Yes

Summarise your game!
Play as a Virus and break out of a research facility by taking control of any living creature you can find. Solve puzzles by using the abilities of your victims.

Please explain how your game fits the theme:
You are a literal bioweapon that wants to control and destroy everything in its path. You fire yourself like a bullet at creatures. The player feels like they are a weapon by taking control of whatever they please and using them to their advantage.

Is there anything you'd like the judges to pay particular attention to?
Please play in full screen! And pay extra attention to visuals and how the Virus itself controls. Thank you!

Very all round great game! Thank you! :D

that was excellent , very creative , art, gameplay, story were all stellar

Some really fun level design, I loved the silliness of being able to stand on top of a rat. Absolutely fascinating game!

Submitted(+1)

Impressive how much you've managed to make in 2 weeks - art, mechanics, loved it.

My only 2 nitpicks would be like:
1) different  infection soundfx for different creatures,
2) uninfected scientists just vibing and not moving there looks a bit unimersive, maybe give em phones/tablets so they be like so preoccupied)

Submitted(+2)

This game is awesome. I love puzzle games that also require a bit of execution to solve things. The art style is great I really like it. I had a great time playing thru this game, fantastic work!

Developer(+1)

I found a stream vod on this, thanks for checking it out! You did the last level really quickly compared to everyone else, glad you liked it overall :)

Submitted(+1)

What a cool mechanic and tie into the theme! Nice touch with the added challenge of having to position characters to become platforms to reach the end of the level.

Submitted(+1)

Very nice game, definitely a lot of polish in the art. The mechanics are intuitive for a cloud-like bioweapon, passing between the scientists is fun.

Unfortunately the bounce on the right side to get to the upper part of the second level was too difficult, I wasn't able to enjoy the rest of your game! Perhaps some kind of tracer showing the predicted bounce path would help.

Hello there, I uhh yes feedback! woo! Steam? maybe? idk I'm writing this intro before looking at the game. Also I'll be extra harsh because of the Steam thing, the people are wild out there it's insane!!

Gonna start with screenshots: It's hard to tell who the main character or characters are? I think it's the scientist looking guys? But then there's multiple of them? idk... Graphically the screenshots do look nice although the environments don't have that much variance in them, indicating that this will be quite short (from a Steam shopper's POV on a Steam game). (after playing the game: please choose screenshots with different environments because YOU ALREADY HAVE THEM LMAO)

Alright let's start playing...

I like the "intro", it's a nice way to introduce game mechanics. The sound design was also pretty good, music is bangin'. 2nd level is already giving me trouble because of these controls. I don't understand why I can't slow down since trying to go the opposite direction seems to keep accelerating me weirdly. Somehow the 3rd level was easier, so I'd say there's definitely stuff to tweak in terms of difficulty progression. (I managed to understand how it works in the later levels which gave more room to move around in. Would definitely make the 2nd level a lot larger in size!)

So far the mechanics has been easy enough to understand, let's keep going.

I don't like the sudden camera changes in lvl 8? 9? idk I lost count and there's no UI that would tell me. I would make these more dynamic by slowly moving the camera towards the player once they start reaching that new area, and keeping it focused on the player while reaching the new area, then finally moving to the intended position. Just a bit cleaner and the player won't get as disoriented.

Would definitely like to see some UI showing the level count and maybe a unique name for each level. It's the sort of thing most puzzle games have.

Also there's a mix of elevator and door exits for levels. I feel like the elevators should be open and have a sign above them that say "EXIT". (in later levels the elevator was open? so there's some inconsistencies here, shouldn't be that hard to fix I'd assume)

So there's definitely more platforming than puzzles. The puzzles being very easy but I'd rather have easy puzzles than hard ones and get stuck. The Steam audience would probably appreciate more harder puzzles tho and less platforming, otherwise I'd consider this closer to the platformer genre than the puzzle one. I don't really play that many puzzle/puzzle platformers but I'd recommend looking into Mind Over Magnet's devlogs/game design videos since those seem to be very valuable for puzzle platformers.

