This is a really fantastic entry! The gameplay is simple and easy to understand, but it scales up nicely. Lots of great feedback and sound effects, nice touches like the book also lighting up the elements you've already got selected, and I love the cozy vs time difficulty option!
My only trouble was that it was sometimes hard to read the book, but that was solved by hitting the enter key like you have written. I think having that extra diegetic UI was absolutely worth it. Amazing job!
Thank you so much! We certainly need to do some more polish on the readability of the book, but having everything be diegetic was important to us. I'm glad you enjoyed it!
This game is perfect! I spent about half an hour playing, I really love the vibe, art. music, gameplay, literally everything :) It's so polished and an absolute pleasure to play, thank you for making this, it's very impressive!
Thank you! It means a lot that you enjoyed it so much!
Wow, another game that is super polished and is really enjoyable! It was incredibly satisfying mixing all those ingredients to create vials, potions and elixirs. There is just this something about colorful potions (crystals work as well) that is so pleasing to the eye. At first I couldn't make orders in time since web versions generally work slower, but I downloaded it and it was so much better. Some tracker would be nice to not repeat tutorial every time you try again. One of the best games this jam, good work.
Thank you so much for you kind words!
The artist will be very happy to hear your praise over their work, I'm very proud of them!
We tried our very best to get it working smoothly on web (got down to 200 batches) but I guess it still needed some more work :D
I did consider a flag for repeat users but between time constraints and trying to figure where I'd put the option to let users repeat the tutorial if they wanted I decided against it. If we took this further we'd definitely add that sort of thing :)
This game looks really great! I liked how you always felt like you were making progress by unlocking the next stage of potion making.
Maybe it would have been good to unlock more types of ingredients/vials/potions as you went on to more slowly introduce you to the different types - this would have given people more of a chance to memorise some of the recipes.
Thank you for playing, I'm glad you enjoyed it!
That's a great idea, and if we take it further we'd certainly consider something like that. There is a certain element of that in there, with each round having a subset of available vials/potions/elixirs that can be requested, but didn't have time to go further with it.
Cool concept and well polished, had fun !
Thank you for playing! Glad you enjoyed it :)
That is some great presentation!
Thank you! We put a lot of effort (and coffee!) into the visuals this year. Glad you liked it!
An interesting idea with a lot of polish. Following multi-level recipes to create a single product is challenging, but in a good way. The art and music are very detailed and fit the magical potion-making feel. The tile in the bottom left would often land upside down, making it impossible to see the image, and sometimes the vials and potions would spawn behind something or stacked, meaning I needed to quickly switch to and from the book to see them. However, as a whole this is a very enjoyable and well made game.
Thank you for the feedback. I certainly does need some polish! I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Nice game man
Thank you, hope you enjoyed our game!
The artwork is absolutely amazing! The design makes it feel like I'm actually spreading everything out on my desk, which is so exciting. Creating those colorful potions was really fun! (By the way, I noticed a button that shuffles the potions—was that intentional?)
Oh no, you found our debug bottle! Ha ha! We forgot to remove that from the game. Thankfully nobody else has pointed it out or seemed to have noticed! Whoops! I'm glad you had fun!
A really interesting interpretation of the theme! And a brilliant game, well done! :3
Thank you, we're quite happy with this year's entry! Glad you enjoyed it!
I enjoyed the music and art. It got a bit repetitive having to flip back and forth, but the actual making of the recipes was a fun experience.
We wanted to play with the idea of having less recipes, and then the player would be able to memorise some of them to reduce the amount of time spent in the book. But with the nature of GameJams, we didn't get a chance to flesh that out. Thank you for the feedback, I hope you had fun!
Yes I had fun and got all the way to the end
I had a bit of difficulty at first to find the good ingredients but once i understood, the game was really fun and smooth :D
Yes, I think the game definitely needs a polish pass. the colours can be tough to see at times! I'm glad you enjoyed it though!
Wow, what a beautiful experience that is really situated in the space. I love how both messy and organized the table is! Thank you for the game (:
Ha, this comment made me laugh! I'm quite an organised person, so it was tough for me to arrange a messy assortment of props! I guess that kinda came through! Thank you for the lovely words!
What an excellent game! Love the art style and music, makes me feel like a real potion seller! Only complaint would be that the timed difficulty feels a little too hard, I know there is an easier one but I think the jump between stages is too high and extra time or help should be given. However, the game is excellent and even worthy of being sold online in my opinion if worked on even more! You should be proud of yourself!
I'm glad you enjoyed it! Thank you so much for your kind words!
Unfortunately due to the longer nature of the gameplay compared to some of our previous entries it took quite a while to play through each time and we didn't quite have enough time to properly balance timed mode, I only had time to make sure it what possible.
We've said as a team if we get to the to the top 20 we'll have a serious discussion about taking further, so its in the hands of the people now! :D
Really nice game, loved the presentation! When doing potions I just didn't know what how to make the vials and lost before understanding the controls correctly, would be good to have at least one potion brewing mission without time limit to let the player understand the new scaled up gameplay. Loved the physicality of the game and the cards and vials gameplay, really nice.
Glad you liked the game! We really appreciate the kind words.
We didn't have the time we wanted to balance the timed mode, but that's partly why we included cozy mode, so you can get to grips with the game before returning for a challenge :)
Not my preferred genre but I gave it a go. The artwork / assets are well made and the gameplay is quite anxiety inducing with the timer but I enjoyed it. Great effort.
Thank you for giving our game a chance, it of course won't be to everyone's taste! I'm glad you enjoyed it regardless!
Love the idea of scaling a business, good job!
This was a particularly difficult theme for us this year, but we're happy with the final design. Thank you!
Kinda of Unique take on the theme, and visually stunning. Music was great too. Not my kind of game but I can see he appeal for those that are into it. Great work!
Would greatly appreciate it if you checked out my game!
Thank you for the nice comment! This isn't for everyone, of course, but thank you for giving it a chance!
Love the theming going on here, the game is a little hard for me personally, although that probably comes down to me being bad at these sorts of games. It didnt help that the potion-making instructions were sometimes hard to read though, with small text thats tilted away from the viewpoint, even with the enter key it still took away time with having to move between the pages.
I absolutely adore the concept though, id be interested in seeing how crazy you could go with these layered crafting recipes.
The game can be quite tough. Game balance is tricky in the time scales! We hope that the inclusion of Cozy mode helps with that for a more relaxed vibe. And yes, the book overall needs some work to be clearer, it is probably the aspect that needs the most work! I hope you enjoyed your time here regardless, and thank you for the kind words!
This is a super unique take on the theme. The 3D art direction and lighting is also really good, I just had a small problem where a specular light was preventing me from seeing the colour of a vial. I'm surprised it's possible to make something like this in 96 hours
Thank you for the kind words! And yes, the lighting was a bit tricky, and one of those things on the todo list to fix which we never had time to address! But that's just GameJams for you!
