Woohoo! Fellow Godot devs unite!

Really cute game, with a lot of potential! The core gameplay loop is fun, and the characters are very cute! I love the concept of being a blacksmith for a cat village fending off the nefarious rats. Would love to see this expanded, with different kinds of weapons and enemies. Great work!

Fun game and good interpretation of the theme. I ran into a bug where i had one rat left who wouldn't attack, and my cats wouldn't attack him either, so i was softlocked. Other than that though very good. I liked setting myself up by prepping resource piles and multitasking to smith or grind while my furnaces where cooking. It took me a few attempts to get the hang of it, but again, i enjoyed it alot.

Developer(+1)

you got the true ending/pacifist route! lol

thank you so much for the feedback and i'm sorry about the softlock :(

Really cool idea and great interpretation of the theme. It's very satisfying to craft 3 start swords and watch your dudes defend against the invasion. Great job on this!

Very nice game loop, spot-on sound effects, and super satisfying to see the defending army grow. Great job :)

It's like overcooked but with swords, nice. Well done!

This is such a fun game! I found it really calming to play, and it was fun discovering the most efficient workflows. The art is great and I liked the music too. Nice job!

It really amazes me that you were able to make this in 1 week.

Really solid gameplay loop will take some time to get used to the controls but once comfortable with, it is hella fun. The music is good not overpowering the gameplay just going with it and the sound are really good and on point.

One feedback from me would be having the same key to maybe drop off the items when I am near no active task and yeah like some of the comments a risk reward mechanism and a bit easier way to make swords in the initial levels. maybe iron easiest to make, diamond harder with much more grinding and hammering.

I got reminded of a game called JackSmith (Jacksmith 🔨 Play on CrazyGames). Try that game out, you will get a load of inspiration for further development

Really solid game. Kudos!!

Developer(+1)

I played a ton of jacksmith this week for inspiration! Thank you so much for the feedback!

Very fun submission with alot of potential, would love to be able to stop mid way through sharpening or using the whetstone, but other then that its a great concept and one I really like!

hmmm i think this was quite flawed honestly. it's essentially overcooked, but with only one recipe, no upgrades, and no possibility to multitask.

i assume there were two furnaces to encourage multitasking, but the fact that making a sword locks you into the process for the entire time means that by the time you finish your first sword, your second iron bar will be destroyed in the furnace.

art was very pretty, sound was great. im very open to discuss this game more with you if you'd like.

Developer

Like we discussed in discord, learning that you can drop items fixes some of those points. A lot of players aren't getting that, even with the text on the screen the whole game. A mini-tutorial could help i guess.

Different recipes and upgrades were on my to-do list, but i couldn't make it in time.

One of my favourite games I've played from the Jam so far! Really tight gameplay loop and cohesive assets. Well done with this submission, it's really well scoped.

My main piece of feedback is that the difficulty increases quite drastically, but that's something that can be adjusted.

I'm looking forward to see where this is taken post-Jam. I feel like including additional crafting options, along with some optional steps (Risk/Reward - Do I craft an improved item or send a normal one out more quickly?) would really make this game shine.

Fantastic job!

Developer

Thank you so much! You gave me a lot of ideas!

Really neat and well polished, well done!

Love the sword making minigames! It does seem like a very tight window to win at the moment, maybe I just need to be better at making swords...

Thanks for sharing with the stream! Here's the VOD to your game: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/2254453937?t=01h23m31s

I don't know if its because I'm on Linux, it kept crashing.

Developer(+1)

the web version? thanks for telling me, i haven't tested in linux yet

Submitted(+1)

Yeah the web version. Couldn't get it to run. Since I haven't played enough to see what's up, I haven't touched the star rating.

Cool game, wish there was more stuff to do besides the swords but I understand due to the limitations

Submitted(+1)

Really cool game! Wish there were upgrades and such tho

Surprisingly effective for the few systems at play.  Very cute designs and solid mini-game.

What a cool little game. So polished and fun! I think it's a great fit for the theme and the pixel art is adorable. As I was playing I did wonder how it feel if there was one extra (optional) step that could make an even more powerful sword, and you'd have to make that decision between giving out a good enough sword or spending longer to make a really powerful one. Overall, I really enjoyed this. Great work!

Developer

It's a very interesting suggestion. Some people also mentioned that the last step could be optional, so you could give dull swords, that do little damage, but can stall the enemies

Once I understood the very beginning the rest was smooth and I really like the simple but interesting mechanic of the sword forging, nice job on that!

I did actually attempt to play then immediately skip this specific submission without rating it, at least 3 separate times (if not more), for some reason. Even with the tutorial on itch.io and the controls in-game, for some reason the very beginning was not easy for me to figure out, so I would quit out of the game immediately and go to another submission. Not exactly sure why, since it's so simple, it's just taking the item from the center and bringing it to one of the forges. For some reason, it only happened to me, especially that many times and so early on in the game, for this specific game only and not any other one, which is odd.

However, in case there might be really be something a bit unintuitive you find out later about the very beginning of the game in particular that might explain why this happened, I mention it here in case.

Very nice job on the game!

Developer

Thank you for the feedback! I really wish i had the time for a proper tutorial

Very solid, simple to understand and play. I feel like the difficulty slope is a bit fast,  but still fun to play!

This game was a blast! The visuals and overall vibe are fantastic. I found the enemies quite tough, which added to the challenge but was a bit overwhelming at times. Great work overall!
