I could see this becoming a super fun game like hotline miami but with a twist, fantastic job!
My Notes
Pretty cool game! it has a lot of cool details, pretty impressive for a jam game. You really need to adapt the way you play depending on the weapon you carry. Well done!
Wow! Love this game. Great idea, good artwork, nice music and sound.
The game keeps adding new elements and evolving with the fun boss fight and extra fun twist ending.
Only critic is the menu is a little clunky and polish would put this this to the next level - but understand time constraints.
Best one I have played so far, Thanks for submitting
The menus are taken straight from Maaack's GWJ template, and after some teething issues I didn't want to risk breaking them by trying to customize them. It's definitely something I plan to keep in mind next time as worth improving.
And glad you enjoyed it!
I enjoyed the game's sense of humor and the wide variety of weapons and enemies. The boss was tricky though, it seemed like the arena was set up to not let you use a lot of the more obvious lines of attack, which combined with the boss moving made hitting the boss hard. I gave up on using the sniper after a while and just let the boss kill itself with its own attacks, which feels fitting in a way. Good work!
It was part that and part trying to reduce the about of time I'd accidentally shot myself in the back while testing. After a certain point I did realize the best way to kill the boss was to let it kill itself, but like you said, it felt fitting so I left it that way.
Thanks!
Really great idea! I think it works best when the enemies are static (like the turret level). Combining this with stealth and a limited ammo supply could make it really brilliant!
Love the presentation of it, the tileset is great and the music works really well.
Great work!
I was actually going to do a stealth-ish level, but I'd not gotten around to implementing patrolling enemies by the time I got to the level design phase. Maybe next time.
Thanks!
I have a great time playing it, the last level with your double actually got me tring to kill it to end up dying too. There was a lot of level and variety in weapons. Great Work
Oh good, I was beginning to worry I'd made it a bit too obvious you're not meant to fight in that last level :)
Happy you enjoyed it!
This was so much fun! Initially I wasn't really finding a reason to rebound the bullets and was happy shooting directly but the level where it's mentioned on screen was great. Had a lot more fun with rebounding bullets and was shocked at how the levels kept coming. You got so much done!
Boss fight was a challenge, however it was taking out almost half its health upon seeing me due to rebounding bullets through its own shield. A few careful snipes later and I was free to find my reflection and win the game! Great work!
In fact, I left making most of the levels until Saturday, but I did make sure to have a fair portion of the level elements (turrets, levels, shields, weapons etc.) ready to go by then. Previous experience with modding games taught me its really helpful to have a toy-box full of stuff to reach into when coming up with level ideas :]
Thank you and happy you had a good time!
This was so good! I love that bullet damage increases with every bounce, really incentivises the player to utilise that mechanic rather than just directly shooting enemies. The inclusion of multiple types of weapons, enemies and shields really keeps the game fresh with every level. The difficulty flow is perfect as well, although the final boss is quite a jump. Overall, had a great time with this one!
I might have tuned the boss fight more, but I ended up enjoying how it turned out the best strategy was to duck behind cover and let the boss shoot itself to death. More on theme that way, I decided. Glad you had a good time!
Fun game! Enjoyed planning out my shots when there was time. I'm not too good with shooting games, so I did kill myself a couple of times spamming shots that came back to me.
Nice work!
Right back at you!
The compliment that is, not the bullets.
I wasn't the best at the game, but I really enjoyed the time I had with it! My favorite levels had to do with the "stealthy" segments that required me to stay out of sight and line up the perfect shot. That was incredibly fun! Great job c:
Really cool! The final boss fight really forces the player to use the bouncing bullet mechanic. I got very excited when the reflected clone got introduced but it looks like you must have run out of time to flesh out that mechanic. I would love to see where you take that idea. Overall very awesome game.
The idea of the last level was to pay a bit of homage to the Shadow Man from the original 2d Prince of Persia, so most of the room is actually just a red herring to bait the player into shooting themselves a few times. What I did run out of time for was having the negative clone show up in a few of the earlier levels to be an inconvenience, but oh well.
Great game! I really liked the idea of energizing to start each level and thought the animation for the fallen enemies was fantastic. Very fun and easy to play!
Happy to hear you had fun!
I loved this game! The game design was great (I died with the distraction, by the way hahaha) and in the end I was able to win without a fight! :D
I was hoping I'd get someone with that! Glad you liked it!
Woah, that game is really polished! Great job. I also had problems with the final boss, but nevertheless i loved the gameplay. The music and sounds are good, everything fits quite well together.
Glad you liked it!
Great job! I really love the smug feeling from sniping from around the corner. The (I'm assuming) last boss was too hard for me but I really enjoyed it overall.
Difficulty is always ...difficult... to get right. I've tuned that boss so that I can beat in about three tries or so, but of course I have the advantage of knowing how the game works. Because I did figure some people might struggle with some level or another that I made harder than intended, I did leave some cheats in for just such an occasion. I've updated the game's page to list them.
Glad to hear you liked it anyway, though!
