  • LOVE the game volume and color blind options!! Those are so helpful and appreciated! The in game tutorial and instruction is really nice. The art design is so good on this game. It gives an old school TV 90's feel and I loved that so much. The controls and physics of the gun were unique. I was not expecting the shooting to help you navigate. That was a good design. The sound when you shoot the clown character made me laugh out loud! The ability to slow the game down was really key to balance of the game mechanics and my ability to master them. I liked being able to speed it up on a last hit that I knew would hit so I didn't have to wait. I like that you can select the different levels from the menu/save disc screen. That was handy and useful. The one thing I would say to work on is the physics of the shooting. When I shot the gun it did not consistently/always propel me a direction. It sometimes stayed where it was instead of propelling me away from the shot I'd just taken. This needs a bit of fine tuning so the player can rely on the controls and their ability to maneuver. Thank you so much for your submission to the game jam. This was really creative, very fun to play and was on theme!

Fun little arcade game. I like the art and the music!

I had several issues while playing the game, firstly, it’s nearly impossible to play only on full speed. The speed of the “normal” game is way too fast and so difficult to control the gun.

There is no challenge to the game, as being able to play the game permanently in slow mo made it way too easy, albeit just really slow to move around. The gun having unlimited ammo, as well as being able to shoot semi-auto without reloading by just spam clicking also makes the game really easy. The only way I died was being impatient and letting go of the right mouse button to speed things up.

It seems weird that the gun also only changes direction if you click close to the gun. Why does it matter how far you click from the gun, when the gun should always have recoil.

The autoscroll on the camera is really annoying, as many times the gun travels way faster than the camera, making you not be able to see the gun at all. Furthermore, together with the previous issue of having to click close to the gun, you basically cannot control your character at all the moment you go out of the screen.

The concept and idea is great, the artwork and music are also a nice touch. It needs work on the gameplay and mechanics, but it has potential as a prototype to the game jam! Great job!

I added a recoil option in the menu to have recoil every shoot, if you want to try again with that enabled, and I fix the camera (isn't a big update)

Okay this game is so fun. I can see speed runners competing with this as well as some kind of infinite mode. I enjoyed trying to figure out how to use the physics to my benefit without also unclicking the rmb. The pixel art and level design are cool. I spend most of my time in the slo-mo mode though maybe it's a skill issue not being able to use the normal time as a boost? Love the crt effect and the level select screen. Especially because the effect isn't too overdone so everything is easy too see. Great work and great game jam game!

This was a fun mechanic. The full speed was completely uncontrollable for me so I basically had to play only in bullet time. It felt like the only case where it made sense to switch to full speed was when I had a bullet in the air and just needed to move forward. With that in mind i think it would have made more sense to have bullet time be the default and have you click to fast forward. Or slow down real time a bit to make it more manageable. I also felt that having to click the gun to change your velocity was odd. I was expecting every shot to effect velocity.

You are right, normal speed loses a bit of sense, but I found the problem, the real reason why it's uncontrollable at normal speed is the impulse mechanic. It's really hard to impulse in the correct direction at full speed.

I'm experimenting with some possible solutions. Thanks for the feedback!

Sorry, I harmed silly guy out of curiosity lol The mechanics were awesome, especially slow motion - but it was a bit too overpowered, perhaps make it limited in the number of uses per round to give the game some difficulty curve. Art was especially nice, and the backgrounds too. Sound effects were very fitting also. A great little game that you made in two weeks!

amazing game!

i really like the artstyle and gameplay

i wasn't a huge fan of the autoscroller camera, especially the seemingly random left turn in the last level - it made me lose track of my player a lot of times - maybe you could add a little icon that points to the player if you're offscreen

also having infinite bullets and time slowdown felt a little op - i have a couple of suggestions in terms of this:

1. make slowdown limited (or have it charge up so you still have to spend some time outside of it)

2. make slowdown faster

3. make bullets limited so the player can't just spam them

4. (imo the best way) add scoring based on how many bullets used and seconds of time taken total, with bullet time NOT slowing the timer down or the amount of slowdown used (or both), which adds a lot more replayability to the game and incentivizes you to not spam bullets and slowdown

Wonderful visuals, the CRT fits the vibe so perfectly, and the UI and menus are just so professional. At first I thought it was awfully challenging, but then I noticed the slow mo mode. That was thoughtful to include! I also want to point out to everyone that this game allllmost had a visual novel component, and that's so hilarious to me that I feel you deserve credit for it even if you ran out of time lol. Very fun and cute game!

