Description
My fictional game would be titled Two Worlds, it is a 2D platformer/metroidvania that challenges your way of navigating the world where the boundaries of reality are constantly shifting.
You incarnate a Fox (Dark in Light world and White in Dark World) in search of his true path. As he delves deeper into the dual worlds, he must confront his own fears and insecurities, growing stronger with every challenge he overcomes.
Main mechanic: Seamlessly switch between two parallel worlds at any time, navigating through intricate levels with a unique timer and cooldown system. Each world offers distinct challenges and opportunities, requiring strategic thinking and precise timing.
It will be a necessity to switch between worlds or else no progress will be made. For exemple Dark world offers different powers/abilities and level design will morph with it.
Interactive Soundtrack: Dynamic musical experience that evolves as you play. The soundtrack transitions from light to dark seemlessly at any time in the musical soundtrack.
Each track has a "softer" side and transition into a distorted/glitchy and sometimes ominous vibe to the Dark side. So I created all the music keeping in mind that they can switch at any time from one mood to the other.
Track no 1 - Two Worlds
This track is the introduction level to the game as everything is unstable and we can hear some distortion in both light and dark side of the soundtrack but more since it is the introduction of the main mechanic of switching to dark side we stay longer in the dark side.
Of course in game it will work but for the sake of the Jam I did compose some custom transitions to make it work even better. A looping can be made from 0:14 to 0:43 when the main theme starts and transforms with the transition into dark. There whole track can loop from start to finish to but it is not the intention as in the game we want to switch at any point
Track no 2- In Between
We are used to the mechanic and are able to switch from Light to Dark easily, this track is way more dynamic and uplifting . At the end of the track we can still hear that we are not fully in control with the glitchy/distorted effect putting us back.
Track no 3 - Amidst
We are in perfect control of our abilities, the soundtrack can switch perfectly from Light to dark at any time, good for speedrun strat, using with almost no cooldown between the world switch we can navigate the levels with more ease. Loops from 0:12 to 1:12 (Light) perfectly with 4 bars intro and from 1:12 to 2:12 (Dark) which can be crossfaded at anytime using a transition mechanic.
I used Nuendo 11 for mainly all of the MIDI and musicale aspect of the composition and Reaper for the Sound Design.
Message from the artist
I had a blast doing this interactive soundtrack, wish I could've done more. Hope you enjoy listening as much as I did composing :)
Theme
How does it fit the theme?
Inside my world : My game features a unique mechanic that constantly switches between two sides of the same world: one good and one bad. As you journey through this world, you'll need to navigate both light and dark realms to reach the end. This duality represents my personal vision of the world.

WOAH i think this is so incredibly creative, loving your take on "inside my world" and how you weaved it into your compositions. the arrangements are stellar too, constant new ideas to keep the interest going!!
Thank you, glad you liked how I created the concept of the game, very much appreciated :)
I like the mood you set with these tracks, the first one reminds me a bit of Stranger Things. Your sound is pretty unique and I like your percussion sounds a lot. Track two has a groovy bass line, and I feel like your mixing/volume levels are well done too. Good job!
Thank you, yes I can see the relation with Stranger Things, especially for the sounds textures and motif used with the bII and bIVI. Glad you enjoyed the mix too, that was a challenge in a week.
Intriguing buildup in all of your songs with a very thick and gloomy atmosphere. Great drive and cool sounddesigne. Really liked your submission.
Thank you very much :)
Great beats in the tracks, my favourite is Two Worlds bombastic bass and the sequences are beautiful
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it :)
This is an absolutely brilliant submission! I really love the extra thought you put into how the songs will work dynamically with the game mechanics, it makes me wish I had done something like that. Your mixing and sound design is unique and phenomenal throughout as well, fantastic job!
Thank you for the huge compliment, glad you enjoyed the dynamic system for the game and the production :)
Beautiful transitions of mood and how you've written the evolutions of the tracks. I think you've paid an incredible amount of attention to the timbral choices of each sound. I can perceive the uniqueness of each sound you used: they are all quite unconventional for a platform soundtrack, in my opinion, but it works incredibly well, truly excellent work! The electronic percussion in the second track is stunning (great sound design skills). Even though it moves rhythmically so much, it manages to maintain the right spaces and pauses thanks to the calm reverse pads. All these elements perfectly describe the concept of the two worlds you intended to convey in the story. Definitely one of the best productions I've heard these days (I don't think I have any points to criticize or advise you on because you clearly know what you're doing); certainly one of the best constructed in terms of sound design and timbral awareness. Exceptional work!!
