Game Description
This is a dungeon-crawling bullethell game inspired by Enter the Gungeon, with a stolen borrowed time-stopping mechanism from Superhot! NOTE: The volume sliders are not working properly in the web build, please reduce your computer volume before starting!

How does your game tie into the theme?
The game is set in a frozen wasteland dungeon, but also you have the ability to freeze time by not moving!

I managed to complete the game completely unaware that I could stop time hahaha. Goes to show you that it's possible! I also would like to thank playing Enter The Gungeon for that, though. Once I figured out I could stop time things became much easier! Great implementation and art.

I think freeze ability implementation is not very good and ruins the pace of the gameplay. Besides that abusing very short dash make you invulnerable, even staying in front of the enemy. Despite that i really enjoyed playing this game as usual shoot`em up!

Thanks for playing! I definitely agree the dash cooldown is a bit too generous haha. We made an option for players to turn the time freezing off in case they wanted to play the pure bullethell version of the game, did you happen to try that mode as well?

Submitted(+1)

I didn`t pay attention to this option, but I was always on the move, so it wasn`t a problem.

Excellent job! Killer pixel art/designs - especially the character portrait in the corner. Enemy variety was surprisingly good for a Game Jam, really appreciated the orthogonal approach to their attack and movement patterns. Kudos and a preemptive congrats for when you win!

Very well-made and polished game! Almost super-hot 2D :) I first played it without pause, but when I learned to stop strategically it became almost a turn-based game :D And a nice take on the "freeze" topic!

Really great game you all made! It took me a while to get the hang of the controls but once that time passed I was ripping through enemies like crazy and abusing the time stop ability like Dio.  I also really like the artstyle as well and how you guys adopted the fundamentals of another game and transformed it into your own. The only thing I would've like to have seen personally is to a health bar on all the enemies to see how much damage I'm doing. That's the only thing I can really say is what I would've liked to see but overall, awesome game!

Fun game, love the "super-hot" style mechanic, it fits well also with this type of Gungeon game-play. I would have added a "woop" sound to make the player more aware of the time warp while moving or stopping, but with some variation to avoid having too much of a repetition.

That was definitely on our list, sort of like that comic DJ music stopping trope in movies. We ran out of time to get it working though :( Thanks for playing!

Submitted(+2)

Nice cross between genres :) nice approach to theme also.

My 6yo son played this and enjoyed it. I like the idea of freezing time. My son enjoyed the cannons and blasting things!

Thank you both for playing!

Awesome Artwork, Awesome music (made for the jam?), Theme spot on, Cool gameplay twist - although I was not able to really leverage it. I get that you could use it in stressful situations but I failed to see how to use it tactially/strategically. Maybe if opponents were to cast area spells which are previewed then you would have to compute a way out without stress in the middle of the battle...

I think you guys might appreciate our submission as it is somewhat along the lines of yours! Would love to see feedback from you.

Btw: i also experienced the jitters in fullscreen mode

Thanks for playing! We designed it to be able to stop time, and plan your dash direction if the amount of bullets went crazy, but we ended up without a ton of enemies to make the game a bit easier. It most definitely helps with the wizard attacks! I'll be checking out your game later for sure!

Submitted(+2)

Oh yeah, I get it now. I will definitly give it another try, also because I kept dying very early on.

Maybe the dash distance was too short for me to actually consider it a huge tactical advantage. I will reevaluate

Submitted(+2)

Great entry. Awesome music and art. As others have mentioned there is a bit of a problem with the sprites jittering around.

(1 edit) (+2)

We think we've found the issue with the jitter, will update after the rating window closes! Thanks for playing!

Obviously very much inspired by Enter the Gungeon which I dont mind ^^ Very much enjoyed your game, one of the better entries for me. Volume sliders werent working though.

Thank you! The web build is having issues with the volume sliders for some reason, so I went ahead and updated the itch page to warn others ahead of time.

This is pretty fun! Some good graphics, and freezing time in a bullet hell shooter is an interesting idea, though I at first didn't quite realize it was a mechanic and thought the game was a bit jittery in places XD

I'm not good at bullet hells so I didn't try any more after a few failures but it was pretty smooth to play and the UI looked great. I wish there were a bit more indication of when you or an enemy is hurt, there currently isn't a lot of feedback to shooting anything and that doesn't make it as satisfying as it could be, and leaves me a bit clueless as to how well I'm progressing.

(+1)

Fully agree about the damage indication. I had intended to add knockback but I ran out of time sadly :( Glad you still had fun, and thanks for playing!

This was a lot of fun; I enjoyed the time stop mechanic, and  the guns felt satisfying to use. Visuals were great, audio was good but I will say the music was pretty loud and the volume sliders in the settings didn't actually seem to change anything for me. Overall, very nice!

(+1)

Thanks for playing, we've made a note about the volume sliders for the web build!

As a fan of the metal slug series, your creation feels highly familiar in many ways. Admire the detailed work you did on the sprites and UI, everything bedded in a groovy heavy rock soundscape - and that moment when the purple wizard first appears and casts it special attack - brillant!

(+2)

Thank you! We have a very talented artist/graphic designer and sound designer!

Submitted(+2)

The sound design for the game is amazing it really sells the vibe and compliments the art beatufully.  Overall COOL game, very metal.

Thanks for playing!

Submitted(+2)

This was fun!! Great game.

Submitted(+2)

I really liked the sound design on this game. The art is smooth too! I like the pixel art and the vibe. You all really nailed it! This is great! This is just a great game over all!

Submitted(+2)

Looks great! The music is really good and the art is too! Perhaps it wasn’t working for me, but the music options menu didn’t actually change the volume of the music or sfx at all. It could be a web issue?

Great work! :)

(+1)

Thanks for playing! It's working properly in editor, could definitely be a web issue.