Cool game ,  bullet time feels a bit too powerful , feels like katana zero , nice job

Took me a second to get accustomed to the controls but then it was smooth sailing. I love a bullet time game, I think it would be really cool to have a speedrunning timer to encourage players (me) to not constantly be in slow-mo. Great music, fun art. Hope you never harm any silly guy ;)

This is one of my favorite games this jam! Super easy to understand, and super fun to play. The retro vibe is really nice along with the music. I would recommend customizing the buttons rather than using Godot's default ones, as it would help them fit the design of the rest of your game. I think faster camera movement might also help. In the last level, I had to force myself to go slower in order to not go out of the camera. Aside from that, the game was really fun, and I'm looking forward to there being more levels added!

Loved the gameplay, very much reminding me of super hot. Look forward to seeing this worked on more. More levels and more weapons please ;)

Good game, great job!! I liked the artstyle, especially the CRT filter, and the mechanics seem quite polished. I can imagine this being expanded into a very interesting game. Maybe some speedrun mode and increasingly challenging levels in the style of super meat boy and the like. Anyway, congrats!

Very interesting concept with a great execution!
The only thing I feel was missing was a level timer. Without it there was no point in not using the slowed down time - all the time. Maybe integrate a star system that also takes into account how many shots you have fired and players will be compeled to replay the game many times over.

I like the simple but fun concept of this game. It was enjoyable executing a badass bullet-time sequence. I think that it's a bit to easy to fling yourself off-screen, which isn't helped by a slightly buggy camera system (especially in the last level). Overall though I like the style and ideas presented. Good work!

I like the concept, but the controls felt weird. It felt more like a reaction game than anything else, because there was no bullet time. Just move the mouse as fast as possible. The graphics and audio were great though. Nice submission!

Developer

Thanks for playing! If you are referring to bullet time as slowing time, that mechanic is in the game with the right click

The idea for the game is really cool, and I do like the artstyle a lot. The tutorial broke for me, but it seems like using Firefox fixes the issue.

As for the main levels, something that bothered me was that collisions didn’t impact the gun’s velocity. It would just slide off walls and keep moving at the same speed after. I also think adding some more restrictions to the player (like limited fire rate or a cooldown on the slow) would make the design feel tighter. As it is, I could spend all my time in slow-mo and spam bullets until they hit, which trivializes a lot of the challenges.

There’s definitely potential in this idea, with a few tweaks and bug fixes this could absolutely be one of my favorites.

Really nice and fun! I am not expecting the game to be that good but you've proven me wrong. I like the pacing of the game a lot, with the time-slowing mechanics and really fast non-slowed real time it really gives me the vibe of Super Hot. I love that game so much. I also really like the quick resets you've done. In games like these, long downtime due to resets is never a good idea and I think you've nailed it.

A small critique is that I really hope the level graphics are a bit better, maybe some tile sets to convey the scenery, and this will definitely enhance the game quite a lot. Maybe consider doing limited bullets challanges as well? It sounds nice.

Anyway, this is really good I think, so keep on the good work!

Really fun game. I like the shooting backwards to propel yourself mechanic, and the slow down is a lot of fun to use. I had a great time playing thru this!

Right off the bat, awesome CRT filter and logo effect. It looks awesome!

I really like the gameplay. Like, a LOT. Kicking yourself off with bullets and going everywhere while also being able to slow time. It's just so well put together and flows super nicely!

The sound effects are super satisfying, and I really appreciate the fact you didn't put an ammo limit. Just lets the player have fun shooting away!

A random suggestion I have of something for the future is a timer for speedrunners!

Everything here is just really good, and I would love to see this expanded into a full game. This game's sick!

Nice game! I think you could expand the concept with either limited number of bullets or a max timer to complete the levels
