I found the Easter egg!! The game was great, and I was so surprised when the phone said I wasn’t so talkative after it told me to respond and I didn’t. It’s really cool that you could interact with the phone like that. My only major issue was that the game became super laggy, even though I have a good PC, which stopped me from finishing it. The atmosphere and sounds were great, but it became unplayable after some time in the forest. Other than that, it was really well made for just 7 days, so congrats!

Great, sorry about performance i did a bunch of optimisation in the lead up to the jam and uploaded the version with 30 secs to spare.

Im very sorry about the lag it was due to the trees and how godot handels mesh instances (I think it might get patched in the next update)

I should have made the shed more obvious aswell but im glad you tried it !

Thanks

I'm definitely a big fan of lighthouses, but I also hate horror/thriller games, because even a reactionary atmosphere is enough to scare me. BUT I love games like lethal company, it's so much fun to walk around in excitement. The sounds were definitely very good, I thought it was a bit laggy because I was on a laptop, but I saw in the comments that a few other people had the same problem. Still, these are very small details for a 1-week game jam project. You did a very nice job, congratulations ☻♥

Developer

I wasnt trying to lean into the horror thriller style.

I was going for a mix of lethal company and firewatch dialog.

Sorry about the lag, thanks for the feedback!

A really interesting game for sure, I think with some work this could easily evolve into the Phasmaphobia/SCP/Lethal Company genre. Very on theme, and a great use of audio for the purposes of anxiety. Bonus points for green teletubby Mothman

Developer

Thank you so much .

Haha originally he hard dark scally skin but you couldnt see him ingame if you didnt see the eyes, so i had to make him lighter.

Glad you liked it though!

The game looks interesting, I could still playing it, but my laptop is not able to resist, but is stills a great job.

Developer

Im very sorry about that. Thats my fault

Submitted(+1)

No worries,   this is part of the process, you are learning, keep going with it.

Great voice, story and overall atmosphere!
It seems rain makes my laptop burn to the ground :)
But that was great! Hope I'll have some feedback from you too!

Developer (1 edit)

Haha thanks , sorry about the performance.

omw to play your game right now

The ambience of the game was really cool and creepy, well done!!! That guy jumpscare oh my god, you really nailed it!!

Feedback: The game was a bit laggy and I don't have a bad PC at all, maybe it's something related with optimization. Also at first I was very lost and struggled a lot to find the house, you could give some indications in the UI for example (at least at the first part of the game).

Good job :)

Developer

Im sorry about the lag, I tried to optimise as much as possible without sacrificing the ambience but it was just so hard also considering that godot isnt the best at large instances of objects. Lots of people get lost and I reduced the trees and made the trees close to it really thin, but i had run out of playtesters who didnt know where it was :(.

Thanks for the feedback though.

such a nice game with beautiful graphics!
the atmosphere was so good that made you feel like you are actually in the game which i loved the most.
there were some bugs though but im not sure if it was because of my potato graphics card or not haha...
i really enjoyed it and all of my rates are either 5 or 4 stars because of that!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much , sorry about the graphics il rate yours now!

great voice over and graphics but the game was lagging a lot for me.

Developer

yeah sorry about that

Fun game! I liked the voice acting and the monster actually made me jump the first time, The steps felt kind of off going up them would be my only real critique, like choppy almost but other than that GREAT JOB!

Developer

haha thanks, the steps were a minor issue so i didnt fix them.

Amazing atmosphere, solid voice acting, and just the right amount of spook. Great job!

Developer

Thanks!

This was a fantastic atmospheric experience! The voice acting really added depth, and the eerie environment had me on edge the whole time. I did encounter some performance issues, particularly low FPS on my system, but I understand optimization can be tricky, especially in Godot for a game jam. It would be helpful to have a few more navigation aids, like clearer paths or markers, especially in such a dark setting. Overall, you nailed the mood and immersion, and I’d love to see what you could do with more development time! Great work!

also can you review our game? Thanks in advance!

Developer

Hey, thanks sorry about the low fps and the navigation i did put somethings in last minute to counter it but obviously it didnt work aswell as  i thought.

I will definitely play your game considering that im not 100% sure on how to play solitare so a reminder would be helpfull.

Amazing game, well done! This made a horrible chill go down my spine...

Developer

haha thanks , especially from a talented dev such as yourself. I love your games!

Props for the voice acting! I enjoyed it though it was quite short but the story is intriguing. It was a bit scary but also a bit frustrating as the trap placing mechanic didn't make much sense to me? I just ran while charging it, placed it down and made it on my second try.

You nailed the atmosphere though!

Developer

Yes i tried to keep it short as it is a game jam game and id rather have people finish my game and it be short then not finish it and not experience the entire game yk?

Originally the player was locked in place by when they were placing it, but the playtesters got annoyed that the had no time to set the trap and they wanted to set it while running and also so they could get the placement right.

Thank you so much for playing my game and for the feedback

Submitted

You really nailed down the scary atmosphere!

Developer

haha thanks

Really nice job on the atmosphere, feels really spooky. I had some similar issues as other people with the performance, i don't have the best PC so it could be a factor too. But overall great job!

Developer

Thanks ; sorry about the performance thats mb.

Submitted (1 edit)

Game had incredible atmosphere. Congrats on that. And voice acting was also good.

But it run something like 5 FPS on my notebook (and I have quite good notebook graphics-wise that is just 2 years old). I get that it's game jam game so no time to really optimize anything, but there should be at least some setting to, I don't know, disable grass, or trees. Just way to lower graphics to bearable amount.

Developer(+1)

I am so sorry about the performance, i tried so many things to optimize it and you are right it being a game jam game is no reason to have it run like this but godot isnt the best and neither am a settings menu is a great idea.

i am still happy you gave the game a chance though tysm.