Thank you very much for the detailed comment and taking the time to write all of this :) I did indeed took some time to craft most of the synths from scratch and sound design seperately.
I really like the darker vibes of this OST, probably my fave is Amidst! It also integrates well the idea of dark/light altho I was expecting more extreme changes. It's also very cool that you think of all the looping points and how the music will be implemented with the mechanics of the game. Overall a very solid OST!
Thank you glad you enjoyed it :) I did indeed thought about going a little harder on the changes but I still wanted to keep some correlation between the two worlds like a small bridge that still connects those so I kept some sound design the same in both.
impeccable production. This is very very good! Don't know what to say - it's just great. It's creative, very well composed, and the sound design and production is impeccable. I'm putting it in a bunch of my personal Soundcloud lists.
Thank you very much, super happy you enjoyed it, honnored to be in the personal playlist :)
Very good work! Great lush sounding tracks, these percussion is sooo tasty, beautiful dynamics. Overall strong submission!
Thank you very much :)
Man, what a vibe! Clean production from start to finish, and so unique in its texture and sound design. With a cool idea to boot!
Great job on this one. Definitely would okay this game.
Thank you, glad you enjoyed the production and details :)
Oh these are back to back BANGERS
Thank you for the compliment :)
Your submission really stands out amongst the rest - it's unique in its concept and musical arrangement and sound design, at least in this jam and from what I've heard so far. I'm digging the atmosphere, and could actually imagine the game quite well, nice story telling. Since you went out of the "water" vibe that most people seem to have gone for, it's the game idea that that brings the whole thing together and make it fit nicely with the theme - so congrats on the GD aspect of your creation as much as on the music and sound design
Thank you for this lovely comment adn takin the time to write all of this. Glad you enjoyed the concept and dynamics of the game I wanted to protray :)
Very good submission! I loved the vibe the second track gave me so much. It sounds like you are a spy in the year 3000 sneaking into the citadel or some shit. It's so stylish!
Thank you , glad you liked the vibe !
the instrument right at the start reminded me of the themed time rifts in a hat in time which was really neat!
The percussion was also on point!
Good Job!
Thank you, never listened or played A Hat in Time,i'm gonna go find out right now !
Super atmospheric, while having a ton of variety. Love how you carried the melody subtly across different instruments in 'Inbetween Two Worlds', so nice with the percussion. Awesome work!
Thank you very much :) Yes it is indeed the plan to contrast some of the same elements on all the tracks with different instrumentations.
Two Worlds: V-bII-i is such a cool movement. Love the atmosphere.
In Between: That bassline and bass sound is so cool. Love where the piano comes in.
Amidst: Great drums. This mix of synths paints a beautiful atmosphere.
Great work!
Nice glad you enjoyed the little bII passage in Two Worlds and overall production, thank you :)
This was super impressive, your approach to the synths allowed for some very seamless mood shifts, and epic peaks!!! The exciting rhythms you created, especially in In Between were super fun and added so much character to this entry, nice work!
Thank you, really glad you enjoyed it :)
Amazing stuff. The ability to transition so well between ambiance and more intense sections like in Amidst is something I admire a lot. (and like a lot of others pointed out, very reminiscent of risk of rain lol).
Love the percussion, especially in the second track. Weird comparison, but some of it reminded me a little of a marching band's drum section. Impressive ability to have a lot going on in the drums but still make it very chill.
Also so impressed with how the mix sounds. Does NOT sound like it was put together in a week!
Thank you for taking the time to write all of this and appreciating the mix in a week, that was indeed a big challenge, glad it worked out in the end :)
lovely sound design, i like that it achieves ambience yet is engaging nonetheless to listen to. i've heard some submissions that are just drones masquerading as game music, but this is the kind of ambient music i like to hear in games, especially if it's a metroidvania as you were going for.
Thank you very much, I tried to make it the light version more ambient but not too much to give the better constrast as I can do :) glad you enjoyed :)
The title track has major Stranger Things vibes. I love the energetic yet contemplative mood of "In Between."
Thank you, yes I can see the relation especially for the synth sounds textures and motif used with the bVI and bII.
