Pretty fire game, some juice and particles would really make it pop you know?
Great game that is quite challenging! As some already suggested, autofire would be a convenient addition! But nevertheless, good work! :)
I am extremely bad but it was really fun! And it's a solid base idea that could probably be expanded on pretty well
Fun game, but wish there was an autofire
Fun game!
I really like this! Like my own game, weapon variety would have brought it up a notch but the new enemies kept this one fresh by introducing more challenges.
The art looks like a ZX spectrum game - very well executed. Gameplay wise I wish there was a bit more variety to the bullets, and there was a persistent issue where if I move my mouse outside of the game's screen, I wouldn't be able to shoot, so I'd really like to have a "shoot with a keyboard" button.
Fun idea with good execution. For w/e reason the shooting would lock up somewhat randomly. I wasn't able to get far due to that. I'm not sure why there's crazy loud menu music and then no music in game lol. I guess that was typical of the space shooters that this was inspired by. As some others have said, it would be good to have more feedback when hitting the enemies as there isn't much indication of how close they are to inflating.
Sweet idea. I see in your description that you said you thought an autofire was required; I couldn't agree more. I just put an autoclicker on and played a couple rounds and it was far more enjoyable. I think in the future adding more weapons / ships etc could be really fun ! I liked the idea of inflating and then popping the enemies.
Awesome art!
Love the take on the theme. Inflating the enemies to destroy them is such a cool idea. Great work!
Nice mechanics! felt pretty tight. Great incentive to play risky
I think the idea for this is really good! Simple yet effective.
I would have liked the controls to not lock me in the four cardinal directions, it felt quite limiting and frustrating.
I also think perhaps making the enemies gradually scale in size as you shoot them would work a lot better as well; it was quite difficult to tell what was going on at first. A solid first attempt nonetheless!
I like the mechanic. although I would like if enemies flashed when you hit them.
Loved it !
Loved the idea, it was fun to play, but the shooting mechanic was a bit unfair as it changes in a way that requires the player to keep focus on where the mouse is relative to the ship and that makes it a bit weird for me, would be better if it aimed at the mouse or maybe the mouse position relative the screen.
Great game! Also art was fantastic!
Loved the concept. Nice art and sound design. Maybe a lack of a little background music but anyway good work !
I love this style, the music and sound effects also fit really well. The inflation of the enemies is a cool mechanic, especially with the small screen size. It makes for some tactical decisions: shoot all enemies and get stuck with 3 massive enemies or focus on one at a time. Nice!
The shooting mechanic unfortunately lets it down for me. It feels very unresponsive. It's as if there is a specific cone in the 4 directions in which the mouse clicks get registered, but not outside of it. I have no idea if that's the logic behind it.
I think it would be better if it was only keyboard controlled. For instance, WASD to move and arrow keys to shoot.
100% on the last thing you said. I think that would have been a lot better. I only thought about that after the jam ended when I remembered a game I played called “Shoot Trip Die”, which controls just like that.
WOW, good job!
This game is enjoying! Simple mechanics yet effective Gives nostalgia! Good game-loop and it fits the theme somewhat by scaling units.
Here's some critique:
The shooting mechanic is unsatisfying, it scales based on how fast you can click your mouse (which I realize while writig fits the theme perfectly lol). BUT to me it's a very annoying mechanic and also unfair to players.
I think the controls would be better if you faced the same direction as where your mouse is, instead of facing either of the 4 sides.
Besides that a well made game!
Amazing twist on a classic. Top marks!
