  • I think the puzzle element is fun. some more player interaction would be fun. for example maybe you have to platform closer until you can use your skills. like the cutting

A physics-based puzzle game where you slice and cut paths for your ingredients to bounce into a flaming cauldron. Navigate through dense shadows with the help of Sly, your clever cat, to ensure every ingredient finds its way home.

Extra Notes
This is my first game ever, as well as first time I try pixel-art and publishing my own home made music. Everything is made by myself and I'm proud.

Hey, the game is really simple but fun none-the-less; a really nice casual puzzle game. I’d love to see more content, but for a first game it’s really impressive to have functioning physics and an environment that can be interacted with like that. The shadows add an interesting touch to the visuals of the game but I feel like they could be leveraged more to make the game a little more interesting (so you have to use your environment to find where the ingredient is dropping from - this might be too frustrating, but it’s an idea).

In discord you asked what the most important things were, and I think enemies or global obstacles would be a great way to add more content and complexity to the game.

Overall, the game is fun, and I hope you keep making things :).

Thanks for your great input! I agree with everything you've said! Thanks!

Its a nice mechanic and interesting puzzle. my initial thought was that shadows would play more of a role like be solid and where it is lit it is air and you have to guide the potion that way. GJ!

Developer(+1)

That was my first intention of the game, to have the shadows affect the object directly, but then I ran in to too much performance issues so I had to pivot into this where the shadows are a reason to move your character because of visibility of the level.

Thanks for your feedback!

I like this a lot, the music is subtle, the sound effects are good and the game mechanics start simple but allow you to solve the puzzles in unique ways.

Developer

Thank you for the kind words! :)

Really fun idea! Super impressive too that this is your first game ever. Bright future ahead for sure, thank you for sharing your game. You SHOULD be proud!

Developer

Thanks, that means a lot! Thank you!

If this is your first game like you said then you've got a lot to be proud of here. No fps issues. no big playability issues. Pretty good puzzles! good job and keep making games!

Developer

Thank you Grantler! Yes it's my first game and first time with pixel art. I've been a developer for over 7 years so I got that going for me which is nice! It's also the first time I've published any of my songs.

Thanks again! I'm very proud over my creation and I'll continue working on it!

Very fun and unique puzzle game. I love that the ball has a bit of randomness to it, so when I almost complete the puzzle by a hair, I can just wait and cheer for it to go into the pot the next time.

Developer

Thank you very much! :)

Very neat physics cutting game!  It was simple, yet challenging.

Developer

Thanks Jyunaut! :)

Really fun little physics/puzzle game! I think the core mechanic of cutting a path for something to travel through (and maybe additionality constructing a path) has a lot of potential. Great work!

Developer

Thank you Willurd!

Nice puzzle game! The physics and shadows add a bit of a challenge. I think you could go further with the shadow aesthetic, instead of fully colored pixel character, maybe the payer is in silhouette as well. Overall, well done for your first game ever!

Developer

Good idea! Yeah time ran out before I could improve the player character! :)

Well done! I love this music )

Thank you Kirin! :)

Interesting mechanic that is well executed, though I sometimes want to cut the bottom of something but the slicing seems to prioritize the higher chunk as the one to become a physics objects. Would maybe experiment with taken the smaller of the two pieces instead, to allow for a bit more creative solutions.

To be really Nit-picky here; the player character isnt really needed, gameplay wise, except for the first level.

Other than that, great game, make more levels :D (maybe some that require more of the player's character)

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the great feedback!

Yeah I've been having some troubles to get the correct mechanic for slicing, I tested a solution with the largest piece always staying static, but then pillars and similar items were very underwhelming, I'll continue to improve this in the future!

As for the player, yes it was planned, but time ran out and now he's only necessary for running through the shadows to get a overview of the level currently. In the future I'm thinking of limiting the actions to in his vicinity, as well as fighting monsters in the level at the same time. Maybe you could crush monsters with the environment as well.

Thanks again for your great review!

Simple, but funny puzzle game with interesting levels and game mechanics implementation. I like it :)

Thank you very much Yurdess! <3

Wow!! What an interesting mechanic, and for a first time game, it's amazing. It did see to have some performance issues, but that might just be my browser. Overall, I thought this was super unique, and the music was great! You're going to do great things my friend :)

Developer

Thank you so much Ceribrox! :) Yes sadly I've not optimized it a lot and it's a loot of polygon-math both for the homemade shadows and the physics.

Thanks again!

I wouldn't say sad at all! Performance doesn't matter much at all in this game, so it didn't take away from the experience at all!

5/5 Good game! Well done.

Feed back for you:
Vary the bounce noise, was repetitive after listening to it. Maybe directional.
I so wish the ball despawn when not moving. I was so close to winning, and it died :(

Developer(+1)

Thank you very much Hades!

I agree with both your points, both the bounce noise and that I should change the despawn minimum movement threshold to a lower amount. Thanks for your feedback!

Submitted(+1)

I can change the terrain to control the character's position and gather more information, and I can also direct the ball. I really like this aspect; it definitely adds a lot of puzzle elements!

Developer

Thanks!

I love when games to destructible or sliceable environments, so this gets a thumbs up from me :)

Developer

Thank you very much!

Okay I'm not gonna lie, when I first opened the game I was ready to give this like 60 seconds at most. The camera being so zoomed out and playing as a tiny little sprite that floats around when you jump was not appealing at all.

But WOW when I started moving around and saw the lighting I thought "okay that's pretty cool". Then I unlocked the sword "chunk"er? GAME CHANGER.

I was pulled in so hard by the destruction mechanic and the slicing tool, genuinely amazing concept and mechanic and SO SO well executed. What a fantastic puzzle game, a ton more levels and an art facelift and I could easily see this game being a full gaming experience.

Really really well done and the literal definition of "Don't judge a book by it's cover".

Developer

Wow, this means a lot. Thank you so much! Wow, I'm a bit overwhelmed by your positivity, thank you! <3
