I was surprised and delighted to find a character creation section in the game, and enjoyed the wanderings.
Also, having done some minor (less than 60 second) narration in a previous jam, I know just how hard that is to get right, and so congrats to getting some excellent dialog in a jam.

Sadly I got lost in the post-swan maze, and so after wandering for 10+ minutes I had to move on to the next game.

Developer

Yeah, I realize I made that maze a bit too convoluted. Thanks for playing!

Submitted(+2)

I did not expect to get trapped in a character creating screen in a game jam game. Kudos for that.

Also the rest of the game is really good and a unique take on the theme, but that's the bit that really caught me off guard. Maybe the mazes were a bit too big? It took me a while to wander in the right direction on the last one, even after I've realized the best way to meet up was to have both character and reflection meet up at the same edge.

Developer

I’m stoked you got trapped in the character creation hahaha ~

I agree about the mazes. I didn’t want them to be trivial, but I didn’t want them to feel too annoying either. It was really hard to find a balance, and I realize they ended up being a bit too tedious. Thanks for the feedback!!

Gamepad support, the character creator, and the philosophical musings were all appreciated.  Good work!

Developer

Thanks for playing!

I did not know what to do in the second level after the dialogue stopped. I ran around a bit but it would not go to another level. Did it twice. I can see what the game is doing and really unique take on reflection theme.
Good job ^^

Developer

Did you manage to make your way out of the maze in the second level?

Submitted

Sadly I did not do a third playthrough.

Developer(+1)

Thank you for the feedback!

I’m writing this just because I want to explain the second level — I’m not saying you should play it again. Like Saad hinted at, the goal of that level is to get out of the maze (and into the blue). I tried making the maze solvable with some trial-and-error exploration, but I admit I didn’t have time to get it just right, and some paths are definitely more tricky than others.

Since the voting period is almost over, I’m okay with spoiling level 2 completely — if you’re curious, here’s an editor-screenshot of the entire maze, with mirrored walls overlayed.

Submitted(+1)

This looks good. I have to admit I am not good at puzzle type games. I will play it once again when I get some free time. Thanks for providing more info on the game.

Nice experience, a soothing atmosphere and a take on the theme that not many followed, good job!
I love the message of us being shaped by the idea of others, and that what we consume changes what we become.

At the end I don't know if the reflection was supposed to stay there and bugged out or if it was intended for it to stay in the "ice", so I'll let the creator tell me if it was intended or not :D

Developer

Thanks!

The reflection is not supposed to stay there, but it’s controlled separately from the character in the first and third levels (using arrow keys instead of wasd). I wasn’t sure how to communicate this in-game, so I expected some confusion there, but I tried to be clear about the controls in the menu and in the itch description.

Wow, that was amazing! Really cool concept and realization, I would loved something more playable but it feels complete anyway. Good job!!

Developer

Thank you!

Excellent game! Very thought provoking... very cool interpretation of the theme...

Developer(+1)

Thank you! Glad to provoke some thought!

Wow, this has so much going for it, I love what you did with the title, the mechanics, gamepad support, easily accessible options.  And then the content, it's been something I've been personally thinking about quite a bit lately.  I tore my ACL earlier this year and wasn't able to walk for 6 months, I literally had my first jog last week.  As I slowly get more physically capable and bring back things into my life, I'm trying to do so with more intention.  I could soapbox about this forever but this really got to me on every level and I hope everyone takes it to heart.

From a game perspective, I could imagine expanding this to tie in more with the audio, like there are pieces of bread you can collect, but then it's phones, tvs, social media icons etc.  Maybe this particular idea is too on-the-nose or cheesy but just a thought.  Keep up the good work!

Developer

I’m really glad it resonated with you, that’s all I could hope for. And it’s great to hear you’re recovering — keep at it!

I love the idea of little collectables (especially bread crumb), that would have been a great addition for sure. Now I’m only planning to add subtitles and fix some bugs, but I’ll add it to my list of potential future additions anyway.

