I don't usually play this kind of games, but the art is really great! You also did a great work with the audio of your game!

The text speed it slow for a game about reading.

I love visual novels, the vibe is really good. I felt that the dialogues can be little slower so I can read faster and move on. The story and dialogue progression is very well done. Well done!

I'm not usually into this type of game, but the art was great, and the music and sound design were very well done. I would have liked the text to be skippable, where clicking the screen once could finish the text automatically, allowing you to read it all at once without waiting. Also, there wasn’t much combat or gameplay in my opinion, although the dialogue was really well-written. Just my opinion, but overall, well done and good luck!

Feedback (things missing / I would like fixed):

- Dialog speed: The dialog was unraveling rather slowly and worse for that there was no button to skip to a fully uncovered dialog, which is a nice quality of life thing.

- Friction: Character had friction against walls which just doesn't feel great when jumping up on objects.

- Not much to do: The game doesn't really feature any choice or active gameplay, so it's more like reading a book of dialogs rather then playing a game.

Very innovative way to go about the theme! I really like visual novels and this one was no exception.

One improvement that you could make is to make a setting for the text speed, and also not skip to the next text when you press the button, but rather finish this text so you can read faster.

The story was kinda sad and I really liked that. The storytelling is pretty good for 1 week so keep going!

Great job! Sorry I rushed through it on my stream!  I reviewed it on my stream:

Developer(+1)

no worries on the rushed aspect the fix to skip the text animation is coming!

The assets fit really well with the vibe of the game! It would be nice if the continue/space would first show the whole message if it was writting it, and only then skip, so players could read faster.
The visual novel inside a plataform/action model is a very interesting concept, it left me wanting to explore the whole city!

Developer(+1)

yeah that fix is coming as soon as I can send updates to the game oversight on my part to add a skip animation!

It's not my kind of game, but I think it could work if you add some player actions. For example, you can choose a path.

I also think the texts could have been more summarized or faster.

Still great work! :D

The music is really good.. Coul you maybe share the link to it? :D

Now coming to the game, the game fit the theme perfectly. Loved the buildup to the war, the emotions of ppl, the king, the relations between them. It's so good. Really liked the theme.

Would suggest to display the text a bit faster or just show the text from the start. In long dialogues, it becomes a bit annoying but I was able to pull through since the dialogues and conversations were well written. The art was also nice and the background was made well.

Kudos!! Made a great story :)

fun game, good job!

Pretty cool! The combonation of the text being slow and characters having really long dialogue was annoying but cool idea great work :)

Text being slow would be the only feedback I have, otherwise the character sprites and music is great!

Great work!

I liked the pixel art and characters!

Good job!

I like the idea of a 2D platformer mixed with a visual novel :) But even though i get that this is a visual novel, I feel like the dialouge with the citizens went on for way too long. I feel like it would've helped if the text didn't slowly write itself on the textbox and instead just popped in to let the player read at a faster pace. But I enjoyed the art and general aesthetic. Good job!

Nice story and feel to this game! I'm not sure if you intend this to mostly be a visual novel style or have more action adventure, but the player might feel they have more of a part in the conversations if you occasionally give them a multiple choice options, where they get to pick the next thing that is said. You could still have a linear story, but you'd have a little bit more immersion. Anyway, this is pretty well done so far, will be interesting to see what you do with it in the future!

Liked the writing. The jumping as well as interaction mechanics were very clean.

I think to improve it, the dialogue during the game could be skipped to the end of what the person has to say, then continue. Currently the only option is to just skip the line entirely before it even finished typing out. It would be better if it was possible to, on continue, automatically type out the whole line instantly. After it has typed out, then go to the next line of dialogue when pressing continue again. Other than that, nice job on this!

WOW! Amazing visuals and felt great to play. I do feel like the dialogue system could use a touch-up, but other than that this is a great game! I honestly wouldn't have been able to tell this was made for a game jam if I didn't already know it was.
