Game's Take on the Theme
Spinning has always been an important part of classical dance. We created the game around this idea, from the designs to the moves... Moreover the bonus/malus and healing system uses wheels of luck.

Did your team make the majority of the art and music during the jam?
All of the art is made by the team (except the fonts).

The art style is absolutely beautiful! The music also creates a great atmosphere. The difficulty and design of the bosses are really interesting! I especially love the design of the second ballet dancer boss—it’s so elegant!

However, I almost never managed to dodge the boss’s sliding attack. Normally, if you time the jump just right, you should be able to avoid it, but I seem to have trouble finding the right timing.

This is truly an amazing game, and I’m looking forward to seeing more levels and the story in the future!

Hey! Thanks for the comment. I'm glad you enjoyed my music!

I'll admit that the 2nd boss - while elegant - the slide is a bit of an issue. I think it would have helped if I had provided a sound effect to add an extra cue for the player. Definitely putting it in my notes for next time I do sound design. Thank you for your comment!

goods great and I really like the attack and healing system. Second boss was a little annoying cause she was always spinning lol.

Art is fantastic, so is the gameplay. Only thing is the boss disappeared during my run making it unable to beat after a certain point.

Developer(+1)

Oh how strange! Were you playing in the web version? That seems to have mixed results for different people. I can say for a near certainty that they don't disappear in the downloaded version, if you were interested in completing it. Thank you for your comment, I'm glad you enjoyed!

I was playing the web version.

Love astatic.

Please come and check out my duck game, very similar styled game.

The arts are very beautiful and the chain mechanic is satisfatory really good job here ( I died a lot )

Love the 2d style so much! The side-on visuals are really nice. Timing attacks is an interesting mechanic, I keep trying to dash through the boss (lol) but once I figured out that was a bad habit it's quite fun. Good luck akto!!

I love the art and the animations, also the ambient and narrative component of the story is great, that made me want to finish the game as soon i started it. (that last image hits hard haha)

I think my only comment would be to add a little more sound effects when hitting or being hit, as I think that would add more immersion.

I loved this game and the ballerina theme was great.

Game quite good, the art is best part, it is very good and nicely drawn and animatated. It also good take on the theme and like how feel like you dancing to beat the enemies. It fun to play and bosses was good , feel like it could be made into a full game that i would buy and play. Very good work on it

The hand drawn art is amazing, congrats!

Amazing visuals! but the default controls sucks! but good thing you added the options!
also it's not very visible when the boss is going to attack
i liked that you can heal but for a chance that you might lose health

Had a bit of a hard time with the controls but other than that i like it. The music and visuals are really cool, love the vibe

Really cool !!!! I'd love to see this game as a Run'n'Gun !! Bosses are not that hard, and all controls are kind of straight intuitive ! Good job, I love it !

I love the atmosphere you built and the art and music is lovely!  As for gameplay, it was difficult to tell what the boss was doing at times, especially the ballerina's slide move.  Having a more pronounced anticipation pose coupled with some quick vfx and sfx can really help with telegraphing attacks!  Awesome stuff!

Developer(+2)

Artist here, Thank you so much for playing ! We did what we could on the animation side but because we wanted to offer a fuller experience we opted to build wide (have 3 bosses and an ending) instead of concentrating on one boss and building tall, we feel like the animation can be reworked at a later date, I agree with you, thank you for the feedback !

Submitted(+1)

Yeah, it's definitely a trade-off!  I think what you guys have is great :>

Great atmosphere and music! I had a bit of trouble with the controls, but I feel the bosses are fair and quite balanced, I may or may not have qualms about the lives system but I still think it's a great project overall. Good job!

Developer

Thank you so much! I'm glad my music was able to add to the experience.

I love the overal design of this game. I love the feel of the environment and the concepts of each boss is really cool, even to the tiny details like the quit button being called "Sleep". I also love that intro of the second boss a lot. I think the strongest point of this game is the music, they convey the intensity of the environment and boss fights really well. The art are also amazing as well.

I do have a few criticism though. I think the sound effects are lacking, it doesn't complement the impact of attacks or feel of the environment very well, I also think this game would benefit from a few ambience noises. While I do  think the concept of each bosses are very well done, the telegraphing part of each attacks and range of attacks could be adjusted a little bit more, for example, the dancer spinning move could have a much shorter range of attack so that it would be easier to dodge.

Amazing game, keep it up!

Hi! I'm glad that my music complemented your experience playing this game. I had a ton of fun writing the music for it and I'm very happy that it seems to mesh with the rest of the game so well.

Conversely, I apologize for my sound effects LMAO. This is the first project I've done sound effects for. If we ever expand this project (not out of the question!) then we will get someone on to specifically help with the sound effects. Thanks for your review!

The music is dope!

I like the boss design and its balance, but healthbar is needed. I knows probably cuphead is a reference, but cuphead shows the boss HP when we die in a summary popup, and through the stages.

Also I dont like the our character art design. This is not a character that I would like to play.

Over all good job. I think its the highest rated game by my for now.

Developer

Hi! Thank you for your review. I'm glad you enjoyed my music!

We actually debated a lot about the health bar but decided to approach it similarly to how Hollow Knight approaches bosses. They do not use health bars but visual indicators that the boss's health is being depleted.

As for the main character's design, she is a discarded ballerina automaton, as the description points out. She is going to be quite rough around the edges and not very easy on the eyes. If she was easier to look at then it would discard the point of the game. This design choice was intentional.

I'm glad you enjoyed the game! Thank you for your comment.

You've got some amazing music and visuals, but the execution could use some fine-tuning.

Not having a health bar for the bosses is the biggest issue, I like knowing how much damage I'm doing.

This project has potential, and I'd love to see it realized.

Developer

I'm glad you liked my music! It was a blast writing for this game.

We discussed the health bar but ultimately decided to approach it like Hollow Knight, which uses purely visual indicators to show your progress in the boss.

Thanks for the comment and rating!

I can see where you're coming from, it's just the second boss was so aggressive and it was hard to get damage in, so it felt like I was throwing hands with a brick wall. The attack system was also kind of confusing. Was there any point for hitting those rhythm icons? Do your attacks deal more damage?

The art is good, the atmosphere was very well achieved visually, however it does lack some feedback for the player (juice). Anyway, it is an enjoyable game. Well done:)

Developer(+1)

Artist here ! Thank you so much for playing, glad you enjoyed it ! I will make sure that some dopamine juice will be added if this project ever gets expanded, Thanks for the Feedback !

You have incredible potential as an artist, put effort into your life and good luck on your path as a developer.

Cool game, I loved the music and art. Our game has a ballerina as character too! it's nice to play a different approach coming from a similar concept

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the comment! I'm glad my music enhanced your experience. I'll have to check out your game - I'm surprised about the lack of entries that include dancing! I've only seen three including Iron Rose.

Submitted(+2)

Very pretty entry. I found the controls a little tricky and ended up not using dash very often. I am curious, when attacking, what is the advantage of the medallion thing instead of just mashing the attack button? Maybe that could be clarified in the game page?