(this is a playlist, would recommend watching from the linked video

)

Overall, it's a solid, bit too easy puzzle platformer with great graphics and sound design! Another game without many design flaws other than difficulty.

Thanks for the review lol- I agree with a lot of your takes, some of the choices here were made because of the gamejam format like the easiness (I value people finishing the game a Lot so its something of a prototype of mechanics that have been put together rather than true puzzles- Id say the last level before the ending is the only true "Puzzle" in the game) so I agree that the general vibe would change for a full release. I agree that some puzzles order isnt perfect wrt difficulty, Im already thinking a bit about things that I would improve and cut out if this was a "first chapter" of a bigger game.. in an ideal world I think a full version of this game would start again from the beginning since this is like a condensed mechanics showcase but I know Lyoko would kill me if I made him start again so we'll see on that :) The devlog series by GMTK looks fun so Ill check it out!

Amazing! For sure one of the best games on this jam. I would just say to take extra attention to introducing player mechanics, for multiple occasions I tried to go through small 1x1 holes as a skull, which looks just right size to pass by, looking at the skull size, but in reality game is designed you can't pass them as the skull.

Also a minor detail, closing doors on top of entities should kill them , now they got stuck.

Developer(+1)

Thank you! And yea, youre right about the vents I can add something in the future to make them a bit more distinct and obvious as non-traversable for the skull. True for the characters getting squashed also, I didn't think about this interaction

I saw this game on Discord and I don't think it was a good representation of how awesome this game is. Puzzles progress at the perfect rate, having the "wait, can I be a rat/plant?" moment was so funny/rewarding. The last puzzle room was kind of tough but felt great when you figure it out. More levels and I can definitely see this game sell well!

Developer(+2)

Thanks! Yeah looking back I think I could have added a leadup puzzle before the last one but Im glad that players are still making it!

Submitted(+2)

Oh I also forgot to mention, if you stand on the edge of floor buttons, you can essentially freeze platforms in place (it quickly turns them on and off). It made a couple levels easier to complete.

Developer(+1)

Got it logged, ty :)

Wow! Intuitive mechanic. Executed perfectly. Ton of different levels and situations. I think my favorite was the level with the double platforms mirrored and you bounced between them. Then it did the next section with some jumping. Solid solid game. Level design was really the winner here. Art looks awesome and all the SFX and music were great.

Fantastic job!

Developer(+1)

We're so so glad that you enjoyed the variety of levels that the game had to offer!! To be honest I think that level is one of my favourites too, it's just fun when all the platforming comes together so smoothly, we hope it was satisfying!! You can thank pipotchi for the awesome level designs and puzzles, he did some amazing work making fun and concise levels! Thank you so much for your feedback! ^^

Submitted(+1)

Wow this is a well polished game and seems like there are a lot of levels already! The art work and sound design are great (very creepy, but amazing). It is a unique take on puzzle games and I really enjoyed playing it. Already feels like a complete game. Great work!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for the kind words!! I'm very glad that the creepy aesthetics came across at all, we were aiming for a little edgy but a little goofy at the same time - kinda like old school 90s games genre of edginess!

We really appreciate that you enjoyed our take on making a puzzle game and that you enjoyed it a lot!

Submitted(+1)

This is so good!!!!!! The game itself is so polished and well designed, the art is good too. Can see this goes into production and be a full fledged title. Well done! Nothing major to critique, but I somehow got stuck in the second level think the fan will hurt zombies (seen that once but I guess it's me misclicked) I originally think the skull control is a bit harsh but playing it for longer realised it fit quite well. Would like some more of it, and if it got a launch can I have a key? (just joking)

Developer

Thank you so much for your feedback!! Saying that this game could be a full fledged title and that you want more are amazing compliments, you're so kind!! <3

We've had a fair amount of critiques about the virus controller and while the intent was to make it unwieldy and a challenge to pilot, we think there is some truth to it being too harsh and punishing, especially when you make a mistake and get stuck bouncing on terrain. We're looking into ways to solve this and appreciate everyone's honesty about the virus controls.

