game Protocol PAR-C3L as well :)

Suggestions:

  • Make a max height for turrets. (Deliveries got stuck on a certain height, see screenshot)
  • Put the grabbables and the player rig on a seperate layer that don't interact with each other to prevent prop flying. (Pushing a prop into your body and walking)

Developer(+1)

Thanks mate, I will try your game for sure. Also thanks for the suggestions :)

Submitted(+1)

LOL! You put all the upgrades on the same turret?! I'm curious how that worked out.

Submitted(+2)

That worked out great!

Far reach, great health and fast fire rate haha *slaps huge tower like a car salesman*

Submitted(+1)

The planes are awesome :) Cool game for VR board game lovers!

Developer

Thanks mate, Hope you had fun :)

Great game! Looks quite polished! Really enjoyed playing it. Here is some input. Hope it helps:

Pros

Great mood

Simple tutorial

Clear objective

Awesome drop animation

Bugs

Lowering audio is not working

Repairs can go to -1

Other

Soundtrack should be more in the background, quite intense

Put the box in player height

Make ray interaction quicker

Indicate when an action cannot be done any more

UI should be in line of sight of the player

Developer

Woah, Really cool feedback. . Didn't even realized the repairs thing before. Really appreciate it. I will make the changes you mentioned for sure.

Submitted(+1)

Impressive submission! It feels somewhat unbalanced to make it easy for the player and that's totally ok for the jam entry. I'd personally prefer it without necessity to move, but it's just me. One annoying bug is unintended flying on the box cover when you grab it and go forward.

Developer

Thanks, I kinda loved how the planes looked in VR and decided to make it bit easier for the users so that they can go and see more planes. But it definitely need some balancing for sure.  Really appreciate the feedback. I'll fix the flying bug soon.

As others commented, the tutorial button may have been its own button on the map, I found it and got to play. Another idea could be on hover show what each button does.  I did get a self collision error and first time got bumped super high, and the other one flew far away from the game arena.  That being said, having a cool turret defense in front of you and adding powers to them with flyovers and drops was super cool to watch.  Altogether great job!
Also like that we had similar lines of thought on the title =) Excellent promo image too.

Developer

Thanks mate. Really appreciate the suggestions and the feedback.  I will try to fix the bugs in an upcoming version. I'm soo happy to get all these positive feedbacks from everyone.

Submitted(+1)

Yeah, movement speed is very very slow and self collision with objects is annoying. The game is also very easy, but I don’t mind that for a jam game. With that aside… everything else is phenomenal. Wow.

Developer

Thanks mate, hope you had fun playing the game. I will try to fix the issues ASAP :)

Very cool! I admittedly didn't read the comments first and know there was a tutorial and didn't know what I was doing. So I went back and played it again and noticed the tutorial on the left side kind of behind the player. I can see people have been having a good time stacking blocks under the turret, lol. I like how the tower defense unfolds right in front of you, it's very engaging! I would love to somehow interact with the planes when they fly in front of my face. If you update it in the future, maybe allow the player to bang on them or bump them a little just for show, not for changing gameplay.

Developer

Thanks mate. I'm actually thinking about doing another round of development for this one since I got a lot of great suggestions from a lot of people. I'll try to add a way for the players to interact with the planes as well . Really appreciate the feedback.

Great game! A front runner for sure. Maybe consider making a limit on how much boxes you can put under a turret:DDD

Developer

This made my day <3

Wow! Can the airplanes even shoot you up there?

Submitted(+1)

I love the art and the experience is great! I just saw now in the comments that there is a tutorial, I will go back and give it another try since I didn't get the game mechanics unfortunately.

Developer(+1)

Thanks mate, it seems like I put the tutorial button a bit far away. Its on the left side of the table. Hope you will have a fun time playing the game.

Submitted(+1)

I enjoyed this game. Once I found the tutorial button I was able to get the hang of it. My favorite part was seeing the planes fly around. Seeing big things move around you feels great in AR.

Developer

Thank you, really appreciate the feedback.
