What a crazy and fun little game! The music was very funky! The ending was very spooky indeed! Great job!
I was playing, saw red text flash on my screen, and was told that this wouldn't last any longer. I am scared. Please help. ((Really cute game before the spooky secrets))
Cool game! I really like how more of the story is revealed through hidden secrets.
This game is haunted. Do not download it. Do not look deeper. You do not want to keep looking.
The recovered/corrupted game meta-story you have going on is such a cool setup for a whole series. Great job with this one!
Thanks!
I’m glad people are starting to connect the dots. Glad you enjoyed it!
The ending took a turn I did not expect. Was thinking "Oh, it's a little spooky platformer" and then bam it breaks out the horror.
this is very much what I was aiming for so all the confirmation it’s working in the comments is nice.
Thanks for playing!
A nice game. I do have a few critiques though - the camera likes doing weird thigs, so sometimes I couldn't see the text or the obstacles, and sometimes you can get hit by a single enemy multiple times. I like the narrative, and the bits of meta-narrative. The dialogue could use some work. The ending was very well executed - good job!
yeah people have brought up these issues before and I understand it, the camera move trigger has issues when you are jumping and the wisps hitting you twice was something I was just kinda coping with. Glad you find the narrative interesting, some people are finding secrets by accident and are thinking they are real glitches though. Thanks for playing and I’m glad you had fun!
Enjoyed the twist at the end! Sheep's really cute too : ) Overall it was a fun experience. Only feedback would be I kinda wish I could see abit more of what's coming up next so that I anticipate jumps or dodges etc. At least there ---were spawn points, that made retrying not a chore. I like the mechanics of the enemies - those were creative, though I wish the wisps wouldn't stun lock you and knock you upwards as it sometimes bounced onto the wisp again on its own a few times and there was nothing you could do about it.
Thanks for playing!
Yeah the wisps can be kinda annoying but I tried to give a long enough damage buffer to where it wouldn't cause to much trouble. I'm glad you didn't think dying was massively annoying though and that retrying wasn't a boring chore. I spent like 30 minutes figuring out how to draw a sheep in a small resolution so I'm glad people like it. for the camera I can see the issue, I didn't think it was to bad so I never really changed anything with it but I understand the complaint. nice to know people like the ending, just a small twist with nothing else spooky going on :)
again thanks for playing and I'm glad you enjoyed the game.
Nice work :) Full review here:
Thanks for playing!
I don't know if you went back and finished the game or not but non the less I'm glad you played and it's good to know people don't hate my game.
is that an easter egg at the start of the game where you can drop down into the ground?
Yeah, I don't know if you went further and hit the trigger but yes, there are a couple of fake collision that lead to secrets. I wasn't going to make the ending the way it is without giving some secrets to find to explain things further.
yes, I kinda wish it played the text faster though. Nice game!
Yeah I can understand that, Thanks for playing!
That was fun! The change from green to red was really cool, adding to the whole end! Well done!
thanks for playing!
I had a very dumb color palette switching system, especially saying I used it for the transitions too but it works and that’s what matters.
Glad you enjoyed it
Great level design! It was fun and felt really fair. The sprites are really cool. One time I glitched into the ground relatively close to the start, but other than that the game was amazing!
thanks for playing and the feedback!
Although did you glitching into the ground happen because of an enemy or just falling through because you might have just found one of the secrets by accident. But uh glad you enjoyed the game!
Good to see another GDevelop game here! Great job with the level. I really appreciated you incorporating checkpoints and iFrames so it felt fair. The ending definitely took a turn!!! Great job!
Ah thanks for playing! wasn't expecting to find another gdevelop user to be honest. Spent like 3 whole days working on level design so I'm happy people like it. Glad you enjoyed the game!
The sprites are cute! And I really like it when those big skull heads drop on the floor, make a big thud, and the camera shakes-- the game feel from that is very nice. And I liked that sequence where you had to just keep running and jumping to avoid the slew of falling skulls and jack-o-lanterns; finishing that all in one go felt really good. The music is nice too.
I had issues with the i-frames and collisions though; sometimes I would get hit by an incoming ghost worm enemy and it would knock me back and then hit me again as I was being knocked back and recovering.
Nonetheless, I enjoyed playing! (And yikes, that ending was spooky!)
Hey thanks for playing!
Yeah the ghosts can kinda wombo combo you but I did give a big damage recovery time because of that so hopefully it didn't get to many people killed.
Glad you like all the enemies, music and art, drawing a sheep in a small resolution was somehow the hardest thing I did for the jam. and once again thanks for playing I'm glad you enjoyed it
(also Ooo spoooooopy ending Oooo)
Oh, wow, was not expecting that ending, that was very well executed. This is a fun game, my main issue would be the strange way the camera pans, or should I say, doesn't pan up or down until you "exit" the camera view, hope I'm explaining myself. Makes it feel like I am taking some leaps of faith dropping down some parts of the level, althought now that I think about it I don't think there are any bottomless pits in this game.
The jack'o lanterns enemies were a very fun idea I think, also, I like the way you framed this as being a "restored" old classic in the itchio page. Now that I think about it, that should have given me a clue as to what you were going for with that ending.
Thanks for playing! people seem to love the ending so I guess I did well there
as for the camera, yeah I can see the issue it's due to how I set up the camera movement but yeah there's not bottomless pits but you can still run into enemies in some cases but I hope it didn't hinder things to much
Jack-o-lanturns were the only enemy I designed originally so I'm glad you liked them
Glad you like the itch page too, just a fun idea with absolutely no secrets going on one bit. I would never make an arg for a jam that would be dumb.
Again thanks for playing, I'm glad you had fun and your game was pretty good too
Fun little romp with an ending that genuinely made my cat jump IRL 🤣
I can say for certain jumpscaring a cat wasn't on my bucket list but I guess I can say I did it
Thanks for playing!
Yeah, what the. Was not expecting that ending. Cool.
Cool game. I really like the controls for the main character. Also, he/she is really cute. Cool ending :)
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed the game.
Nice to know the game doesn’t feel awful to play
Very well done, liked the falling brick things, and the ending was unexpected.
Thanks, Definitely proud of the ending but I did spend a lot of time making it so maybe that explains why I like it so much.
thanks for playing!
Fun game! I liked the various mechanics of the enemies! The ending really scared me 😅
Thanks! glad you enjoyed it, also happy the jumpscare worked. and there is nothing else in the game that's spooky not one bit :)
Thanks for playing!
