The pixel art is stunning and the idea is very cool but the keybiding of the controls is killing me. From what i understand reading others, this should probably be played on controler so i might give it another try later with one ! Still the concept is dope !

Developer

Sorry you had trouble with the controls. There were 3 different schemes, WASD + JKL, Arrow Keys + ZXC, and controller. Glad you enjoyed anyways.

Submitted

great concept. Really frustrate to play. You constantly have to stop time and change block making it really really slow to get anywhere. When you die you have to do it all over again slowly. I think you should try out celeste to see how they handle this kind of game. Fast and fluid movement this the key.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback. All but one of the levels can be completed really quickly, and any challenge can be easily mitigated by figuring out the intended solution. Things can definitely be done in multiple ways, some easy, some very hard.

Nice job! The build mechanic was very clever and I had a blast getting through the levels(literally in the levels that have explosive jumping)

The game was pretty solid, though I think some levels could have used checkpoints. I ended up skipping a few when I died close to the end😅

Developer(+1)

Yeah, we agree. Checkpoints were something we didn't think we needed until it was too late to add them! Glad you had fun though!

This game was absolutely astonishing! The art style is beautiful and fitting, the game’s main mechanic is really well thought and it works great. The music is nice and it’s also a surprisingly long game for a jam. You even included an introduction and everything! It’s an amazing job what you guys did with this game. Congrats!

Probably the only thing that was a bit annoying was that the button you used to open the build mode wasn’t the same one you used to close it. I intuitively tried to do that every single time I was in that mode. I also struggled to find the jump button at first, as I (again, intuitively) tried with the space bar first, and ultimately found out you could use the J by pressing the buttons in my keyboard one by one. Moreover, the enter button didn’t allow me to continue with the game after the intro, and I could only find out about the skipping feature after reading the comments, which isn’t ideal. Lastly, when you are in front of a sign, you can still enter build mode, which can be confusing if you did it accidentally and the sign is covering the character. You can’t move and it’s not easy to pinpoint why.

All in all though, those things about the controls are just a tiny thing compared to how awesome the game is. But I thought you might appreciate the feedback! Keep up the good work!

The controls were one of the hardest things to get right, and we tried our best to explain them. Glad you enjoyed!

A very, very great entry. I had a lot of fun and would love to play an entire full scale game made with most of these ideas.

This game is one of the most well thought-out and executed games I've played in any game jam. The art and music are both beautiful, and the mechanic employed was delightful and easy to use. The game's challenges were challenging, but always satisfying to figure out. My only complaints are that some parts of the levels - specifically a large portion of the level that introduces the longer, pivoting block - require a lot of high-precision movements that could be deemed as tedious. Additionally, dying in this game can be especially painful after a lot of progress in a level, so I would've loved to see checkpoints or a similar system. Other than that, however, this game was outstanding on all fronts.

Developer

I agree. I know exactly which level you mean, after all, I made it. I was perhaps too ridiculous with my slow slow level :) Glad you enjoyed anyways.

I like building this way  to get through platformers a cool thing I've never seen before!

Developer(+1)

We are pretty happy about the game mechanic we designed too haha

Submitted

The game is very fun and I really enjoyed the concept! Some of the puzzles took a while for me to figure out but once I did it was quite satisfying. I also can't say I didn't like the fact that you used Godot instead of Unity ;D

Developer

Thanks! Glad you enjoyed.

A very fun idea! Climbing with this weird shape-shifting technique is quite fun. The resets after death are a bit cruel for my liking

Developer(+1)

We tried to make short levels, but we probably should have had checkpoints. Time ran out... very quickly!

Thank you for rating our game! Another team with Godot - represent!

I loved the ambiance at the start of your game; really set the mood.

I did struggle a bit with the controls at first. Using WASD to move and then "Z" and "X" to interact wasn't very intuitive on a QWERTY keyboard, but once I figured it out, it started to flow better.

I would have appreciated more checkpoints, especially since I'm not the most proficient at puzzles. That said, I did feel pretty cool when I eventually solved some of them.

Overall, it's a cute game with solid gameplay. Great work!

Developer

Sorry you had troubles with controls! There were several layouts to choose from! Actually you weren't supposed to use z and x when using WASD -- we also had J and K do the same things but for that control scheme. Glad you enjoyed!

Submitted

Loool. J and K are actually pretty intuitive, That's my bad actually.

Submitted

Cool game idea, but I think jump should always be used with Spacebar. Other than that, this game looks amazing.

Developer

Thanks. Honestly, the game felt way better on controller anyways :) Obviously we didn't have time to add control rebinding haha

Submitted

This game's amazing! I don't really have much to say because it's pretty much perfect in every aspect, except...

There are way too many levels, which would be fine if this wasn't a gamejam so I didn't actually beat it all the way to the end, but got as far as I could, other than that, I really love this! It could easily be released on Steam as is.

Developer(+2)

Thank you very much! We were originally planning on having twice as many levels but we ended up with 12 haha

Submitted

Absolutely fantastic game with a really enjoyable and fun, yet also challenging gimmick that made for a lot of good puzzles and quick thinking. Would really love to see an expansion upon this, whether that being more levels or a generally even bigger game!

Developer (1 edit)

Me and my team really like the idea too. We had lots more ideas, but we limited scope creep as best we could! Thank you!

Submitted

This game is amazing all around!  The puzzles are fun, and I love how intuitive it feels to play with being able to change the cube in mid air!

Developer

Thank you for the complements!

Love this, from style to game play to music, all top notch. Also I'm jealous of how clean it looks, I can never get my pixel perfect looks as seamless as you guys have it here.

Developer

Thanks. Godot makes it pretty easy for nice looking pixel perfect! You can choose the resolution you render at, it's great.

Submitted

This is super polished. Incredibly impressive for a 4 day game! I wish there were checkpoints in the levels though. I remember seeing some of this game on the GMTK server and I'm glad it turned out so well.

Developer (1 edit)

Thanks so much! We definitely should've chosen between either shorter levels or checkpoints lol.

Submitted (1 edit)

I really like the tile set! the color contrast made the whole climb feel more intense! Excellent mechanic too. I was surprised by how many ways you put a spin on it, my favorite was freezing mid-air to jump between two walls! Some of the longer levels could do with a checkpoint part-way (mostly just the ones with the rotating blocks; they're uber neat, just a little slow). The TNT blocks, while having amazing visual/sound effects and showing off the physics nicely, feel a bit like like their from a more fast paced game (i had to flip flop between my puzzle genius brain and my platforming expert brain a couple times). Great level design, and the chill retro tunes tie it all together! :o)

Developer

Thank you very much! I know what level you're talking about too haha.

Submitted

The style and gameplay is nice! Little slime is cute haha

Developer

Thanks! Glad you liked it.
