This game was pretty fun and very chill. Really liked the Loop Hero-esque gameplay loop, and had a great time. My only feedback and suggestions, is that I ran into a bug where one of my monsters was super tiny, and it was really hard to tell when they were running out of food. I would also say that I didn't really get the storm aspect of the game, but overall had a great time and is one of the better jam games I've played.

Developer(+1)

The tiny part is a bug when they are dying, you just didn't let it die and you had a small zombie on your hands. About the storm, the game takes place before the storm, we had a storm in the works that was a heavier state of the board, but just run out of time and left it as the story. The game is about collecting monsters to save them from the storm, that is our original vision.

Thank you for playing the game and your comments!

Your game is so relaxing and satisfying! I wanted to fill up the whole map with tiles but the monsters kept dying because I didn't have the right resources to buy them food. maybe unnecessarily hard but I liked the core mechanics.

Developer

I also think that it is unnecessary hard, a game jam game, you know, didn't balance it.  I wanted to do levels that got progressively larger maps and have the player go learning slowly before the big map. Thank you for your comment! As a winning strategy, get the chainsaw as soon as possible.

The art is great, really nice animations. I felt like I could barely afford any food for the monsters so they just died out and it was hard to get more monsters to work. Gameplay was still pretty fun tho, good work.

Developer

Thanks, yeah, the game is very challenging unless you abuse the chainsaws (and even then it is not easy), I want to improve it after the Jam :).

Wow, amazing game! The art is cool, and the music really captivated me. The gameplay feels really satisfying, and I had a great time playing it. Well done!

Developer

Thank you for your comment!! Really happy you enjoyed it!

Amazing art and music!
I had a ton of fun playing, for a bit of criticism, I felt the shuffle mechanic a bit confusing and the win or loose a little bit too dependant on the random placement of monsters. I had one round where all of them were grouped on the left side

Submitted(+1)

it was a great game and made me keep playing!

the only problems i had were that sometimes monsters could overlap on top of each other which made it a bit hard to feed them, and when a monster dies and in the moment of dying you give it a food, it will walk in the state of dying its funny XD
but on the other hand everything else was perfect, i loved the art style, loved the game design and music and had so much fun with it! i didnt run into any storms though...
also i would really appreciate your guys' thoughts on my game if you try and rate it please!

Developer(+1)

Once I get back home I am getting to play your game, thanks for the comments! Yeah the storm is more of an impending doom, but if we come back to the game we would like to add a storm event that makes more damage to monsters.

hey man...did something happen?
sorry if my game didnt appeal too much or something like that if thats the case...

Developer(+1)

Sorry, I was caught in some work, have rated it now!

Very unique type of gameplay. Took me a while to figure everything out but I saved all of the monsters on my second try. Very good stuff!

Submitted(+1)

Bookmarked it and will for sure play this again later. Really enjoyable, the mechanics are solid and it's not like a lot of things I've played before. Kudos!

Feedback:
- Honestly not much to say but if I had to give something its the tutorial. It took a bit to understand what's happening
- Also, the scaling sometimes feels slightly off. I'm not sure if the high cost for reshuffling is good, I would have made that low or even free upon all cards all depleted and just up the costs of drawing / other cards or give the cards a bit less value.

Developer

Thanks for your comment!

Yeah I am thinking on making the reshuffle cheaper as your deck gets depleted, once your deck has no cards, reshuffling could cost 1 coin or even be free. I worried that people would reshuffle too much, but you are right.

Very solid entry, nice mechanics and design!

I love this game. It was very well done. The sounds, the art, and the concept.

I only encountered one bug that was clicking too many cards left the icons on the screen under them. Not game-breaking.

Submitted(+1)

A pretty good card-building game. The only real complain I could have is the lack of tutorial. Good graphics, audio, and gameplay.

8.5/10 :>

Developer

Yeah, I would have loved to make a tutorial, we just didn't have enough time as we pivoted the idea and art a couple of times and I personally had a bit of trouble finding the gameplay loop and closing it.

After the jam I would love to come back to the game, add a tutorial, a level system and a save system and of course a storm state of the level, as we had invisioned.

Thank you very much for your words, and 8.5 is awesome :D

interesting strategy idea, personally I haven't played anything like this so I had fun learning it

I loved the artstyle and sfx. I can actually see myselft sinking hours playing this!

Nice job on this! However on one run I got just a single path, and just one monster running around the same path and getting me a lot of money and it was very easy to reshuffle and keep drawing cards. I think they wouldn't die either, though I guess I didn't try giving them that much candy. Even when getting all the tiles, none would turn into paths, and the other monsters wouldn't even start walking and would never die. In that run I didn't get too many of other resources, mostly got a lot of money from just one monster. So I might have gotten a scenario where I can't lose, but it might not have been intended that way, since in the other tries I lost from the monsters dying.

