It was definitely fun, quite enjoyable combat. My feedback:

- It felt like bosses are a bit too easy to be stunned, like first boss you can almost chain stun. Perhaps bosses could have like 50% resist to stun for 5 seconds after they were stunned.

- There is a visual glitch with stun effect https://ibb.co/rKBr6WX3

- Ledge mechanic seemed a bit unnecessary, because bosses weren't using it

- It seems, when you stun 2nd boss, it still can attack, dunno if it was intended. Like in stun he could perform his ground slam attack.

Thanks for playing and I appreciate the feedback!  I agree that the bosses are pretty easy to stun but wanted to ease up on the difficulty for the sake of the game jam.

I really like the temporary extra stun resist idea and will definitely add something like that if I were to keep working on this.

For the ledge grab, that was added in really early in development and I didn't really have time to design around having elevated platforms in fights, sadly.

The visual bug I kinda just left in since it didn't really break anything.

The second boss' hit reaction was intended, but it honestly wasn't implemented that well and ended up being misleading to the player.  It probably would've been better to remove it entirely!

Thank you for your feedback!  It means a lot to me :>

Ok, this is absolutely one of my favorites out of this jam! The art is fantastic, the animations are fluid, the music is fun, the controls are smooth and the effects are so satisfying! Bodyslamming the bosses (losers! haha!) felt so good! Such polish, I hope you have plans to make it into a full game! Well done!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for playing!  I would love an opportunity to turn this into a full game someday :>

Very amazing! Super polished and charming, mechanics felt great to use and were sufficiently flashy, however the game was a bit too easy, I was able to beat all 3 bosses my first attempt, and I wish your use of the theme was more front and center, however a very good game all across the board.

Developer

Thank you so much for playing!  I'm also glad you were able to enjoy the game even though you found it too easy.  It was honestly hard to balance the game enough so that most people would enjoy the complete game.  But for the sake of the jam, I decided to tune down the difficulty just enough to be enjoyed by most people.  I really appreciate the feedback!  it means a lot to me.

I was able to beat this game. it is well polished overall and was a good experience. Definitely held back back the control scheme, have parry as a main mechanic bound to the c key meant the left hand needs to special coordination to move and parry.

I did notice that a lot of games don't play as intended if anything is mapped to right click on webgl since it does strange things, so maybe it would be difficult to resolve but would be great if you find a nicer way to make it work.

The art is brilliant, all the feedback is there, nice and juicy. The monkey's idle is a little stiff though, may need some squash and stretch, just a little to add to the feel.

You can parry and attack with the mouse i just played and it said that in the tutorial

Developer

Thank you so much for playing!  Oof, yeah i noticed that right click inputs get messed up on webgl depending on the browser, so that kinda' sucks.  I'm really glad you enjoyed the art and animations and I appreciate the feedback :>

I would never in a million years have expected that the monkey game would have by FAR the most satisfying hack and slash combat of the jam, and honestly just from any game jam game I've played in my 3 or so years doing jams. I'm actually stunned by how fluid and impactful the combat feels.

Developer

Thank you so much!  Those words mean a lot to me and I'm really happy you enjoyed the combat :>

Pretty good. I like the bosses move set and design although I am more into Pixley art styles

Developer

Thanks for playing!

I absolutely loved the camera work, the movement, the hitstop, the vfx, the bosses, the dash. Every action you can do as the player felt good to do, and everything complemented each other so well. The tutorial was really well designed and the bosses were all well-telegraphed. I think the theme could have been incorporated into the game a bit more but I was really sad when it ended because I wanted to keep messing around with all of the movement options. An absolute blast.

Thank you for playing!  I'm really glad you liked the game and gameplay!  ;D

Daaaamn, this is an incredibly high-quality project! The animations, moveset, camera work, and effects—all executed at a top-tier level! It's rare to see this kind of polish in a game jam, and it's clear that a ton of effort went into it. Absolutely amazing work!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for playing!  I put a ton of effort into this one and so I'm glad it shows!

Amazing game! I love the navigation. The gameplay is one of the smoothest. Great job!

Developer

Thank you so much for playing!  I'm glad you liked the gameplay.

Great game! Super clean and responsive.

Developer

Thanks for playing!  I'm glad you liked the responsive controls!

Submitted(+1)

👏👏👏 Amazing. This one is among the best. The combat feels tight and responsive. Only nitpick I have is the game needed more spin theme. Like the the monkey spins with his banana for the final attack on the combo. But I really enjoyed this one.

Developer

Thanks for playing!  I'm glad you enjoyed.  Yeah adding some spin animations to the monkey attacks would have been a good touch haha

Cute art style! The combat feels nice and the animations are great. But like Arstotzk said there's a bug where the character animation freezes and the attack effect keeps triggering, the bug usually triggers when doing the final combo attack on the boss. Overall a really fun game, well done!

Developer(+1)

I'm happy you like the game!  Wow that's crazy, I'm not sure What would trigger that sort of bug.  Thank you for letting me know!

Submitted(+1)

Just realized the bug only happens in WebGL build, the Window build works great!

Good game! the combat is awesome. has a nice control and nice visual feedback. Really well done!

Developer(+1)

I'm happy you like the combat!  I spent most of the jam working on the controls and mechanics haha

Submitted(+1)

Amazing game. Sekiro but monkey :D The combat is cool, I liked that all attacks can be parried and even a web ball. Perhaps I had some kind of bug, but some attacks seemed to multiply, this happened both before and after the stager. Such an attack could remove half of the boss’s health, looked like a regular attack, the character animation froze and the attack effect appeared 20-30 times.

Developer

Thank you so much for playing!

Oh boy, that sounds like a crazy bug that neither me or the playtesters found.  Thanks for letting me know!

Submitted(+1)

Cute monkey, parrying feels really good and timing it can be quite challenging. Seeing a cute monkey do extreme executions is awesome.

Muck Mongler was the best boss, but parrying webs was the most pleasant

Developer(+1)

I'm really glad you enjoyed it!  Muck Mongler might also be my favourite too

VERY underrated game! I loved the combat and the visual effects. I am Simi's biggest fan now

Developer(+1)

Thank you for playing!  Simi appreciates it haha

How funny the final banana combo is !! I really enjoyed this game so far, juicy combos, good bosses behavior, straight forward and comprehensive level design, I will replay for sure !!

Developer(+1)

Thank you!  The lowest time a player has teached so far is 2 min 43 sec which is crazy!

Submitted(+1)

Pretty cool game, you play as monke and kill monke guardians with a big banana, good art, well designed bosses, and nice music, great job!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much!  I'm glad you enjoy the monke

Submitted(+1)

Great game! I really liked how satisfying the heavy attacks are and the executions. The boss behavior was also very enjoyable as well, and when you get the hang of parrying and dodging their attacks it’s pretty fun! Good job on the game.

Developer(+1)

Thank you soo much for playing!  I'm glad you had fun :>
