Really nice game! I, like everyone else below me, loved the pixel style! (only thing is that enemies are a little bit hard to notice). The take on the theme was super cool and I liked the multipurposed scrap balls. I wonder if there could have been something else too, like another enemy or a shrinking platform? I'm not sure. Either way, this is super impressive for a 48 hour jam!

I really hope to add more to it, it feels like there's still a lot more I can add to flesh out the depth and more tech to be messed with to really pull everything out the visuals and feel of the game!

Thank you a bunch for the feedback! I'm doing my best to compile everything down, it helps me a ton :)

I like this pixelated aesthetics. The movement and the scrap condensation mechanic is pretty funky and looks pretty cool. Though I'll admit, I couldn't get past the first score points cus I died a lot.

Developer(+1)

Thank you for the feedback! I'm happy the visuals and main mechanic landed so well for you :)

Hopefully I can dial in the difficulty to be more hard but fair rather than unfair and hard in later versions

Submitted(+1)

the reloading mechanic is interesting and the art reminds me of minecraft in the nether haha, cool game!

Developer

Thank you for giving it a go and thanks for the feedback!

Very cool aesthetic, love the pixelating shader. Gameplay is kind of reminiscent of Devil Daggers. Wish there was a bit more feedback to indicate where enemies were, but maybe that was an intentional design decision. Overall, great work!

Developer

Thank you for the feedback! I wanted the enemies to be a little hard to track to keep you on your toes, but the way it is right now is very unintentional hahah It was a problem I was aware of about half-way through, but didn't get to fully address outside adding spawning particles. Definitely my biggest issue that made it into the final build

Amazing visual style! Looks and plays great! A little bland on the gameplay side, but this is a game jam, so it's understandable.

Developer

Thank you! Yeah, I'd love to be able to expand down the line, I think there's tons I can play with to make the game more interesting and flesh out the world :)

I really like the warm & grungy look of the game, the gathering mechanic was interesting & quick to grasp! I wish that my fov was a bit wider, so I could live a little longer, that or having some sort of indicator that giant spheres are now attracted to me and will kill me. Lol. If you're considering doing further development, music & sfx would also ofc be *chef's kiss*

Over  all this was a fun game & interesting concept, congrats on the great work! If you have the chance, please review our game as well! (:

Developer

Thank you for the feedback! I really want to take my time making a fun soundscape for the game, I think most of it will be recordings of me hitting various metal objects with spoons hahah With proper spawning noises, flying hums, and indicators. I think I'll be able to smooth down the "how was I supposed to know there was an enemy spawning right behind me?" problem a bit hahah

I loved your game's design and mechanics! I hope y'all can keep working as a team and crank out something awesome :)

Submitted(+1)

Hahahaha yes I think that should help with it for sure, if you really want to go for broke some sort of fire burning or perhaps industrial sound for the smelters would be super cool.  Thank you so much!

The game has a great look and I love the gameplay! Awesome job!

Developer

Thank you for the kind words!

Submitted(+1)

Oh it looks so good! The main mechanic is a very weird and original way of pacing progression. Good job!

Developer

Thank you! Glad to hear you enjoyed the aesthetic and appreciated the funky melding mechanic!

Submitted(+1)

The game aesthetic looks cool ! Which game engine did you used ?
Field of view could maybe be a bit wider to be able to see the sneaky balls coming toward the player.

Developer

Thank you!

I used Unity and wrote a custom render pass to achieve the pixelated grunge visuals :)

That's actually a really good point, I'll test things out with a wider FOV and see how things look!

Submitted(+1)

I loved pixelated graphics of this game and  i liked the mechanics as well.

Developer

I'm really happy to hear, thank you for playing!

Really interesting idea of the "joining together" being interpreted as "compressing" the metal scraps. There's also a neat dual purpose mechanic with the scraps being used as your weapon and the way you score.

I love the low-poly art style and orange/brown hues for a colour palette! It makes it visually distinct from other first person games :)

Developer

Thank you for the kind feedback, I really appreciate it!