Submitted(+2)

I really got into this! Nice puzzles, nice art, nice everything. Struggling to think of anything I'd change.

Developer

That is very kind!! Thank you so much and we're really glad you enjoyed it!

Submitted(+1)

Very well made game. The art direction and sound design are stellar. It's not always clear what's a threat to the player in different states. However, the game and puzzle design is remarkably polished. Great work!

Developer

Thank you so much for the feedback and kind words!! That's a fair point about what presents a threat to the player in different states, and we'll be looking into that if we decide to push the game further.

Submitted(+1)

This game is a treat. Well thought out mechanics, simple concept, great use of the theme and a full experience with a start and end without any bugs in my playthrough at least. The plant brought be back to opening the locks in Skylanders <3

Developer

Thank you so much for the kind words, we're so glad you enjoyed it!! Especially the plant puzzles, seems a lot of people liked it which is awesome for us!

Submitted(+1)

Well, I can definitely say its well executed game. The visuals and SFX are high quality. Needed some time to get used to controls and understand how to play but that still didn't help me with 2nd level. What ever I was doing I couldn't pass the propeller. Once I did it somehow but then crashed instantly (skill issue). Although I found 2 bugs.
1. On 1st level while controlling 1st scientist you can go to the right door and somehow squeeze yourself to next level.
2. On 2nd level you can get stuck between starting wall and first platform (before propeller).

Other than than amazing job!

Developer(+1)

Thank you for the compliments!! Your feedback is very fair, and we seem to have gotten a few people stuck on the 2nd level with the fans. We could've done a better job at making it clear that the fans only affect the Virus itself, not the host bodies.

That's a good spot finding that you can just squeeze into the next level trigger on the first level, thank you for pointing that out! And we didn't know that about the first part before the fan in the 2nd level, we'll look into both of these bugs. Thank you again for your feedback and we're glad you liked it even if you only saw 2 levels!! T_T <3

Submitted(+1)

I tried going through the fan as a zombie too, multiple times and also dead so idk if its a bug or I was doing something wrong.

Developer(+1)

Oh?? Okay thank you for letting us know, definitely makes some reports I've had from others make a lot more sense. We'll definitely look into that, it's 100% a bug.

Submitted(+2)

Love it. The Graphics. The music. The sound effects. The Puzzles. Just everything.  Absolutely beautiful and well done done game 100/100 Points from me❤

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much!! We're so glad you liked it, I happened to watch the VOD of you playing it on your stream and your compliments were so kind!! We're very pleased to have impressed you with our game!

(+2)

I love the game it has amazing visuals, concepts, and gameplay.  there is a visual error bug where I can't see the ends of the screen so It feels like I'm blindly guessing where I'm going. But other than that  AMAZING!!! cant wait to see what yall do next

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for the kind words!! Unfortunately the lack of clearer visual clarity for exits is just a time constraint thing, not a visual bug! T_T In future versions we'll be making it a lot more obvious hopefully /|\

Developer(+1)

Ahh yea it cuts the edges off the screen when not fullscreened, sorry about that. Glad you liked everything else!

All good ^^. Even in full screen I can't see the entity game. The level with the plants was were I couldn't see the edges :/

Developer

Ahh.. I wonder if it is because of screen size, is your pc 1920x1080? Ill definitely look into solving this if we take the game further

Submitted(+1)

This is awesome! The design is cool and the gameplay easy to understand but the gameplay itself is definitively not too easy to be boring! <3 Good work!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much!!!!! T_T We're glad that the difficulty is at a good spot and also fun at the same time!