Thanks!

I really enjoyed playing this! Lots of games made on the same theme but this one stands out in a great way. Simple, yes but impactful! The storytelling, music and graphics all tie together so well and your pause screen UI was so clean :D

I think the 'what do the mirrors reflect' screen is great mechanically but as you mentioned in-game, it does unfortunately look quite rushed. Overall loved my experience with your game. Great job!

Developer(+1)

Yeah, I simply didn’t have time to polish “the mirrors” at all. I’m glad you enjoyed playing anyway! Thanks!

Submitted(+2)

This is a master piece, I wouldn't mind playing that again lol. Amazing work!

Developer

Thank you so much!!

Pure magic—such a great idea! I really enjoy this type of game, and this little gem feels like a beacon for the spirit of this jam. It can definitely serve as inspiration to expand many of the concepts created during the event. It would be worth improving the controls a bit to ensure the experience fully captures its essence. Thank you for sharing this wonderful concept with us!

Developer

Thank you so much for you comment! I'm glad you enjoyed :)

Developer

Thanks, I really appreciate it!

Could you explain what you mean about improving the controls? We’re planning to do a little post-jam polish update, so concrete feedback would be very welcome.

Submitted(+1)

Thanks for asking! What I meant about improving the controls mainly refers to a few moments early in the game, especially when you’re still getting familiar with how things work. There are points where you can get stuck, and it’s a bit hard to break free. Maybe it’s just me not being clever enough, but in those moments, I feel like I lose a bit of focus from the amazing atmosphere that the game creates.

That said, the controls feel much smoother later in the game, once you get used to them. My comment is more about those initial movements and mechanics—it’s just a personal observation and might not even align with how the systems were designed intentionally. It’s just a small thing, but it might be worth revisiting to see if there’s room for refinement.

Developer

I see, I guess you mean the level where your reflection moves opposite of you. I think what you’re describing is actually intentional — the gimmick is that you have to find a way that’s open for both your character and your reflection, so it can feel like you get stuck if you don’t realize there’s a wall blocking your reflection… that, or you encountered a really rare bug that causes a desync/mismatch between the instances, which really messes things up. (I’m going to fix that in the post-jam update.)

Thanks again!

Submitted(+1)

Ok, it’s probably more of my impression than an actual bug.

Submitted(+2)

I really enjoyed this entry! To contrast the vibe of the experience, I made myself a little dinosaur :)

Developer

That dinosaur is fking adorable, I love it.

This game was the perfect integration of the theme into a calm atmosphere with such great voice acting and simple but really beautiful art, so much so that I played it a second time just because of how calming it is and how good it sounds. Its extremely polished and makes me never want to quit playing it again.

You've made a great game with this!

Developer

Wow, thank you so much! I’m glad it resonated with you!!

(+2)

The music and voice acting were stellar, and I did not expect this collab lol

Game connects to the theme really well, and the only negative thing I can say about the game is how short it is

Overall, a very solid, polished, and immersive experience

Developer

Thank you Sevadusk! I'm really happy you enjoyed it haha. Unfortunately we couldn't create a longer experience because of how busy we were so we just made the scope as tiny as imaginably possible and even then we had problems lol

Submitted(+1)

Nice vibe and music! I also liked how you combined both reflections - a mirror game with a reflection-themed narrative.
About the game mechanic - I liked the flow and idea, but it wasn't clear whether something was a game glitch or it was intended. I had to restart a few times, and I am still not sure whether I failed to get to the next transition, or there was a bug, or that was it and the game ended.

Developer (1 edit)

Hi, thank you for the kind words!

Unfortunately, I introduced a level transition bug right before the deadline, which explains the issues you experienced. It should be very clear when the game ends.

I hope you’ll try it again once I’m able to upload a fix!

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Hi again, these issues should be fixed now. Feel free to give it another try!

Submitted(+2)

Thank you! I tried again and had no issues this time! It is a nice immersive experience :)

Developer(+1)

Awesome, thanks ~
