I loved the art! The sound went really well with the visuals!

The artstyle is sooo good! I really really love the backgrounds!
The webgl build didn't worked for me. I couldn't progress past the first spikes. (And spamming space didn't let me progress past the introduction text :x)
But the standalone version worked! The jump was a bit buggy so it was super hard for me to make it through. But props for the polish! It looks very nice!
WOW! I love the art style, it looks like something out of a storybook! the music and the sound effects go great with the art style. The level design is super beautiful and creatively done, it's really amazing what you have created in such a short time. It's immediately obvious that you're a good team! :))
In Terms of art a music, this game rocks! it looks and sounds great and its really enjoyable.
but in terms of gameplay it kinda lacks, the movement isnt the best and the game mechanic is pretty unoriginal and repetitive, Dont get me wrong, i enjoyed the game, i just felt like there could be more work put into it.
good job anyways!
And the price for the best art goes to... *drumroll*
As a programmer, seeing art like that amazes me. Whoever did that, there's no doubt that you will make it far in life (if you haven't already of course haha).
The music / ambient fits perfectly and is very pleasant to listen to, even on multiple loops. This is the kind of music i'd listen to besides zelda compilations, if you ever make a 1 hour lofi remix of this, please message me your bank details ahaha
For the gameplay, the jump button is a bit buggy, sometimes it has a delay, sometimes it doesn't react at all... The "climb the tree" mechanic... It works, but making your character go up or just putting a climbing animation would've made it a lot better, this feels like it's a last second solution (also, spamming too fast makes your character fall down instead of going up).
The idea with the corpses was the first one I had when the theme was announced, although I thought that it would be a bit too simple, seeing someone that pulled it off is satisfying.
Sorry for the giant review ahaha great game guys! great game.
No worry I absolutely love to see people enjoying our game and writing so much structured and helpfull comments :D
I'll answer the last paragraph because it's my fault xD. We did not playtest a lot this game, you were right the climbing plant was a mechanic completely bugged at the end normally you just had to press the space. But at build or maybe just before I messed it up ;-;. The jump activate itself when the spacebar is released just a line to fix but its too late x).
Thanks for all of your compliments tho :D
I think it goes without saying that the polish was maximized in this entry ;) However, in terms of originality and gameplay, I fear it did a bit worse. The idea of using your corpses is already pretty common and something I see with a lot of games like this is that it's very frustrating whenever you see a spike, because you know you have to jump into it and redo the entire level again. One simple fix is to divide the levels up more, so that way the main mechanic becomes a puzzle mechanic and not an annoyance.
I'm sorry to disapoint you and learn you that but the game is already divided into multiple puzzle ^^'. Just after the first spike you pickup an item and normally a logo of the middle mouse button appears. By holding it you get to place a checkpoint, they can be placed anywhere on grass. Sorry you had to enjoy this game without knowing how to place the checkpoints and redoing the level in his entierity.
nice game. At a few spikes i could be killed even if there was a dead body on top. A checkpoint would be nice as well, because after a time i get boring to go through the whole level over and over only to die once. But other than that is't one of the best games so far.👍
When you pickup the item at the start and it should have told you to press the middle button but thats maybe a bug and it didn't show up for you, by pressing it you can place checkpoints it would have been way easier ;). The body may not be stack up on the spike if you are lagging so thats maybe why... Thanks anyway for the comment, I love seeing people liking the game :D.
Even if its not the first time i see the idea of using of your corpses to continue the level the gameplay feels nice, the graphics are cute and almost 0 bugs!
Just gotta say that when i release the spacebar the character also jumps and was a bit frustrating at first
I loved the art and sounds!
Level design could use some more work, the vertical spike level had too many forced deaths and no checkpoint in it.
Unfortunately, I found a bug on the elevator, I set the respawn point on it, moved the elevator, but the circle didn't move with the elevator. I couldn't do anything but fall.
Hey great work here! Amazing visuals, simplicity and mechanics. Great job on capturing the theme! It makes it clear at the start what you're intending to do for the rest of the game. My only problem was the respawn part, why would you make me go all the way back each time? It takes the fun out of the game somehow :( Maybe progress the spawning checkpoints with the game? That would also fit the theme well. Good job!
Amazing! Love the hand drawn art style! And the music pairs so well with it!
I'd appreciate it if you took a quick look at my game!
Wowie! That was amazing! It's feedback time!
Music and SFX
Gorgeous! It was so peaceful and relaxing! I absolutely loved the music! Also, the sound of the player walking in the grass was such a nice touch!
Gameplay
Super cool concept! I really enjoyed it a lot! I do recommend something that will help make your gameplay shine even more, however. Make it where the player only jumps when the space bar is pressed down, not up. Another thing is adding text or images to show the player the controls. The beginning 'A' and 'D' images were perfect. They told the player right away how to move. On the other hand, I played the entire game without using my sigil power until the end when I had to go to the description of the game to see that that was a control. I really wish that I had known about that beforehand. Either way, those are just slight problems that take little away from the greatness of your game!
Art
I dig the style you went for! It was really beautiful! I don't have anything to say apart from good things on this one. Amazing job!
Story
While simple, it was still pretty cool! It gave the player a purpose as to why they're doing what they're doing. Maybe you could have played off of your story by showing that the character was hungry in certain areas, but that's just me trying to find things to give to you as feedback.
Miscellaneous
The font. A mystical-looking font would have really matched the game, especially since we play as a wizard!
Overall
Wow. Wow. Wowie! That was one of the best game jam games I have ever played! You and your team did such an amazing job with the game! All, I have to say is that you shouldn't be thanking us for playing, we should be thanking you for making such a great game. You and your team should be proud of yourselves! Amazing job! (:
Wow me and the team would have believed our games could be enjoyed as mush as you did. We didn't think this would be such a great game. Anyway we wasn't expecting such a description from a player. You feel like its no to us to thank you but I think we all agree to say Thank you for playing and thank you for all this comment that really help us and maybe inspire us to continue this after the game jam.
Thanks 🥰
Absolutely beautiful!!! Music & sound as well as the amazing art really made this such a pretty and atmospheric experience. Can't believe you got all this done at such a high quality in such a short time. Cool level design ideas too! <3
Really love the art!! Great game mechanic too with loads of potential!
