Glad to see you found the time! Thank you for feedback! Glad you liked it.

Really nice game and lovely game idea. and the art and animations were amazing.

Feedback:

I think there needs to be a tutorial as you load in after have to waste time reading the text. Also the game is way too hard (or maybe im js bad haha) as they would just completely surround you maybe lower their speed.

Overall solid game!!

Developer(+1)

Yeah, that's definitely where I should bring my attention next time :) Complexity and player tutoring :) Oh yeah, and place visible borders if you have any :)

Submitted(+1)

Well first of all I hadn't notice you were takeing part in the jam :D. But for the feedback I liked it, I don't think I fully understood the intricacity of the building mechanics, would be cool tho if there would be different kinds of blocks, The hard borders kinda throw me off because you can be sometimes blocked by your own blocks a soft border (one that just pushes you more the further you go into it) would be cool. The sfx and visuals were nice but I would love the basic guns to be a little more equel as sometimes it swapped me from the shotgun or smg to the penetrating one and I was kinda screwd, also the spawning of player could do with some tweeking as not once I was spawned inside of the enemy. Also I don't know if it was said already but the wave counter at the end doesn't reset between playthroughs.

Developer

Glad to see you here! Didn't notice you're part of this jam, too!
Thanks for detailed feedback!
Spend too much time trying to find some fun and discover what this game about... So yeah, wasn't very polished around the edges and not all things were made (like visible borders).
About counter didn't reset at the end - I was aware of it but you're first mentioned it. It means what you're the first one who tried to play it after game over screen :) Congratulations!

The storm looked really nice and the shooting controls were also charming and calming.

Developer

It was interesting to hear what shooting controls were calming :)
Thank you for the feedback!

Shooting mechanics feels really good and punchy. My one suggestion would be to show the boundary of the map, I kept getting into trouble when I hit it while being surrounded. Otherwise nice game and concept!

Developer(+1)

Yeah... Funny enough it should be the next thing to do in my check list. But oh well... I had a much shorter jam than it should be :)

Submitted(+1)

What a great concept! I enjoyed the game loop, and spent quite a bit of time seeing how far I could get. Shooting generally felt good; there's a nice variety of weapons. You use screen shake quite well here.

Constructive feedback:

  • Picking up/placing blocks initially felt quite frustrating.
    • Clicking on block-pieces didn't feel very responsive - there were quite a few times that I felt that I had clicked on a block, but it didn't' respond to my click. Expanding the area around a block-piece that's clickable may potentially help here.
    • Due to the lightning shader that surrounds the ship in the air, I initially assumed that I could only place blocks within this area.
  • The loop started to get a bit repetitive after a while: the introduction of new enemies, changing position of the charge stones, different items to place that could be found during Storm Flight, etc., would all help here I believe. I also know this was made within a week, so completely understand why they aren't there!
Well done on a great entry!

Thank you! It's very helpful when people share their detailed feedback!

Thank you! Yours is too :)

Wow I love the concept! Build to fight!

Developer

Thank you. And thank you for bringing my attention to the Seaside Picnic.

Quite a nice shoot em up with a nice set up phase. The first time I played, I managed to place a block in a way, that my character got trapped. But I had a lot of fun in my second try!

I also like how the transition between the two phases is done visually!

Developer

Thank you for stopping by and checking the game!
There were some thought to improve blocks placement and mechanics... But time said - no :)
Transition between phases was how the game started. I didn't want to join the jam, but after making this I thought what I need to make something with it.

Submitted

Thanks for making that game then and I do not mind the block placement - I had a lot of fun playing it :D It was basically just a Game Jam Game quirk which did not distract from the game after I knew it.

Submitted(+1)

At first I don't understand the placing box mechanic (I fight the enemies without blocks hahaha), but I have to say that the game is really cool, powerups really give an extra depth an the idea is creative, keep going!!

Developer

Fighting enemies without blocks could be a valid tactics in some ways :)

Submitted(+1)

it's a bit hard to understand why am i placing the boxes and everything, but it's a solid loop

Developer(+1)

Thanks for feedback! There are plenty of things to improve in my skillset :)

I think to improve it some clarification on the itch.io page could help as the controls given in the beginning are for movement but there's a moment where it looks like the controls don't work, it's not that clear that you should press space first to put the ship down and then start moving around as your character once you get off the ship, but once I figured that out it made sense. Other than that I really liked the graphics, atmosphere and the mechanic was clean and worked really well - nice job on the game!

Developer

Thank for feedback!
Spent some time and wrote a little bit about the game on itch.io to help future players!
Thanks!

The music is too loud and could be lower. The game fits the theme well. I also love the game feel and a little bit of camera shake when shooting. Not a lot of people can use Camera Shake very well.

Developer

Each jam entry should have a slider for adjusting volume and music :)
Glad you noticed shake screen!

My guy! The game was very clean. Love the animations and the gameplay. I now have a lot of questions! What are those creatures, where the game takes place, who is this badass air sailer ?? GREAT game!

Developer

Thanks for feedback! Saw your activity in the others comments as well. Like your vibe!
This lore can be definitely be expanded. Need to try that with my TTRPG campaign someday :)

Submitted(+1)

Super fun and great game loop! I loved the random weapon options, and I liked trying to build a defense from scrap floating by - great interpretation of the theme! Couldn't tell where the boundaries were though, so I died a couple times because I didn't realize I had backed into a corner.

Developer

It seems we both like random weapons as I see from your entry as well :)

Hey Jack. Glad to see your new work in this jam. Finally got to play your game this time. The game feels lonely in the storm, feels like I'm the only one except for the enemies. Styles are great and the gameplay is quite challenging for me but a lot of fun. Congratulations!

Developer

Glad to see you too! Your game was challenging for me as well :)

Submitted(+1)

Really like building the walls and the feeling of the guns. It's hard to tell where the boundaries of the game are. Many times I would unknowingly run into them and take damage from the enemies
Nice submission

Developer

Thank you for your feedback! Make boundaries visible was the next thing to do before I lost my personal available time for game development :)

Submitted(+1)

Fun abilities and combat, visuals when flying were quite cool and the idea was quite unique so well done.

Developer

Thank you for feedback! Visuals for flying is how this game was started :)
