This is really cool, both the critters and the enemies have neat designs and it is quite varied. I like the attention to deatil (like the crab following the movement of the mouse in the menu). :D
Wow, this game was well put together with attention to detail! I had a lot of fun with it.
Super fun game, a tower offence like rarely seen and that offers two game modes? Very ambitious but works nonetheless! The artstyle is very cute, although can someone please remove that plastic thing from that seagull?? D:
Music and sfxs are also very nice, the "yeays" really fit the whole beach/summer vibe!
Overall very nice game, there's such a huge possibility for future complex and fun levels that could be designed with all these different units and enemies!
Lovely graphics. Puzzle mode was better than arcade mode. Bit of a head-scratcher at times but got there in the end. Good game.
Really enjoyed the music, especially the title/loading screen music.
Cool idea to include both puzzle and arcade mode, but I think I would have preferred a more complete/polished version of either, although it’s possible I just didn’t get the arcade mode and missed something.
The puzzle mode progressed interestingly, but I didn’t really feel like I need to think much, except on maybe one or two of the levels. The arcade mode kept telling me I failed but I couldn’t figure out how to get mating pairs across since I only ever had one of each fish.
Regardless, nice visuals, nice music, and cool concept. Nicely done!
Thanks for playing!
In development, I thought arcade mode was too easy, so maybe I tweaked the values down to make it too hard.
In the procreate level, there might be more fish hiding under the rocks.
But I agree. In hindsight it seems obvious that we should have fully committed to one mode of play, and not try to have both. Good point.
Really cute game. Loved the different mechanics in the puzzles. I didn't realize there were tooltips until I was close to the end, so it was a lot of trial and error up until that point. The graphics were so well done. Overall a really great game!
fun & chill gameplay, reminds me to start planning my holidays :D
Nice! very cute very consistent. love the different types of sea creature that you can use, the mouse pointer and the aesthetics are nice, definitely a fun game to go back to every so often.
Cheers for the great jam input!
Super fun, congrats!
This is impressive. Both in quality and quantity it.
The only thing missing is quick restart option
Thanks for playing!
We foolishly hid the "restart level" button in the pause menu (esc key), then forgot to tell anyone about it.
Fun and cute, consistent art direction. I would have liked less real time obstacle moving around. I enjoyed the Puzzle mode.
Thanks for playing!
Point taken. I'll reduce the random elements next game. :) We struggled to make the arcade mode compelling. When the player has a lot of units, it's very easy to clear one lane and march them all through. So the random tower movement was a late-stage addition to make sure the player had to watch the board, at least a little bit.
I love the concept of a "reverse tower-defense" that's like a puzzle game where you're trying to place units in the right orders and spots to get through the defenses.
However, I found both the puzzle and arcade modes confusing at times. For example, I didn't even realize some units could damage towers until I did it by accident while trying to figure out the second level. And some units seemed to attack in ways that I didn't totally understand. In the arcade mode, I found the movement of the towers completely unpredictable and just tried to time things to get through.
All that said, this is still quite impressive and fun once I got the hang of all the mechanics at play. I think it would be a concept worth exploring further if that's something you're interested in doing. Oh, and the art is absolutely adorable. Great work!
Thanks for playing! Good point about arcade mode being unpredictable. One of our developers said we should forecast the movement of towers and arrival of fishing hooks, but we didn't have time + energy left to implement that at the end. It's a good idea though. Players can't make decisions without information, so we should telegraph those actions.
I really LOVE the art style. The crab's eyes following my mouse cursor put a big smile on my face.
I had a lot of fun playing and was impressed with all the fish variations. I took me a minute to realize my fish could attack back, but once I did, it opened up the game for me. I was confused at Arcade mode at first, but I think you have a fun concept with the breeding pairs.
I'd love an option to reset the level after I made a mistake or lost my goal fish. I also felt like each stage in Puzzle mode should end after the goal fish made it to safety.
Really great work! I'd love to see you continue to develop this game.
Thanks for playing.
I guess we forgot to tell people the level reset button is in the pause menu, which you can activate by pressing the escape key.
I really like the art and sound, and I was impressed you included two modes.
The puzzles were kinda cool, but felt a little loose after the first one. It seemed like I didn't have to worry about most of the obstacles.
Arcade mode mostly involved placing all of my critters really quickly? With enemies popping in and out all the time it was hard to come up with much strategy. Maybe having set obstacles from the start would make each level feel more intentional (you could consider sacrificing one type to let a breeding pair through, for example).
Overall, it was fun!
Thanks for playing! Great insights!
Very polished complete game. I was able to get through several of the puzzle levels. It was a bit hard to understand the timing or if that mattered. I just rushed my fishies as fast as they could to the finish line and it worked! Had a blast and now I need a beach vacay. Thanks!
Cool puzzle game, I feel bad for the ones who didn't make it
Really nicely put together! Well done gang!
Cute graphics and solid gameplay!
Such a Solid Game, a bit confusing with some characters you use but its pretty neat
Very confusing. Thanks for playing!
I survived 14 levels on the arcade mode.
