Game's Take on the Theme
Spinning has always been an important part of classical dance. We created the game around this idea, from the designs to the moves... Moreover the bonus/malus and healing system uses wheels of luck.

Did your team make the majority of the art and music during the jam?
All of the art is made by the team (except the fonts).

If not, please link to any asset packs or resources used here.

I love the overal design of this game. I love the feel of the environment and the concepts of each boss is really cool, even to the tiny details like the quit button being called "Sleep". I also love that intro of the second boss a lot. I think the strongest point of this game is the music, they convey the intensity of the environment and boss fights really well. The art are also amazing as well.

I do have a few criticism though. I think the sound effects are lacking, it doesn't complement the impact of attacks or feel of the environment very well, I also think this game would benefit from a few ambience noises. While I do  think the concept of each bosses are very well done, the telegraphing part of each attacks and range of attacks could be adjusted a little bit more, for example, the dancer spinning move could have a much shorter range of attack so that it would be easier to dodge.

Amazing game, keep it up!

Hi! I'm glad that my music complemented your experience playing this game. I had a ton of fun writing the music for it and I'm very happy that it seems to mesh with the rest of the game so well.

Conversely, I apologize for my sound effects LMAO. This is the first project I've done sound effects for. If we ever expand this project (not out of the question!) then we will get someone on to specifically help with the sound effects. Thanks for your review!

The music is dope!

I like the boss design and its balance, but healthbar is needed. I knows probably cuphead is a reference, but cuphead shows the boss HP when we die in a summary popup, and through the stages.

Also I dont like the our character art design. This is not a character that I would like to play.

Over all good job. I think its the highest rated game by my for now.

Developer

Hi! Thank you for your review. I'm glad you enjoyed my music!

We actually debated a lot about the health bar but decided to approach it similarly to how Hollow Knight approaches bosses. They do not use health bars but visual indicators that the boss's health is being depleted.

As for the main character's design, she is a discarded ballerina automaton, as the description points out. She is going to be quite rough around the edges and not very easy on the eyes. If she was easier to look at then it would discard the point of the game. This design choice was intentional.

I'm glad you enjoyed the game! Thank you for your comment.

You've got some amazing music and visuals, but the execution could use some fine-tuning.

Not having a health bar for the bosses is the biggest issue, I like knowing how much damage I'm doing.

This project has potential, and I'd love to see it realized.

Developer

I'm glad you liked my music! It was a blast writing for this game.

We discussed the health bar but ultimately decided to approach it like Hollow Knight, which uses purely visual indicators to show your progress in the boss.

Thanks for the comment and rating!

I can see where you're coming from, it's just the second boss was so aggressive and it was hard to get damage in, so it felt like I was throwing hands with a brick wall. The attack system was also kind of confusing. Was there any point for hitting those rhythm icons? Do your attacks deal more damage?

The art is good, the atmosphere was very well achieved visually, however it does lack some feedback for the player (juice). Anyway, it is an enjoyable game. Well done:)

Developer(+1)

Artist here ! Thank you so much for playing, glad you enjoyed it ! I will make sure that some dopamine juice will be added if this project ever gets expanded, Thanks for the Feedback !

You have incredible potential as an artist, put effort into your life and good luck on your path as a developer.

Cool game, I loved the music and art. Our game has a ballerina as character too! it's nice to play a different approach coming from a similar concept

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the comment! I'm glad my music enhanced your experience. I'll have to check out your game - I'm surprised about the lack of entries that include dancing! I've only seen three including Iron Rose.

Submitted(+2)

Very pretty entry. I found the controls a little tricky and ended up not using dash very often. I am curious, when attacking, what is the advantage of the medallion thing instead of just mashing the attack button? Maybe that could be clarified in the game page?

Cool ambience sound and graphics.

Presentation is top notch! Reminds me of something like Machinarium, this solemn, rusted out vibe. Great music and graphics. Gameplay is definitely functional, but still missing a little spice somewhere, I think. The health and lives system could also use a rework; since there's little penalty for healing, in practice it's really like you have a random max health, lol. You could keep healing indefinitely and be ok, or run out of juice in three heals. And I admit running out of lives on the third boss and being booted back to the beginning turned me off trying again (especially since boss 2 took quite a while to go down), but I'd totally be down to try an updated version of this, if you guys go for it.

Developer(+1)

Thank you for your thought out review! I'm really glad that my music was able to enhance your experience :) maybe this game will see an expansion in the future!

Art style is great, but there is a lack of animations, character is too slow and hit on enemy has no impact.

