Very fun FPS with various strange power-upsπ!
The intro was already cool π!
The world looked good and the combination of 3D and 2D had something special. A completely unique style, and the music and effects all fit well together. It give it a nice vibe. Controls worked smoothly and I could walk and shoot and kick my way around the world with ease.
I had a great time with this game, so it's definitely a very good jam entry made in this time frame. Well done!πͺ
Fun game, the kick was really interesting I liked it, but it made me die :D , game map is huge open world with cool graphics, well made game.
The game is full of fun power-ups, my favorite being those kicks. Overall, the controls are very interactive and smooth. Besides being quite complete in terms of gameplay, it also has great atmosphere and sound design. Great work dude!π
Hey yo!,
this game has some nice visuals , art style is really good 2D mixed with 3D models a really intuitive way to present a game , I like it..
Audio/Music are nice aswell..
Overall I Like the game, Nice WORK!
Keep It Up..
Awesome game! The whole concept was really fun and executed well. I like how plentiful the power-ups were and how they each made you play a bit differently.
Itβs impressive how much you managed to accomplish in just 10 days, congratulations on the hard work and effort!
The game turned out wonderful. I really loved the way the 2D graphics were integrated into the 3D world, it added a unique touch and charm to the game.
The sound effects and music fit perfectly as well, really great job on that!
I would have liked to see a wider variety of enemy behaviors, but I completely understand that time constraints may have played a role in that.
I had a lot of fun, once again, congratulations on the game!
This game was very enjoyable to play. The powerups were all great, I really liked being able to mix the explosive powerup with the freeze powerup due to how effective it was. The variation in enemy types was well done as had to learn how to deal with each type differently. Also, the usage of 2D characters in a 3D world creates an incredible fun visual style. Overall, the game was amazing, great job!
Thanks! I wanted this game to have powerups that would combine in a nice way (although kick + speed and chill + taste explosion are the preferred combinations).
Glad you liked the 2d + 3d, because that's my preferred style!
Thanks for playing!
i liked the idea of the different powerups, the game is juicy and fun to play. my favorite ability was the kick, it just one tap most enemies. i am trying to give one critique to every game i play. so i guess for this game it would be fun if the enemies had some more behavior verity. sometimes it felt like i just circle the enemies and spam my mouse until they are all dead. also i dont know if it is just me but the boss doesnt attack.
if you made an easteregg then well done i couldnt find it.
overall, an amazing game i liked it a lot
There was no easter-egg :)
As for different enemy behaviors- It's a bit difficult to do in such a short time. All of the enemies actually use the same AI, but with differently set parameters (check out the devlog, if you want to read about it)!
Also, circle-strafing and shooting was the way this was meant to be played- I played DOOM and DOOM2 recently, and got intensely inspired :)
Really enjoyable gameplay leaving you wanting more. I finished the whole game! The music and sound were also really good. The usage of the 2d assets in the 3d world were very striking and impressionable.
Thanks! I always feel like I should do more with the sound, so I'm glad you liked it!
Amazing game! Surprising something like this can be made in 10 days.
Check out 7dfps jam. Those guys deliver solid shooters each year :)
Also, I've been a programmer for quite a while now. Not game dev, though. Normal dev :)
I wish to be some kind of programmer too some day, but honestly never touched anything related to it except for unity. This game is still far beyond anything i could have made, especially not in 10 days.
Oh man, I was intrigued when I saw Dick's funky pose in the game logo (great graphic by the way)... Then the game hooked me when I watched the cutscene. The trees flying by were hilarious - it gave me an insight into the character of Dick as he drove 90+mph down this country road.
Overall, the gameplay was nice and smooth - a pretty straight-forward shooter. I liked the environments and level design a lot - although I struggled to know where to go once I got to the area with the pentagram. After exploring a bit, I found my way to the end.
Dick's pose after each check-point is fantastic - great motivating for keeping going.
I might have had some bugs with the powerups - Occasionally when I collected the explosive coffee or the kick, I would have both the powerup and the pistol equipped at the same time. I dont think this was intentional because it limits the pistol to semi-auto when holding the explosive coffee - but it DID make me feel pretty badass.
Super fun game :) props to you and your team for the idea and the assets that brought it to life.
