Nice little game concept ๐!
I read in the comments that there was only one level, and I was trying to progress further, haha. It would be nice to see a bigger game out of this concept, adding more features like the ideas in the comments.
As someone already mentioned also: maybe a mobile game. The art style was simple but fits the type of game. It's a pity there was no music or sound effects included. That would give it something extra. Strange power-ups were also hard to find...
But all in all, a good small concept with potential for more. Keep it up๐ช!
Thanks for hosting!! Appreciate the kind words and honest feedback. Yeah only the 5 words/1 level to discover lol. Glad to hear you thought the concept was interesting, and I agree its more suited for mobile. It's lacking a lot of juice/polish and SFX/music would certainly have helped. Thanks for playing my game!
It's a small and fun concept, and it would have been great to see it developed further, maybe for mobile? :) Overall a nice game!
glad to hear you liked the premise! mobile is an interesting idea. Thanks for playing!
Very interesting word game :D, After completing level 1, (5/5 of 3 letter words) I couldn't pass to the 2nd level, but maybe there isn't or I did something wrong, I don't know, if we could take our character with these powerups and go and do a action platformer things with him, it would be awesome :D. Well thought and well made game, congrats.
Thank you very much for the feedback and giving my game a shot! Glad to hear that you liked the concept for the game. There's no second level sadly, you beat the game lol, nice job :) A couple people have mentioned taking the character into a platformer after with your unlocked powerups and I think that's a really solid idea. Maybe next time. Thanks again!!
A very cute and fun idea and one that wouldve been very cool to see fleshed out more. Very innovative play on the theme with a lot of potential
Appreciate the kind feedback, it's nice to hear that you liked the premise! I wish it was more fleshed out too lol, one of these days I'll finish a game for a jam, I swear. Thanks for playing!
Very intriguing game. *Speaking like Gaster*
Thank you, Senor Gaster
๐คฃ๐ You're welcome
I really enjoyed playing the game! It's engaging, and I think it's perfect for mobile. However, I initially found it difficult to understand how the game works, especially when it comes to guessing the words and using powerups. A short tutorial or example of what to do would really help new players get into the flow faster.
Also, I noticed that sometimes the word doesn't register correctly, likely due to the game treating the spacebar (jump) as part of the string. It would be great if that issue could be fixed to improve gameplay. Overall, I love the concept, and I'm excited to see more of it!
Thanks so much for playing and leaving some feedback!! I agree the mechanics are pretty confusing, a more clear tutorial would have helped. Another person suggested just being able to click on the words instead of having to type them in again which makes a lot of sense too. And good call on the spacebar lol you're right, I just didn't bother fixing it. Glad to hear you liked the concept!
The title definitely piqued my intrigue and made me want to play the game :)
While I did brute force my way through the entire alphabet to get the 5 words, seeing the powerups was a cute reward. Based on your responses to other comments, I would love have tried out your refined version of your game!
thank you for playing and the kind words :) I'm glad to hear you liked the idea for the game!
This is an interesting Concept for sure. I liked it and its quite unique. Nice!
thank you for the kind words and for trying my game!
Very strange powerups for sure but I like the puzzle game, finding words.
This could easily be like a puzzle platformer where each word had a different effect on the player that helped you towards the goal. So this game has an interesting potential later on! What did the overscoped button btw?
thanks for the solid feedback! Puzzle platformer is a great idea hadn't thought of that at all, would be a fun gameplay loop. The overscoped button was going to be an achievement tracker that ties into the (also overscoped) exp system, where you would get exp for discovering new words or combining them in new ways to create new power-ups. The combining mechanic would have let you, for example, do "cat" + "fat" to get a double power-up that was a hybrid of the two. And you'd get different rates of exp for jumping or moving around the level in certain ways with different power-ups equipped. So the player would have to experiment with power-up combos to complete certain achievements and find the best ways to level up what was meant to be a Tamagotchi-esque character. Thank you for playing
Interesting ideas you have!
Very on-theme with the strange powerups - I liked that you got them from guessing words and inputting them. It would have been nice to be able to click on the words I've collected or otherwise select them to get the powerup, instead of having to click and then type them in. I also wasn't sure what to do with the powerups, but I thought I liked collecting them. Thanks for sharing!
Appreciate the kind words and the good feedback! Clicking on the words would have been a nice quality of life change I agree, it doesn't make sense to have to re-type them after you've already discovered them (but it was a lot easier to implement that way lol). I didn't get much of the gameloop finished so there isn't much to do with the power-ups but glad you liked discovering them, thanks for playing :)
Original idea, and I liked the "kindle" look :) Needs more work though- I can imagine that the words would be used in creative ways during the gameplay
Thanks for the feedback and playing my game! There was lots of stuff I wanted to add that would have made it more of a game but just didn't get to. But glad to hear you liked some stuff about it :)
I didn't really get the game, but I do think it's a cool idea to give power ups to the player by using a dictionary of the words they wrote
It's not really much of a game tbf lol. There was a lot of game loop stuff I wanted to add but just didn't get to. Glad you liked the base premise, and thank you for playing!
"Ya already did that" got me of guard xDD I don`t understand why the box moves and jumps but I like it ^^
glad you had fun lol :) Thanks for playing and the feedback!
I found the words, but I don't seems to understand how to use the power ups
you have to click the magic wand icon and then type the word in and hit enter! and sometimes it reads the jump input as a character (spacebar) so you have to try again without that. Thank you for giving my game a shot!
So I tried again, and I like the use of words to have some power ups. I'm curious to see more of the gameplay if you ever decide to continue your game, since we don't know much about it right now
thanks for giving it another shot, thats dope of you!! I probably won't return to this game, but the idea was to have like 10-15 unlockable powerups and then you could combine each one to create a new power-up. So for example, "cat" plus "fat" would give you the cat sprite and floaty jump but also the stretched out image effect. And I wanted to have an XP system where each time you discovered a word or new combo powerup it would help you level up. And there would be secret acheivements and stuff associated with the different powerups. And you could also get XP from jumping around and then you'd have different titles as you leveled up. But I didn't add any of that Lol, so its barely even a game. but ignore my rambling, thanks for playing :)