Submitted(+1)

This game has a lot of potential to be way more fun, I feel like there is no impact on spinning, like audio-visual feedback on landing every tick of hit. Cool ambience and universe you got going on, would love to see where you take this.

Developer(+1)

Hey! Composer and sound designer here. This is actually the first project I've ever actually made sounds for, so they're definitely a bit off. If we expand this project (and I would love that tbh), we would probably get an experienced sound designer to help us out.

Submitted(+1)

Looking forward to it!!

The visual design and music were a master piece! Really good work, I could stay listening to the soudtrack the whole day. I know its on youtube but please add it to spotify hahahah

Developer(+1)

Hi! I'm the composer. Thank you so much, I'm really glad you enjoyed it! I can absolutely look into adding it onto Spotify, it's gonna be a bit of a process since I've never done that before but I will certainly look into it! This game's profile will be updated if that happens :) Thanks for your review!

Cool game. I liked the visual style. The beginning of the game reminded me of City of Tears from Hollow Knight. I liked the mechanics of attack and health restoration. The first boss is good, the attacks are easy to read. But he disappeared for me two times in a row in the second phase of the battle. I played the web version.

Developer(+1)

Hi! Glad you liked our game!
The boss disappearing is one of the physics issues of the web version on lower/middle end computers. If you want to avoid that the windows version is available.

Awesome music and visuals!! The animations are really cute. This reminds me of good old forgotten cartoons. I wish I could stay a little longer, but the boss beats me every time :) A little unclear why I should match the coins with the circle, but really nice use of the theme.  Sad that some of important SFX are missing (but I can help you with that if you decide to develop this awesome creation further).

Developer(+1)

thanks for playing, glad you had fun bosses kicked my ass too when developing lol

Hey! I'm the composer and sound designer. I'm glad you liked my music and the game! I agree with you that the sound effects are a little off-centered, this is my first time doing sound effects for something like this. If we expand this project further (and I hope we can!) we would definitely need someone to help out with the sound effects. If we come to that decision and if you're still offering, I'm sure they'd be open to discussing that possibility! Thanks for the feedback!

(+1)

Hey! You nailed the music, it really brings the game to life. For your first time with SFX, it’s solid! Sure, if you expand the project and need help with sound design or mastering, feel free to hit me up. You can check out my work on my website! Would love to see where this goes :)

This is a very well made game! The music is outstanding and I really like the combo system. The combo system makes me use my brain a lot more when juggling other mechanics like dodging and healing. Very well made!

Developer

thanks for playing, glad you liked our games combat, hope you have a nice day

Developer

Thank you so much! I'm so glad you enjoyed my music :)

Really love the art style and the music. All the animations are really fluid and well telegraphed which is important for a game like this. The bosses each felt like a nice gradual step up in difficulty.

I think the last boss had a few animation quirks like the hands snapping into place quite suddenly. I also initially expected the game to have I-frames but it not having them was something it quickly got used to and it actually made it more of a fun game of getting distance rather than perfectly dodging attacks.

I liked the spinning around mechanic a lot as keeping the spin going in the middle of combat was a nice thing to have to manage while also dodging. There's also a good amount of feedback from doing damage / taking damage. it feels satisfying to spin into a boss and do loads of damage.

Very fun game! Would love to see it maybe developed into a bigger game down the line!

Developer

Glad you liked our game! Thanks for this in-depth feedback!

Great Art. I had a lot of fun playing the game. The music was really fitting for each boss, and the mechanics were well implemented. I had a lot of fun.

Developer

Hello ! Artist here, thanks for playing !

Good art and music. The gameplay could be better as you don't have responsive control of the character or a better way to prevent the attacks of enemies.

Developer

thanks for playing, yeah i get you the gameplay is rough we spent our time in art, music and story too much lol

Thanks for the feedback! I'm glad you enjoyed my music :)

Nice art. The music fit the bosses well. maybe farther attack range for the player will be great. Good job!

Hi! Your game is absolutely amazing! The art style and visuals are incredibly unique and beautiful. The opening sequence is super immersive - the combination of background music and ambiance really pulls you into the atmosphere.

I love how straightforward the controls are, which makes the game so enjoyable to play. The tutorial section is particularly well done (something we missed in our own game - learned a valuable lesson there!).

Your team paid incredible attention to every detail - from the engaging gameplay and boss design to the cohesive theme and music.

Strongly recommend everyone to download and play this game! Beautiful!

beautiful game with lovely music, but the gameplay is a bit rough around the edges.

Hi! Dev of the game here. Glad you enjoyed our game! I agree with you that the gameplay is a bit rough, we basically made 90% of the game on the last 2 weeks of the jam. Which didn't give us a lot of time to playtest and add more features to it.