I really like this game though, very nice job on it!

Developer

hi, thank you for your feedback, I have fixed that bug. So yeah, dying is expectef in general :D

Submitted(+1)

Awesome, I might consider to play it again actually because I really found this one interesting.

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

hey thanks, really appreciate you liking the game, even though we planned for it to have monsters, bugs are an innevitable (and somewhat expected) passengers of the game.

I tried it again and it's working better now, I think before it was not placing the paths correctly a lot of the time. I think though my monsters were still there, I didn't even lose one, and it said that I died and lost too many of them all of a sudden after about 5 to 10 minutes or so. I was watching their color and giving them hamburgers. I might double check if somehow there were multiple ones dying at exactly the same time, but it's possible it might be another bug as well. Or, maybe I missed something and there's some other way to lose that happened.

I really like this game, and I believe that usually, I tend not to like this specific kind of game, so you did a really great job on it!

Developer

Hey thank you! I think what is happening is that you need to keep ALL monsters alive, even those outside your road. You can feed them while trying to reach them!

Submitted (7 edits)

I built enough of the area to have all of them walking and collecting resources, the game was still going, for a while. I was giving hamburgers to the ones that were starting to look tired or losing color. Then, suddenly I lost even when they were all looking like they still had full color and not one died. Maybe it was enough for just one monster to die or something (though to me, I think I was keeping them all alive and not even letting one die,  but I'm not sure, maybe just one died and I didn't notice, and even just losing one was enough to lose the game). Maybe somehow many of them died at once and I missed it (though, I'm not sure that happened), or there was another way I lost that I missed.

I might try it again and see if it happens.

In case I try it again, might you like a video capture to see if it might be a bug?

I did not know I can feed them while they are still standing there, I think I just built the area fast enough to get them all walking and the game was still going fine for a while after that before I suddenly lost, but I might keep in mind I can feed them even before I get to them.

What a cool concept, keep up the great work!

I liked the music and the graphic, it was chill. The game design ideas is also great, but I can't seemed to draw cards after certain point and stuck. Also wish that the text on the card is more contrast, currently its kind of hard to read it. Overall great concept!

Developer

Hi,

Sorry for the confusion, there is a text showing the amount of cards missing, will  patch it out. The deck originally only has 5 cards, that's why you can't keep drawing, there are no more cards.

Thank you for your comment!

Submitted(+2)

I had a lot of fun. This game is right up my alley. There is still a bit of confusion. The storm never comes? Or did I misunderstand.
Also the draw card wasn't working after I drew a few cards. After loosing and restarting, there were issues with paths and tiles being changed that shouldn't be changed. But I gotta stress I reaaaalllyy liked this game. Would love to play it a bit more fleshed out too :)

Developer (2 edits)

Hi thank you for your comment! We made the game design and then got inspired by loop hero, but decided to try and keep our own voice.

The reason you cannot draw more cards is that the deck is empty, the number is not showing because of a bug, I'll fix it during the day. And yeah, the storm doesn't come, you play before and there is no time limit. Originally we wanted the storm to come and do constant damage to every monster, making the same loop, now that you have your full deck, but we just didn't have the time to do it.

The paths changing follows a minesweeper logic, leaving only the  border, there might be some bugs, it was a far harder problem than I anticipated.

Thanks again for playing our game and for leaving a comment!

Submitted(+1)

I feel all of that. Thanks for clearing that up :) Keep it up. Loved it still :)

Also text on cards is a bit hard to read...

Submitted(+2)

I really like this game, it gives me Loop Hero vibes!

Two things I would suggest are:

  • to give indicator for cards already present in the deck,
  • speed up function.

I wish you good luck and I hope more people will try it!

Developer

Thank you for your comment! Yea, we where thinking on a speed selector, we just didn't get the time, so we left two speeds, no speed and normal.

The deck indicator I didn't think of it, but it is a great idea! As the game draws inspiration from loop hero and you just can't make a game that big in a Jam, I just didn't think how to solve this problem in particular.

Submitted(+1)

In Slay the Spire, there was a small circle with a number that showed cards left in a deck.  It did not explicitly stated what it is, but when player drew cards, the number would decrease to correspond to cards drawn.

And yeah, I agree with time limitations of a jam + it is easy to forget things to do + there is life as well :)

Developer

The deck numbers were in the game, they weren't showing because of a bug, but we just patched it, as we found a critical bug with the discard pile.

Submitted

Good Job!  Critical bugs always find a way to sneak on!
