Everything about this game was amazing to play. It all feels like it could have been a real gameboy game. The only thing I found weird is that the enemies keep flashing and I thought my game was bugged because I couldn't climb ladders at the start.

Developer

Thanks for playing!

Did you play in browser?

the flashing looks more like semi transparency on hardware devices and some emulator. The frame rate is just off a little in the browser emulator.  Since you cannot do semi transparent on gameboy the quick flashing is a way to achieve it.

Good to know. I tried an emulator and it was a little better.

I finally got to playing your game and my high expectations were not disappointed. Amazing game that does everything right. Feels like a mix of Wario Land and Luigi's Mansion. The artstyle really looks as if it had been released on Game Boy back in the '90s by Nintendo themselves. Very polished, too. I wouldn't be surprised if you won the game jam 👍

It's a shame we're limited to 5 stars. The adorable graphics and stellar sound design are worthy of more than that. I really liked how you weren't an overpowered super hero. It was a fresh take feeling like a regular person armed with nothing but a flashlight. I also liked the metrovania feel of unlocking additional abilities in order to reach places you couldn't visit before. Excellent submission!

This game was really cool! I had a lot of fun playing it!

The main character looks about as anxious as I am on a day to day basis, so we bonded.

Really great little metroidvania. Took me a few goes to clock how to defeat the boss and I nearly stopped playing when I first saw the height of the jump but I'm glad I stuck around.

Wow! This is such an awesome little game. It's like a tiny complete metroidvania. I love it. The art and sfx are great and I loved the flashlight effect. Great job!

Great entry!! This reminded me a lot of the first Wario games and I love it!!

Loved the game, and the concept fits so well I wish I had thought of it! The character design is peak, and I loved the sprite for when you got an item, nice callback to the wario games! Feels like it was made in the 90s!

This is the most gameboy feeling entry I’ve played so far, if it wasn’t for me playing it on my PC monitor I’d have no idea it wasn’t made back in like 1992. Awesome job!

Really cute graphics. This was so much work for 10 days. Couldn't beat the boss, though. We need to give it another go on our Pocket. Very nice job!

Fantastic graphics, and having also made a GB Studio game, I'm genuinely impressed by how there's no lag!
Also quite like the open-ended nature of the mansion!

I won't say much... Luigi's Mansion on Gameboy executed perfectly! Well done!

Seriously cool game! Graphics, music, gameplay all great! The level design was especially cryptic and a good challenge to work out. Boss was tricky but a lot of fun to beat! Played it on my GB Pocket, and it looked and played perfect. Top marks! (you need to expand on this game, make it into something bigger! It's what Luigi's Mansion would have been on the DMG!)

I keep coming back to this game to beat it several times... this is the winner in my book!
