I liked the atmosphere and the puzzles, even if they were mostly on the easy side.  Wish I could figure out the final door though.  I thought for sure I had it the second playthrough but no such luck.  Might give it another go later.  Good work!

I love games that do these light horror/creepy themes like the ones this game presents. The parallel worlds is done very well here and kept me wanting to keep going and see what came next. Was expecting a monster or something at some point but I'm glad there wasn't one as i feel that may have ruined the experience. The ambiguous ending is well done as is the whole game really, love this one to bits especially the little mage protagonist.

Fantastic work, one of my favorites for the Jam!

This is a really good narrative game. I forgot I was rating a game. This genre of games is not my taste but I was really into because of the art style of the game.
I like the music and the art style and especially the chibi main character :3 (looks like final fantasy dark mage)
The environment really conveys the atmosphere really well and writing adds to it.
Good job guys ^_^

Sadly I got the bad ending, I did not know the right answer ^^'

This is my favourite game of the jam. Props to the people who did writing on this, it really highlighted the excellent atmosphere of the game. I loved the art and the music was good.

I’m sorry I went against the intended narrative experience, I liked the writing so much that I replayed the game for the other ending! I wished there was more, I can definitely see this narrative expanded into a longer game.

Well done!

Developer

Thank you! It feels amazing that you enjoyed it enough to go for a second run!

This entry is one of my favorites. Great storytelling, with the visuals and sfx helping to creating a mysterious atmosphere. The puzzles are beginner-friendly, and the game mechanics (e.g. the 2D puzzles) are decent. There are only a few things that I would improve:

  • relevant notes/information can't be obtained again, e.g. notes are removed after you've read them, or dialogues (because they are important e.g. for the last puzzle)
  • sometimes the sfx does not quite match the room (footsteps on wood in the bathroom)
  • the visual style of the character appears to be a bit different than the rest of the game, imho
  • the game felt too easy / linear for my taste - the only challenge for me was the final door. I did not solve this correctly, despite knowing that I had to look out for clues (from watching Vikfro's stream) - I guess I'm not an attentive reader^^

These are rather nitpicks though, overall I really enjoyed the game.

Thank you, great to hear you liked it! When it comes to the difficulty we had to weigh between making people able to complete the game and not being too easy. Being a jam entry, we ended up erring on the side of making it too easy rather than cause frustration. I wish we could have implemented more puzzles that work in parallel, so there could be more misleading notes and items to manage. Unfortunately, time constraints put a bit of a damper on that and we focused more on the overall narrative experience.

Had some chat with outisim during the gameplay. Well beside the music loop stuck due to html export I didn’t encountered anything. Controls and Accessibility was great for me, had no issues playing the game. The story and puzzles were also noob friendly for noobs like me. Took me a while to finish the game but made it! Overall the presentation is really good, gameplay is smooth, graphics are really nice, audio supports the game well.

Also great to see a bigger team worked together here and you see it on the game.

Well done and good job to all!

This game is great! In my submission I implemented the idea of gathering shards to put a mirror back together as well! From the graphics to the story building to the overall concept, I think this is an excellent submission and so impressive you were able to accomplish all of this in such a short amount of time!

Submitted(+3)

I had the idea of doing something like that, but you were able to do something way better than I though.

The puzzles was interesting and none too hard, I was able to finish and my only complain is that it's too short. (I wanted to play more ;-;)

Congrats!

Beautiful game, I was absolutely floored by the environments. As a team, you used lighting and colors to great effect. I was also really charmed by the main character being 3d but having a stop-motion style to their animation/walk. I think this is my favorite game in the jam and you all deserve a lot of credit and recognition for the work you did!

My only negatives are that I struggled with the globe puzzle, as I had turned down the sound effects and didn't realize the buttons were giving me audio feedback when pressed- but not visual. I was having so much fun that I h ad to try again and see where I had gone wrong! The second is the ending puzzle. I'm not sure if there were hints to a greater puzzle solution- but I felt that I was blindly guessing and got the bad ending. I really want to see the good ending but don't know where to look for clues.

I would love to see you all pursue this project further, or something similar. This is exactly the type of game I want to see and play! c:

Great aesthetics, I really enjoyed it. It would be great if the music didn't stop when the track finishes though, it was a bit to dreadfully without music.. Or was that also intentional? Great job in any way!

Developer(+1)

No, it wasn't intentional. There was some error with the browser version, that's why we wrote a highlighted line in description at top, requesting players to download the game instead.

Either way, its great that you liked it. And hopefully, you'll try it again, with the download version, since the music gets better as you progress through the levels.

Very cool game, it all flows together really well.

Amazing short game! World building was elegantly tied with its well paced plot. Loved how the game balanced between parts hand holding the player and letting them go so they could focus on the puzzles rather than the menial stuff. Great music too!

I enjoy the style! Very polished. I watched your Wolpertiger too which I loved too!

For looping in web, unselect ogg loop and instead you can use instead with a signal (node tab, AudioStreamPlayer -finished())

func _on_music_finished() -> void: $Music.play()

I found the same issue with web on ours and that fix should work on web with looping sound

Developer(+1)

Ah, that's such a simple fix, thank you

Developer(+1)

Glad you enjoyed my previous game and this one!

Also big thanks for the audio issue fix!

Submitted(+2)

I really liked the old style graphic and the rooms mechanics. Also dialogues are well written. Nice job with this one!

Submitted(+2)

Really well made game. Love the graphics style and enjoyed each of the puzzles. Not sure if failing the last puzzle is the intended outcome, but if not maybe a few more hints towards that one could help. The writing was also well done, really got me immersed in the world.

Submitted(+2)

The game's art style really blew me away. I think this game has the potential to evolve into a thrilling escape room experience. All in all, a fantastic game—great job!

Submitted(+2)

Great direction of the game it was quite fun really reminded me of the old ps1 pre rendered style especially the final fantasy style.  game provided just the right amount of challenge for a jam great job.

Developer

Thank you! When it comes the the background graphics I was inspired by FF9 but also western games like Sanitarium and Silver. The early raytraced look is just something I really like.

Submitted(+2)

Amazing art style with the pre rendereded, detailed models that contrast nicely with the more stylised character. Though I'm not a fan of the guessing game at the end, the mood set by the game is excellent and a great basis for a full escape room kind of game.

Developer

Thanks alot for playing the game. Yeah, thinking about it, we could work on its escape room features further to enhance the game.

Submitted(+2)

I didnt get the right answer :( this should definitely be a intense horror game, not the jumpscare kind.

Developer(+2)

Your suggestion is noted. If you read the final message on the body, let's just assume you gave up your freedom for the greater good 😂

(+2)

Love the game and the style, it has a nice direction to it along side the colors being more muted feeling compared to the color of the main character
