Very interesting game, although I feel a more hand-holding tutorial would be in order :) Good job!

Developer

You're totally right. In the span of the jam I only had time for a few screenshots with text, but a proper tutorial would definitely have helped newer players a lot better. Glad you enjoyed it nonetheless though, thanks for playing!

Great game ! The art and music are so well done, the gameplay is by far great. I think this one is one of my favorites so far ! Keep up the good work :)

A well-designed 3d functional game, that follows the interest of the players.

It's totally one of the great games in this genre

Keep up the good work.

Hope to see you playing my game :)

Interesting take on the theme. Building a scalable space station was fun. I also like how it constantly make you take choices with different tradeoffs.

The graphics are very nice. It's impressive that you've managed to make such a detailed 3d game for a jam.

The balancing was good though it was quite hard to  get people. All other resources were managable to get.  I also think that instead of having a single random event button, it'd be better to offer the player a choice between multiple events. The events can be very feast or famine so having some level of control would go a long way..

The BGM and SFX are very sci-fi and gave me the vibe of being on a spaceship.

Overall a very solid entry.

Developer

Thanks a lot for your in-depth reply, I really appreciate it and I'm glad you enjoyed it! I've been thinking about how to give the player more control over the next events myself as well and remove a bit of randomness from it. Having multiple choices would definitely help in that regard, although it also might make it easier to dodge any negative encounters. What do you think? Would that make it too easy? I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Perhaps you can try giving the player partial info about the events instead of telling them outright. You could base this on alien races. The event icons could show the race but not the what the event is. There could be a run metagame of picking choices of the same race. Maybe you could build rapport with a particular race and get items that boost favourable outcomes from that race's events.

The visual is on point, a lot of stuff are explained so i was never lost. It was cool to play good job !!

I like this game, it looks incredibly good! I have some suggestions though. For example the scrap yard recycles plastic even when there are no people working in it, which sometimes is annoying when you really need plastic. Furthermore I think it could be a little more balanced (I know balancing is extremely difficult...) since at one point I was just spamming next events for resources. Nonetheless I think it's a really cool game and definitely amazing for the short amount of time you had available. Good job!

Developer

Yea, I basically put all of my time into adding more mechanics and trying to get as much content. In the end balancing just went out the window and even though I did try to keep it in mind, it's just really hard if you don't have the time to sit there and carefully compare costs, rewards and events. It's definitely one of the most heard complaints from people and I totally agree with it. I also agree that you should be able to stop production buildings from costing resources, so I'll be sure to address that in a future update as well. Thanks for your feedback! I really appreciate it.

interesting take on the theme, I also did something somewhat similar haha

I somehow destroyed my own city oops.

Strangely one of the only city builders I've seen so far, and as far as those go, this is a pretty good one. The art and music are extremely polished, and all the mechanics work extremely well. My one complaint would be that the difficulty is maybe a little overtuned, but honestly, it's hard to get the balance right in only four days when playtesting is basically nonexistent. This game is insanely well done for only 96 hours of work!

Developer

Thank you so much for your kind words! I totally agree about the balance part, it definitely needs some tuning. Really happy to hear you've enjoyed it though! Thanks for playing

It's one of the more complex games this year! I cant seem to get too far with out dying, but I enjoy the process!

Very cool game, it's really polished and it has a lot of content! Thanks for making this :)

This game is just perfect, I really enjoyed the game loop. The graphics, music and the ui are great. The events are super varied. I died like 12 times and i want to stay playing. Great job!

The scope for this game was quite impressive for a game jam, but you pulled it off rather well.

Submitted(+1)

I did not play this well, but the quality and cohesion of the sounds and graphics really felt great as I was managing my population. I really loved the ui and encounter variety!

Developer

Glad you enjoyed it! There's definitely a learning curve to it at the moment that requires some trial and error, and some of the RNG isn't entirely balanced, so I can understand if it didn't entirely go your way :D

Thoroughly enjoyed this, and plan to play it more later. The aesthetic and style is on point, the writing is good, and the UI (which is obviously integral) is mostly intuitive. The only gripe I would have is it is too easy to screw yourself really early on in the game, but for a short game jam game, this is a really really really good entry. Would definitely be interested in a more developed version.

Oh boy, it was such cool experience!

It would be nice to have how details about building before you want to place them.
Like I'm always forgetting how much resources Residential will cost me in a long run, especially at the beginning where no placed buildnigs and I can't look in details there.
Also, if you bring building construction window and encounter next event it will stay the same ignoring resource change. You can click on the target place again to update it thought.

There many entries which I tried. But this one I definitely want to play like a full game!

I have over 9000 resources! I'm unstoppable!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for your feedback Jack! I totally agree, knowing what you're going to build would also make the first time experience a lot smoother. Really glad you enjoyed it, thanks for the kind words!!

Impressively scoped game for a game jam! Had fun playing - the music and dialogue gave eerie sci-fi vibes, I dig it.

Really fun resource management base building game with lots of really fun immersive encounters fitting the space sci-fi theme!!! They had lots of interesting text and choices to make and all the game visuals were really appealing! (Double statisfying when looking at how big your base can get! :D)

Had a good time with this one! Feels like the kind of game that makes sense as a board game, but is more practical as a video game because of the automation of all the resources. Had some trouble getting started without dying in a few turns, but eventually was able to get a stable set-up. Wish I could see what boosts each building offers before building, though it's easy to memorize after a while and you can reference already-built buildings anyway.

City ended up in a bit of a mess but it's functional!

Developer(+1)

Damn, you got an impressive amount of work done in your city haha! And yea I agree that would be a great QoL feature to add to a future build. Glad you had fun and thanks for playing :D
