Very cool theming, with great characters designs and a cool world, I was surprised to see how many little details you managed to cram in. I also liked having four different weapons with very different uses, I tried to adapt to each of the bosses.
I think the boss battles themselves need a little bit more balancing, as you can face-tank the majority of their attacks, which also sucks out some of the fun of alternating between weapons (as you can stand in front of the boss and go swinging your melee until it dies).
Overall though, very nice entry!

Now I must say, the melee attack does absolutely insane damage lmao. I had a lot of fun with this one and really loved the artistic style with the colour palette and pixel art. I think having some extra SFX on hit, hit stops and slight screen shake can really improve the intensity of the game!
Haha yeah, before submission the bosses were to hard and we had little time to balance the game so we wanted people to finish the game. We totally had camera shake but i guess we forgot to put it in! haha! We do plan to continue production after jam voting!

Outstanding presentation all around, really stands out from the pack with the level of design and assets. There's a surprising amount of variety to the gameplay and I enjoyed each of the different weapons, finding myself using each of them at different points. The music matches the tone really well too. Awesome job!

It looks amazing, design for bosses and arenas are gorgeous, unfurtundly I found the combat a bit lacking, I could just face tank every boss and spam the melee attack until finish it, a shame cause the game is fantastic.
I think this is one of the most finished looking games I have seen in the jam! And it's exciting you made all your own music and sound, what a complete team! I really like the map layout, except the use of negative space made the floors a bit uncertain at times. The ranged weapons would feel better if they had an animation lock so that you don't fire weapons a way you didn't intend. Great work overall, and good luck in the competition!
Great art style, everything looks really polished and clean, spinning between attacks felt nice and my favourite was the flame thrower even though it burned through the mana (cog pieces, copper, not sure what its actually called) really quickly. I had a lot of fun playing this gj
Hey! This game is really cool! The art is really beautifull, it is really polished, but I found it too unbalanced for the player. The short melee desintagrates bosses and the most fun attack ( fire bean ) is taken away for some time. But still, better an easier game than a hard one that you can't see through the end. Really cool, really liked it, other than balancing, really cool entry!
The other comments have mentioned this, but the art is phenomenal! The animations are also very fluid. The cute, quick melee attack is so satisfying to see. The other attacks have too big of a delay to find any use, so I, too, fell back on spamming the quick melee attack with a little bit of occasional dodging. This is one of the most polished games I've played so far and looks like it could be made into a full commercial title. Congrats on a game so well made!
The art in this game is incredible! From the visuals to the music, everything fits together really well. I had some trouble figuring out how to dodge certain attacks, so I ended up relying on the good old strategy of tanking the damage and spamming melee attacks.

Such a good game - great visuals and animation! After dying three times, I finally beat all the bosses and finished the game.
After the first boss, the others felt much easier. The melee claws were the best way to attack them! Blaze fire felt long but not very effective. Overload and gears were useful, though.
The one-hand controls felt a bit weird at first, but I got used to them quickly. The music was super memorable (still stuck in my head!) but was a bit loud by default and had a lot of low mids for my taste, so I wished for more SFX impact. Loving that organ and harpsichord style synth - what did you use for them Holden?

I will admit, I need to work a little on my mixing, some of my songs can sound a bit muddy. It's probably a matter of phase shifting or EQ'ing the low mids so its not too boomy.
And I use a ton of Spitfire LABS for the synths and BBC Symphony Orchestra for the strings. Then a few more synths built into FL Studio.
I also had a ton more SFX developed for the game, but we only got to put like 20% of them in. Programming sound can be difficult for programmers, I'm now learning, and I need to learn to make banks in FMOD to make the programmer's jobs easier.
Very fun game! I Would say the melee slash is a bit too overpowered, but on my 2nd playthrough I only used the other attacks and was able to see more of the fights, which are quite engaging!

Cute looking game, I like music and detailed animations.
But on balance department there are some issues. No point to use anything, but fast slash attack because of its insane dps, like I killed bosses 2 and 4 without even getting what they were doing, because they died too fast. So definitely need to nerf it and add more love to other attacks.
Dialog-wise, I wouldn't mind to read the lore, but without option to immediately show the text it becomes a bit tiresome, cuz you need to wait for the text to be typed out.
We were planning on added a fast text option on lore but ran out of time, and also before our bosses were so hard we had to change last minute on playability haha, needed more time to balance, we will plan to nerf it just like you said.

Beautiful game with stunning visuals and a captivating lore. The art design is amazing, and the story really fits with the music. Great job! I'd say the bosses are easily defeated if you use the right attack, but that may be on purpose