Yeah, the weapon bug. In the end I couldn't figure out why the code that should enable the correct weapon doesn't trigger right. I figured out a workaround but a bit to late- instead of disabling the gun I would have flipped the cup and leg, so that's it's on the left side, with gun still equipped :)
I'm really happy with your comment- I feel like you got the game exactly as I wanted it!
Thanks for playing!
Haha this was great. Felt like I was playing Goldeneye. The power-ups were definitely unexpected and cleverly titled. I like the use of 2d assets in a 3d game. The game could have been harder but I appreciated being able to go Rambo with no consequences. Very fun game.
I tend to make jam games a bit easier than I normally would. The early builds had health drain twice as fast, enemies doing twice the damage, and powerups half the time. In the end we decided just to make it easier. Not everyone is a seasoned shooter player. If you make a game for 7day FPS jam, they are, but maybe not in this one :)
Thanks for playing!
yo this game kicks some serious ass!! Such a fun playthrough excellent job! The intro cutscene is phenomenal I actually laughed like 3 or 4 times and you were able to do a ton of world building in just 30 seconds or so. The 3d trees zooming past while Dick Storm narrates is a perfect introduction to the crazy world of Mr. Storm. I love the 2d/3d hybrid artstyle, the music is awesome, you nailed the strange power-ups theme. Every power up feels great and fits the coffee narrative nicely, getting the kick and the runs at the same time is a blast. The coffee/health dynamic is a great design choice that forces the player to keep running and gunning. I genuinely can't think of anything bad to say, I really enjoyed this entry. 5 stars across the board for me. Its just a fun game period, and its refreshing to play something that doesn't take itself seriously and remembers that games are about fun.
Also happy 92nd bday to grandma (i read the devlogs lol, great read btw)!!! Mine's 93 :)
Thanks man, really nice to read that :D
I fell of the cliff, but other then that I likes your game. The game freezed a bit sometimes though
Noo, not the cliff! I thought I set the invisible walls right!
Other than that, glad you liked it!
Really enjoyed the blend of 3D and 2D, especially the black-and-white cartoon style—it fit perfectly! The kicking power-ups were a cool and strange addition that added a fun twist. The intro was absolutely badass! One thing I noticed is that enemies stay in a particular area, and I could shoot them easily from long range. It would feel more challenging if the enemies could move freely. Overall, great job with the visuals and creativity!
To be honest enemies SHOULD move more freely, but I must have messed something up with walk meshes (my guess is the triggers that "provoke" enemies are counted as walls, effectively dividing the levels into parts).
Funny game with coffee as powerup, you must have drinked lot of coffee haha.
I had trouble with the movement and camera movement of the game, it didn't felt smooth so I didn't play fullscreen and that helped a bit more than fullscreen. Overal I cheated the game by killing them without they even noticing me or exploiting the map by going up mountains haha.
Nooo :D
I accidently removed the terrain from that level, and what you see in a final game is a bit of a hack job, without the invisible walls that specifically didn't let you do that. But I wonder- didn't you skip the end level trigger that way? Because there are two more levels. One of which has a coffee Cthulhu
Yea I played until and defeated Cthulhu the first level I just cheated I think the other 2 where uncheatable haha
Really fun concept ! And great idea to combine 2D and 3D ! The map is cool, the gameplay and power ups are funny x)
The gameplay is also well polished and clear !
Good job !
Glad you liked it! Thanks for playing!
I was actually excited to play this one because of the art style. I love 3D games that implement 2D sprites for the enemies, weapons, etc. I loved the variety of the power-ups and the strangeness of them :) Overall, a solid game!
Thanks for playing! Glad you liked it!
My brother makes those sprites on a 15-year old copy of flash, to give them that early 2000's look :)
I loved the crazy intro and the story. Also the drawn enemies and the fact that you get a random Power-Up. Its so much fun! Leveldesign is very nice as well with different types of enemies and differend ways how to approach them.
My only critique would be that there is only one song in the game - its cool but I would have made another version for the intro maybe? But thats my inner composer speaking.
All in all a very cool submission. The crazy character and story is chef's kiss!
Yeah, I almost always try to include some story. I think it's more fun than just saying "oh, those are your powerups".
We created the character of Dick Storm a couple of years ago, when we tried to invent someone, who would be very good at one thing (fighting cults and ghosts), but maybe not so good at others (thinking that you train parkour under the inventor of parkour, and not a retired PE teacher), while being so cocky and confident that he never realizes it.
he is so cool! I love it!!
