very fun game! there is so much character and charm in this one
wow it’s so good looking and the gameplay is smooth nice game!
I loved the art so much! Also loved how goofy the hero looked lmao.
How did you possibly have time to make this? The incredible opening cutscene, the sheer number of objects and intractables, the appeal of the animation... bravo.
Thank you! Glad you liked it :)
The easy answer is... not sleeping much! hahaha
I'm laughing non-stop while playing this game. HAHAH. And the number of things you can do to delay the hero is so many that you won't realize that you're about to finish the game without being bored. The art is spot on too. Looking forward to the team's next project! Great job.
Thank you for your kind comment!
We are so happy you liked it :)
The opening performance was absolutely fantastic! It was both entertaining and hilarious. The game concept is brilliant, and the various mechanisms are designed so well. If there was a real-life hero like this, I would definitely run away, he is an absolute beast!
Thank you for your nice comment :)
If he was real, we would probably run away also hahaha
Hahahahaha! I love the cutscene and animations played during the gameplay! The 90's cartoon vibe fits really well.
One thing I really wished for is a little buffer at the edge of the play screen. Basically, 90% of the gameplay happened on the right half of the screen. I get to the edge of the screen and there's no way I can see what's ahead and it doesn't let me plan out what to do next. I constantly felt cornered.
Still, it is a nice and short game. I feel like I just watched a cartoon show. haha
Hey! Thank you for your comment!
The gameplay was designed that way because we wanted the player to feel that the hero is always aproaching and cornering so they, so they would use whatever prop appear on screen to try and stop him! But maybe you are right and we have to revise the gameplay a little :D
And thank you for the Cartoon comment, that was really what our artist was going for!!!
Of course!
Yeah, it's just the play area thing I was mentioning.
All in all, it was pretty great :D
Fun theming on the infinite running genre (although I know it's not really infinite)! The cutscenes are SO well done, and I had fun chucking items at the "hero"! I would have enjoyed maybe having a loose condition, and I think the relief from seeing the
SPOILERat the end while having a loose condition would make the ending cutscene even funnier than it already is. I really enjoyed seeing all the different animations of the hero getting squished and fired up. Great job!Yes, we very much would have like to have that too!!! But we run out of time hahaha
Probably in the future we will add a few things of the sort just to feel that the job is finished :D
Thanks for your feedback :)
I love the idea, you tell the story pretty well, it looks and sounds really good, and the intro is so nice!
As said by others, I think it has potential to be expanded into a bigger game, with maybe a bit more player agency with choices and strategy to escape. Good job!
Thank you for your comment and feedback :)
We are very proud of how that intro and ending turned out despite how sleep deprived we were! haha
And we wanted to add more depth and features but we run out of time! :´)
The concept is hilarious and, and the visuals are really good. On the gameplay note, I just wish the controls were a bit different, because I got confused all the way because of how close the WASD, Z and X are (at least, for me, it didn't feel much intuitive as it could be). It would be good also to adjust the screen velocity or the characters velocity so you don't feel like you're always about to get in the conner of the screen, as well have some sort of penalty (like the classic 3 strikes, you're out and you have to retry), unless there are some penalties in place besides the throwing animation and I didn't pay attention (sorry if that's the case). Overall, great concept, and I think it can be expanded into something bigger easily. Good job.
Hey! thanks so much for your feedback :)
We think that the game is best played using the arrows or a joystick for movement, maybe the possibility of using wasd was an oversight from our part because yes, pressing Z and X cand become quite tedious.
The screen moves by its own because we wanted the game to make you feel that you are being chased and cornered by the hero at all times, hence why you have to use the props that appear onscreen to slow him down.
And we wanted to add some sort of penalty and multiple endings depending on how well youve done but we run out of time! hahaha
Again, thank you so much for your comment and feedback! :)
Very good entry, loved the level of polish, the cutscenes and music. That last song reminded me of this song from Mario & Luigi: Superstar saga. I understand that because you can't win there isn't a game over condition, but you could pivot this game into an endless runner type of game and have the distance run as a score and at the end play your cutscene.
That’s certainly one possibility for us after the jam, but we ruled it out fast due to the 48-hour limit. Glad to see we’re not the only ones who think it has infinite runner potential!
This was pretty fun!
Simple idea and premise, and I like how it subverts the expectations by literally just giving us to control villian and nothing else. It's neat how we're basically just delaying the inevitable!
I also really liked this artstyle! So silly! And the game has some good humor value too!
Not a nitpick, not a complaint, but rather a suggestion: Maybe instead of red arrows it could be red crosses on the floor? Or is it too cliche? I don't know, but the game is already really good either way!
Heey thanks for such good feedback! :D
We were literally considering either the red arrow or the red cross on the floor for signaling lol. Maybe the red cross or even both would have been better! Thanks for pointing that out :)
Clichés can be good in some contexts, we’ll look into that probably :D
Fun, simple and definitely on theme! Great job!
Loved it!
Simple, fun, and a great idea that fits the theme super well.
Really well done :)
Haha I loved the artstyle and you made me laugh with the cutscene!
Great game but I don't know if you can win, I miss some health bar or sth like that!
Really nice jam submission! Congrats!
Very fun game! I liked the overall vibe. The concept was interesting and well executed. The only criticism I have is that gameplay was getting a bit monotonous at the end. Still, good job on the game.
Hilarious game! Loved the overall style!
I like this! Incredibly funny and the gameplay was very fun. I think having a points system where you lost points for being attacked would be good, even as just an endless mode or something. I was starting to wonder if there was an ending right around the time the ending happened, but I do feel like some sort of progress meter would be good so that people don't give up before reaching the end. Great job overall!
Thank you for your comment! That is actually a good idea and we wanted to implement it but sadly, time was not on our favour! hahaha
I love the intro sequence and the running animations the most. This is a fun sidescroller!
I wish there was an end- if there is, I couldn't find one by trying to win OR by trying to lose. Also, I really wished the screen moved faster to keep the intensity going!
That said though, the actual game works really well. It runs smoothly, is intuitive, and has great graphic and sound design.
Nice work!
Hey thank you for playing and your comment! We are happy you ve enjoyed it :)
But what do you mean there is no end?? There is a final cutscene once the level is over!
I guess I didn't have the patience to get all the way to the end. Eventually I tried to let the hero kill me but it seemed like I had infinite health so I kind of gave up. Definitely wasn't meant as a criticism though, so maybe I would amend my statement to say that I wish the end came sooner.
I thought originally that it was one of those infinite procedurally generated running games like Jetpack Joyride, so I think that's what I was expecting.
Thats okay! We were asking because we were afraid that there was a bug that prevented the end from happening!
And we get what you said! One of our fears was that it would look like an infinite procedurally game and people wouldnt get that it had an end. We were thinking of ways of fixing this but you know... game jam times are cruel, so we hacent had time to tackle that haha
This was such a polished jam game! I really liked it and I got really into it. Only thing that took me down a notch was the controllers, but that's definitely something you can improve on after the voting period, if you're still interested in improving the game. ^^
Thanks, yes we are interested in improving the game! Were you expecting an alternative with WASD controls or something similar?
Yes! I guess I'm really used to navigating with WASD ^^"