I had a lot of fun with this one visually and mechanically, just wish I could have play tested with others hahah

Submitted(+1)

Very creative and visually interesting! A bit too difficult from the beginning, though. Maybe the game could start with slower enemies? Other than that, I think it's a pretty fun game : )

Is there any chance you could tell me how you made this pixelated style? Is the game 3D with a filter or something like that?

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! I'll be sure to try and play test some variants to see what fits the game the best. Perhaps two variants of the bots one fast and one slow and then I can start things off easier like you're saying. I'll give some things a shot!

So the effect is achieved by combining four different parts: low-poly meshes, black and white textures ( with normals ) made in Substance Designer, pixelation, and a gradient that is sampled based on the brightness of the pixelated texture's pixel. I achieved the latter two by writing a custom render feature and queueing it "AfterRendering" to act as a post-process. There's some other tertiary things I added and changed to really sell the effect, but that's the basis of it :) I'd like to flesh it out more and then release it to the public in some form or another. I had to re-write almost half of it in the last hour to fix a build related bug in the custom feature, so it's not super stable hahah

Cool concept, nice visuals! The enemies where kinda hard to kill :o Maybe you need some kind of radar to see from which side an enemy is coming or and indicator that points toward an incoming one. Overall really cool! :)

Developer(+1)

Thank you, loved you game so I'm happy to see your feedback here!

A radar is actually a really good idea! Might be a bit tricky to implement effectively (not be a distraction), but I will certainly look into some form of heads-up. Maybe a ring that grows vertically in the direction of enemies or screen edge effects, much to try hahah

Submitted(+1)

Very nice visuals, I really liked the pixelated style! The combat was a bit hard because I couldn't really see the enemies coming, but again very nice game!

Developer

Yeah, readability is the next big thing I'll be working on when carrying on this game, I definitely agree.

Thank you for the feedback!

Submitted(+1)

I like the gathering effect so much and the tossing part too, the color scheme is another big thing! Would love to see how far you can take this to.

Developer

Thank you for the playing! After all the positive reception to the art direction and mechanics (outside combat due to needing more balancing), I definitely will be continuing!

Happy for the feedback :)

Submitted(+1)

I love this pixelated style! Adds so much to the mood. I kinda  just wanna explore a world that looks like this and not bother shooting anything hahah

Developer

That's a good idea! Maybe I will make a short spin-off game set in a more exploration/adventure-y world next :)

Thank you for the feedback, it means a lot!

Submitted(+1)

This game is so awesome! The atmosphere and gritty graphics make this game stand out. I do think the enemies should be slower or have some sort of windup, but other than that I'd love to see more!

Developer

That means a lot coming from you, I really enjoyed your games style! I'll be polishing up the gameplay and improving movement to hopefully fix the issue with the enemy speed. I really appreciate the feedback, it's helping me so much to understand how to make this game more enjoyable for everyone!

Thank you!

Submitted(+1)

First off, wow I love this style! The color scheme adds so much to the mood. Gameplay-wise, if the enemies were slower and easier to notice, it would be improved immensely. Hope you continue this game, some balancing could really make it shine!

Developer

I will definitely be continuing this game, I plan on reworking the movement to allow jumping to accelerate you without needing to strafe jump. I hope that will help everyone enjoy the game more :) I want to polish a lot more based off everyone's feedback and provide a more enjoyable experience

Thank you for the feedback!

Submitted(+1)

The game has fun gameplay, but could use a little tweaking, and sound may have improved the general experience. The visuals are also very nice. This is one idea I think could be explored beyond the Jam! Overall, solid entry.

Developer(+1)

I'm kinda considering expanding a bit now hahah

Thanks for the feedback!

very cool concept and the art looks very neat

the enemies are a bit too hard to spot though

and they moove a bit too fast

Developer(+1)

One of my big regrets was not making more time for the spawning effect and giving the enemies a proper glowing material to make them stand out a bit more.

Thanks for the feedback!!
