Game's Take on the Theme
The theme this year was "Spin" So we decided to make our game and bosses construction-themed with the tools being bosses that would spin on a construction site.

Did your team make the majority of the art and music during the jam?
Yes

The graphics are simple but very efective and fitting, the fights feel cool and fun, also the boss designs is awesome and the mechanics are solid. I rate graphics, control, fun and music the most, but all is great really, I hope you expand further after jam, also, if you have some time, please, rate my game too, thanks!!!

Developer

Thank you so much!!! We had lots of fun making everything and trying to be unique with our approach. I never follow any standards when making music lol. We just wanted to show that we love art and video games, we made a project as well as we could and hope everyone enjoys it!

Great Game bro! I love the fight!

Developer

Thank you so much! I'm glad you enjoyed it :D

Really great game! While the art's simple it still fits so well with the music (which is great btw :) )! quite challenging though due to controls.

(PS: If you're willing to I'd love it if you can rate and leave some feedback on my game! This is my first ever jam and I'd love to see where I can improve for the future!)

Developer(+1)

Thank you, I'm glad someone appricates the art (We've been mainly complimented on our music as of recently). We also are going to change how movement works in our upcoming projects.

(PPS: We play all the games of the people who leave comments on our game so lucky you!)

The game may have a simple visual style, but it looks good and pleasant, and the music fits perfectly! The controls aren't the easiest or most intuitive, but they are manageable with some practice. From a game design perspective, it feels balanced and polished, which is great to see! Excellent work!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much! We are going to make the next game have not only rebindable controls, but better feeling character movement!

Cool game! I found it pretty challenging, but the controls felt really nice - dash in particular was really nice tuned I think. Soundtrack was great and a really original sound, and the art was simple but really effective for the job. Nice range of boss behaviours and designs too. Great work.

Developer(+1)

I'm sure my buddy who made all the music and sounds would love to hear that. Thank you for playing (and enjoying) Revolvum! You're also right, the game is not as easy as it lets on.

Submitted(+2)

The soundtrack is really nice and the use of the theme is really creative! I thought that the dash had temporary immunity and kept getting hit while doing it haha

Developer(+2)

Thank you for playing, I agree our music department really put the icing on the cake here for Revolvum.

I’m struggling on the game but it’s clearly a skill problem between my chair and my keyboard, fighting enemies in the crafting theme is a lot of fun!

Developer(+2)

Thank you, we decided to go with a construction theme for all the tools in the trade that have to rotate, or spin in order to opperate. I will admit as a part of the dev team it was a challanging play!

I really enjoyed the music and sound for this one quite a bit. I too would have liked some visual feedback on my sprite for damage, but the UI was clear enough that I could at least check how I was doing at any given moment. The bosses were a lot of fun theme-wise, but I would have like to see some sort of transition information for attack changes. I really liked the trailing screw encounter, but would have appreciated a little bit of drag on him to make retaliating more accessible.

Ultimately, a lot of fun, and the gameplay was compelling enough that I went through all of the bosses!

Developer

Thank you so much for playing our game! And these are all things we could implement after the Game Jam ends for polish! :D

Main problem is that you don't feel when you've been hit, would be good if character have got some impact. And make fire rate faster. And controls are not convenient, it would be better use mouse to choose the direction. Boss is has too much hp. Also character could be more faster to give player more control in playing.
I know some people take criticism personal, but i do not try to smear dirt your work, i just give some advices if you want to continue your work in gamedev.

Developer(+1)

We will take notes! Thank you for your feedback!

Submitted(+2)

Good stuff, nothing too complicated, I'm not very good at dodging so I had trouble but I had no major issues with it. One nitpick tho, maybe give the player a little more health. Good entry otherwise. Nice job!

Developer(+2)

Thank you for your feedback!

Submitted(+3)

Nice job, the game is fun! I wish the fire rate was a bit faster and in the final boss if I tried to go to the center before he did the first attack, I already took some damage from something invisible.

Developer(+2)

Thank you! We had some lingering hitboxes problems that we thought we fixed, but thank you for your feedback!

The game has a very strong theme with the construction vibe, which gives it a really strong identity. It feels really retro in how rigidly it controls, and whether this is intentional or not, there's a fun mechanic here where the closer you are when you  attack the boss, the faster your next shot will reload. The way it seems to work is that you only get your next shot once your  previous one leaves the screen, so if you  stick to the boss and just mash shots you'll fire them out like crazy. Which I found to actually be a really fun way to play the game whether it be an exploit or an intended mechanic

Developer(+1)

The closer you are the quicker you hit and shoot is an intentional mechanic! Thank you for your feedback!

Submitted(+3)

Very fun and creative game! I think the construction theme fits the theme well. Good tutorial, got used to the control easily!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much!

Submitted(+3)

as someone who works in construction i love the art and aesthetic of the game! very fun and creative with some challenging gameplay as well! great job!

Developer(+1)

Thank you very much!

Submitted(+3)

That was quite fun, and well worth the download, although it was quite difficult, I have to say.

Developer(+1)

We know that there was a balancing issue nearing the end of development, we are going to improve our play testing for games like this. Thank you so much for playing!

cool

:D

This was fun to play! I also agree with the other comments that the first boss was the most difficult, but it was still enjoyable! Rip Jaw was the most fun to fight. The dash could use a shorter cooldown I feel. Well done!

Developer(+2)

Yeah, I think the dash should be quicker to use and definitely have more invincibility frames. Thank you so much for playing though!

Submitted(+3)

Sick thumbnail and cool game! As the other comments had said, I think first boss is difficult. Something about the disk, saw? flying around randomly is really difficult to dodge. I also think you had very cool concept and everything from boss design to environment design compliment it very well. Great job!

Developer(+2)

The washers are random, and it is a balancing issue that won't happen again in our games lol. Thank you so much for playing!

Submitted(+3)

Very unique art style. I had fun defeating all 3 bosses!

The difficulty level was just right. Once you figure out the attack patterns, the bosses become easy pickings. The third boss could use a bit more warning before it drops down though. Fun entry!

Developer(+1)

Thank you very much!
