Great job!

I found the theme a bit weird but the game is quite fun to figure out and play. Maybe it would be even better if there was some sort of challenge or opponent.

Graphics and audio are very well made and design of some late game cards is hilarious.

Oh, and you might want to clamp maximum damage output. I managed to get an overflow. πŸ˜

Developer

thanks! yeah a few people have had that issue. it's something we're definitely planning to look into!

Wow. This game looks great. I think scaling up the card you're hovering over would've added a lot, and the game could definitely do with a balance patch, but this looked and felt very polished. Nice Job!

Developer

thanks for the feedback! the balance is broken intentionally, since we wanted the numbers to scale crazy high as you moved through the game. we probably over did it a bit though haha

I’m not sure if I hit a bug, or if things really really scaled up crazy, but I had a turn where I played some card that I didn’t particularly like but ended up with 164,000 scaling at the end of it… hmm. But at least I got way past 50 fish before turn 20. :)

That weird situation aside, the game is super well made. The graphics are so clean and so detailed, there’s so much attention to detail in all the animations, the music is well fitting, and all in all it’s a very polished and well put together game! It would be cool if there were some new cards in the deck that would let me keep some of my current cards in my hand between rounds. That would have made the game a bit more about thinking ahead and complex in a good way. But all in all, it’s a great game as is.

Great job team!

Developer

thank you so much for your feedback!

cards keep the applied bonuses until they're played, so it's possible that you got 164,000 through the gameplay. it's hard to know for sure tho haha -- in response to your other feedback, we originally planned for a lot more card effects, including a card that would let you keep your hand at the end of a turn, but had to cut them due to time. i definitely agree there are opportunities to add more complexity to the gameplay.

Quite the fun little deck builder. I grew my knife power so high I was just scaling fish non-stop.

Very on theme and  good amount of polish, Great work.

Developer

thanks !

Not sure if it was just my screen, but when I'd drawn a lot of cards they went out of view and couldn't be scrolled to/selected. Otherwise smooth play and beautiful art!

Developer

we ran out of time to include a planned hand resizing feature based on how many cards you had. glad you enjoyed it otherwise! :)

Wow, what are these graphics? Super cool game with a very original idea for the Jam. Great job! ^^

Surprisingly fun card game that really fits the theme well.
It starts off slow and I was afraid it would be a generic card game there. But the new cards really made the deck work better and better. There sure are some different builds possible with this.

There is no maximum hand size, but the game also doesn't allow you to scroll to cards off screen. I was able to double the Draw 6 cards prep and sadly there were a lot of cards off screen that I could not reach.
Also for high scoring rounds, consider showing the fish scaling animation as scaling multiple fish at once. My best round was 9 fish in one round and I think you can get much higher than that even, but the animation, although lovely, is the same each time so waiting for 9 fish to be scaled is just a lot of wasted time then.

Great job on this one !

Developer

thanks for your feedback! we originally had intended the hand to resize based on how many cards you hard but didn't have time time. a skip button for the scaling animation is also in the works. 9 fish is a lot, but i know someone who had to wait through 26 fish one turn -- definitely not fun haha

Really nice game, nice ambiance. I got myself in a loop turn 17 too but without any boost card i only did 5k points ^^

Developer

thanks! :)

Nice game, really well polished, for me it's spot on with music and theme interpretation, but lacks a bit in gameplay.

Developer

thanks for the feedback !

Developer

thank you:)

Got myself into a nice loop on turn 17, I think I might have overflown the max number of scales though because the game sadly crashed after I ended my turn :( I love this game!! Your graphics are amazing, the sounds are amazing, very well put together. I’m certainly inspired.

Developer

Thank you! :)

Yes, those numbers look amazing haha! :D  I think it's fair to say that seeing this screenshot, you've won ... by a margin! :D

Clever, well polished, well balanced, fun, juicy, interesting, bug-free, ambitious, excellent game.

Really well done. 5*

As a Hearthstone fan, I'm a sucker for deck building games. Really great take on the theme, love the ability to change your deck between each turn. Great music, graphics and a really high amount of polish in everything including the UI. I wasn't able to get to 50 fish in 20 turns but got quite close on my second attempt. Great job!

Developer

Thank you! :)

Cool game! I want the UI to be a little bit bigger, and I would really like to see some immediate danger when playing, like if you do not scale the fish fast enough the customers will leave negative comments which makes your reputation fall which when 0 the game will end, instead of just scaling a fish without any danger.

Developer(+1)

That's not really our vision for the game, but thanks for playing! :)

Btw you lose if you haven't scaled 50 fish in 20 turns

I really like card games, but I liked this game. Congratulations. I especially liked the art and sound effects.

Developer

thanks!! :)

Polished, well-scoped game, balance is good. Music fits well and doesn't get painful to listen to after repetition.

Possible improvements: If there is no time left and the cards cover up the end turn button then you are potentially locked out of progressing, I almost encountered this situation but not quite because the button wasn't 100% covered. Text is hard to read if not in fullscreen.

But overall I gave this game a very high score because it beats nearly all of the other games by a mile.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the kind words! Yes we didn't have time to fix the card draw but, it was supposed to be responsive no matter how many hand cards exist

Really cool game, good job!

Thank you so much! :)

I really like how you interpreted the theme, the dynamic of fish scaling integrated with the card game is very original and well done!

Developer

Thank you very much! :)
