Very good game! I liked the design of the magazine! And in general all the visuals are good! Also the gameplay was very nice!
Wow, just wow.
Cool atmosphere yes, but I got properly scared twice. The first time I died a to a mouth breather I was right next to it and it happened so fast I didn't know what to think. The second time I turned and saw it running at me; I was NOT expecting that. Clearly, I was the new Harry. The initial death, let's say, motivated me to read the journal entires.
The art was a bit... big. If you did this to make the environment a larger scale after having modeled everything, fair enough; it was not that bad. The visuals of the art were really nice though. I especially like the aesthetic of looking at the crooked fence with a little bit of sunset light off in the distance.
The sound design was well done. The horror sequence with Mary was nice. I would have liked it if it were a bit more obvious how much stamina I had; perhaps simply changing FOV while sprinting would better communicate when I am and and not and by proxy allow me to build a better intuition for how much I have and how fast it regenerates. The monster designs were well done; I like the analog horror style.
The journal entries were well written. The character of some senior graveyard worker trying to avoid any more losses to the supernatural was neat and the writing felt very natural.
The respawn transition and overall death-head-rolling sequence were well done. Not that I would know as I never died...
Good f***ing submission.
Thanks man, Im the art guy, I can tell you personally there was no intended sunset there, I put a brighter color over the horizon so silhouettes of the background looks "clearer". As much as I wanted to take credit for such a brilliant artistic choice, I was simply pushing buttons and see what works like a dumdum.
For the size problem, it was not intended either, I wasn't able to completely explore modelling the creatures since I had 24 hours and a whole lotta art to fill in, so the size might be all over the place, the headstone looks 7ft tall if you're standing on the hills. I guess we are just burying giants after all.
I have to personally apologize for the stamina system. I messed up, man. I am also half of the code guy.
Awesome, top tier jam submission! Fun, well made, hard but with checkpoints so it's not too punishing. I love the aesthetics too. Congrats!!
Love the journal, its art is well done. The generous checkpoint placement is also greatly appreciated.
The enemy variety is also amazing for just one week.
Cool art especially in the book, although the text is too much for me) Good soundtrack, and that running man really scared me a lot
This is great! A tad rough around a lot of the edges but I enjoyed my time with it, and did indeed jump a handful of times before I made it to the end.
I liked the variety of dealing with the enemy types, but I must say the pacing of it could have been handled more delicately to make horror gradually unveil. I love the journal notes but receiving them all immediately removes any potential suspense, maybe drip feeding them along the way while gradually unveiling the enemy types could be more effective. In the same way, seeing the lumber but not being able to pick it up, even after reading that you need to pick it up, feels a little too game-y. The sound design works great but is noticeably absent from some parts, like removing the mimics.
One major complaint is the length of the game over, when a lot of the time you barely see what killed you, it often seemed to take ages to finally die and get the black screen, its a neat little camera movement/animation, but feels like a drag waiting for it to end so many times.
Sorry to list so many critical things but it is because I did really enjoy the game! Great work within the constraints of the jam!
I loved the detailed artwork in the book and the stylized, cartoony visuals of the graveyard, which create a nice contrast with the creepy setting. The saving feature was a lifesaver, and the scare factor—especially with the “running man” enemy—was strong. The game has a few drawbacks, like the overwhelming amount of initial text, some bugs (like sounds persisting after death), and the unbalanced stamina mechanics. While the ending felt abrupt, I understand the time constraints of game jams. Overall, it’s a great game with ambitious ideas, though perhaps too many to fit in. Adding more time for exploration and fewer intense encounters would enhance player learning and pacing. Thanks for a memorable experience!
man this game is HARD. but i appreciate the checkpoints, they came in clutch during my run. Great job!
Just finished it. Lots of good stuff in here!
The progression saving system really surprised me! I was ready to have to do all over again first time I died when to my surprise, it saved my progress. Will definitely copy that in the future!
Also well guided to accomplish the main task.
I was a bit overwhelmed by the amount of text to read and could have been easier to digest if sprinkled as tips around the level perhaps.
Overall, it nails the horror vibes! Well done!
This game was amazing! I loved the concept of the journal which included all the information on the enemies. There were a few surprises with the enemies and I got jump scared a few times. You got the vibe of the game down pat, it's very atmospheric. The only complaint I would have is the font in the journal can be hard to read at times with the background. Great work!
Very great atmosphere and like how you are not powerless in the game if you remember how to handle the creatures.
Wow! It's surprisingly good little game. I love the atmosphere, you nailed the horror vibe, without scaring me too much to not wanna try again :D The arts and the overall 3D environment is very good, and it works great from the browser. I actually enjoyed this mechanic that I'm forced to read the journal.Oh and the sounds are good too! The only thing I somehow missed is more control from the keyboard (like going to the next page using arrows, or exiting with escape) but it's such a minor thing in the overall experience. Really liked it!
Love that the game is pretty straight-forward, the art is pretty nice, congrats for the huge attention to details!
Loved the game guys! Everything from the art work and detail in the journal to the unsettling atmosphere. I was creeped out before I even made it to the grave lol. Also made the mistake of turning towards the whisper.. hahaha. Fantastic job!!
I really liked the atmosphere and the models, as well as the effect where it feels like your neck is being snapped or your head is being cut off. The sound effects are also very good. Great job! 😎
