This one looks so great! Very polished for a jam game and I loved the Pokemon Snap concept. It took me a bit to process everything, but I liked how each cryptid had specific times of day they were active and I love all the animations (particularly the Mothman eating lol). Only note is that the arrows in the Folkedex missed my clicks every once in a while, but this is a truly excellent entry. Great work team!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing reno! Glad you noted the fact that the cryptids had bedtimes! The mothmen's probiscus was a very nice touch indeed by @junkgolem!

I noticed the issue iwth the Folkedex buttons post-submission! I think it had to do with my custom button class top node not "Passing" mouse inputs to the child Area2D detecting mouse overs. Have made the changes for the next time I use that custom node! Thanks for pointing it out!

Really cool game, It was stressing to start directly with a timer and the controls are hard to get used to, so I think a tutorial phase would be cool but I liked everything else. The visuals are super pretty, the monsters strolling around are cute and the mechanic of taking photos and completing mission was a great idea ! I had a lot of fun, really good job !

Developer

Thanks for playing stormring! Yea the tutorial aspect was definitely the biggest thing we needed to work on! But glad you still figured out how to play eventually!

High quality with lots of attention to detail.

Developer

Thanks for playing hatmix!

very fleshed out and well executed, great work.

Thanks for playing Circle House! Glad you enjoyed it!

This is such a delightful concept. The art style is SO CUTE. The controls tripped me up a bit, it'd be nice if you could left click to go into zoom mode, left click to take a photo, right click to leave zoom... maybe even hold down left  to zoom, let go to take picture and return to the wide view.

Developer

Thanks for playing Delvan! Yea a heavier emphasis on using the mouse as a controller would indeed make it easier to take photos! As it stands there does seem to be too many buttons! Thanks for the feedback!

Whole game felt very polished, and the ui is really attractive. Great design on the Folkemons too XD

Developer

Thanks for playing Specturnal! We too fell in love with the critters @junkgolem conjured up!

Submitted(+3)

A really great entry, good use of the theme and another great pun title.  Made me nostalgic for Pokemon Snap. Would photograph cryptids again.

Developer

Thanks for playing ned! Yes we hope you will join us again in future

great concept and great execution, i liked it!

Developer(+2)

Thanks for playing Kissa! We're glad you liked it!

This game was so cool. I like the sound effects for the creatures and the atmosphere it creates. The art looks cohesive and that helps make the game really immersive. I like the design of the game and the depth of the lore. I especially like the little animations for the interactions in the UI, the most impressive being the Folkedex book. All in all a fantastic game, great work!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing and for your kind words Soda!

It was the first time we are working together as a team, but we were thrilled that we matched immediately on the art, music and gameplay directions! We wanted to polish the game as much as we could, and we're glad you enjoyed it!

Submitted(+3)

This is awesome, it fits the theme so well! A very polished complete experience. I went in blind without really reading much about how to play and was able to figure things out fairly quickly. Well done!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing NInja! We definitely need to work on the itch page tutorial, or a in-game play-by-play walkthrough! But glad that you figured out how to play intuitively!

Submitted(+1)

Oh no worries, I just meant that I usually don't read the itch page unless I can't figure things out in the game itself. I like to see if the game can stand on its own without external directions!

Submitted(+3)

Really really well made, graphics are phenomenal and the gameplay is cozy and fun. The level of polish from the animations and cryptid behaviors to the day/night cycle and SFX are really well done. It took me a little while to realize the biomes are interconnected and the cryptids move between them, and I ended up sitting there trying to gather all four for a group photo, though I couldn't quite manage it lol. Amazing job!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing PGT! I'm glad you noticed that the ambient sounds change with the day night cycles! When our musician @passivistefforts suggested it I too was immediately sold on the idea! It was the first time we are working with our artist @junkgolem, but we were thrilled that we matched immediately on the art, music and gameplay directions!

Unfortunately, given the creatures bedtimes, I dont think it would have been possible to get them all in one photo. One of them is always asleep at some point :D

Submitted(+3)

Oh wow, a quality game right here. Amazing.

There are many buttons to remember so my hands were definitely dancing on my keyboard. I love that gallery mechanism that I can go through the photos and sort them out. FolkéDex is also cool to learn about all the different creatures.

All the creatures were cute. The naming of the game is also nicely done. haha

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing Yoneda and for your kind words!
Indeed, there were quite a few actions possible. At first we did not even have hotkeys until @passivistefforts suggested it, could you imagine?

Our artist @junkgolem would be thrilled to hear that you found the creatures cute (we did too :D)!

Submitted(+3)

Game looks gorgeous and I love some of the details like page flipping in the folke'dex. The shutter on the picture taking seems a bit long, and the game seems too slow between animation transitions in the menu, but fantastic work.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing Terrors! The art and animations that @junkgolem drew was a big part on our motivation to push this game through too! Agree that the cooldown on the photo taking could be tweaked down, maybe to 1 second!

Submitted(+3)

It was a lot of fun! Great job!

Developer(+2)

Thanks a lot for playing, happy you enjoyed!

Developer(+2)

Thanks for playing Pastry! :D

Submitted(+3)

Art and music are spot on, and I like how the game made me put a bit of thought into setting up my shots to meet each request. The menu animations are a little too long for my taste, but that's about the only criticism I have.

Developer(+1)

Thank you very much! I assume you're talking about the book animations, which I can agree we could've made a bit more snappy. Very glad you enjoyed the game and art, personally had a lot of fun with the audio on this one. Thanks again!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing John! @junkgolem and @passivistefforts never fail to deliver on art and music respectively! Agree on the menu animations, speeding them up a few FPS per frame would be ideal. We hope you had fun photographing our resident cryptids!

Submitted(+3)

Very well put together. I really liked the feature of being able to dynamically switch levels to look for the right creatures. And the photo taking mechanic is really cool!

Developer(+2)

Much appreciated! Our coder busride studio went all out on this one, very happy to hear you enjoyed it!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing basement! We hope you had fun traversing the different biomes and enjoying the unique art and music in each one!

Submitted(+3)

This looks SO polished for how short a time we had and a GREAT concept for the game

Developer(+2)

Thank you very much! Very happy to have been working with a couple powerhouses this week :) Really happy you enjoyed our game!

Developer(+2)

Thanks Pasta for playing! I was sold immediately when @junkgolem and @passivistefforts told me about their idea for the game! Then all of us spent the past week crunching together to get it out. It was a mad but awesome week for us!

Submitted(+3)

love the art style!

Developer(+1)

Thank you very much for playing! Our visual artist @junkgolem knocked it out of the park for sure!

Developer(+1)

Thanks zion! Yes @junkgolem really blew us away too with the art!
