Description
Composed for OST Composing Jam #7, based on the theme "inside my world". Cover image by confidenceChoreographer ( https://www.tumblr.com/the-peculiar-rogue )
A disillusioned pre-teen uses a rainbow bath bomb - that they received for free from a suspicious lady - in a bubble bath one day and finds out that using it transports them to another dimension for a period of time?? That's supposedly created based on their wants, ideals and desires?? Which is literally a dream come true for our main character so much that they get even more bathbombs?? Surely there are no terrible consequences to using rainbow bath bombs frequently right??
Only one way to find out - by making nonograms. Yeah this OST is for one of those nonogram story games.

Tracks
1. my thoughts and dreams
Track that plays during the 'ideal dimension' nonograms! A cute waltz for the child-like wonder and charm of the 'ideal dimension'.
The track has a mostly classical instrumentation with a rather easy-to-follow melody in A1-B1-A2-B2 format. The piano parts are written to mimic a simple piano piece a child could learn to play to reflect the innocence of childhood and nostalgia, which is also why I chose to use a yamaha piano for those parts.
2. water under the bathtub
Track that plays during the "real life" nonograms! A haunting recurring melody for the nonograms that reflects our main character's tragic angsty backstory and loneliness - and why they are so attached to the 'ideal dimension'.
Since the water used for the bubble bath is the key to the 'ideal dimension', the track for 'reality' imitates the dripping of water outside the bathtub. The track sounds ironically dreamy due to the echos and repeating phrases, as it is to portray someone sluggishly waking up from a dream, and lingering in the memory of it, as if unwilling to let go of the experience. The track uses more electronic sound fonts to 'mature' the music, yet still with a yamaha piano to play the 'ideal' motif. Jarringly different style, instrumentation and emotion, yet some things desperately stay the same.
3. even in my ideal world i need more money
Track that plays during the cutscenes in between the nonogram gameplay. A peaceful soundtrack for moments that explain how this strange dimension works, some fluff moments between our main character and the person responsible for the bath bomb, and why our main character still needs to earn money in this supposed 'ideal dimension'. That's where the track title is from by the way.
This track returns to the cute and innocent vibes of the 1st song, since it is used when our main character explores the 'ideal dimension' and finds more information about it. Yet another simple melody with mostly classical instrumentation, with the return of the motif in the second half. The instrumentation in this piece is similar to my thoughts and dreams to create consistency in theme - the principle of the 'ideal dimension' is our main character's reluctance for changes in their life, after all, and what better way to show this than through music style.
Message from the artist
First jam I've participated in! It's a bummer that I only had like 2 days to work on this jam since I was incredibly busy beforehand. Would've liked to make more tracks or expand on the current ones a little more, but oh wells! Still was fun making them. Looking forward to listening to everyone's submissions :3
Theme
How does it fit the theme?
I interpreted the theme, 'inside my world', to explore the implications of someone's world, as opposed to the world. What if the world you longed for is so different from the one you lived in, so much that you'd rather stay dreaming of the world that will never come than face the reality you struggle to come to terms with? The difference in 'my world' and 'reality' can be seen through the different styles of the tracks; Some are simple, lively and peaceful, and others sombre and heavy. The use of instruments and reverb to reflect the lack of clarity of a skewed perspective, or classical chamber music arrangement to portray a more straight-forward, more child-like point of view.

Nicely done, sounds great, good quality, compositions is nice you have great ideas. Only thing is midi programmation to look for, the playings sounds perfectly "square" less natural and fluid if you play with velocity not quantize as much in the piano roll to give a more humane feeling I think it will embelish your track immensly. Good job !
Thanks for the feedback!! Will keep this in mind when tweaking future tracks :D Sorry for the late reply ^^;;
Really pretty soundtrack! You make some really nice vibes throughout this - the last song in particular reminds me a bit of wind waker (or any zelda lol) with the string rhythm. I do agree that there could have been more dynamic variation, as it did feel a little...I guess static is the right word?
Either way, fantastic tunes!
Thanks for the feedback! Sorry for the late reply ^^;; But yeah, I agree there could've been more tweaking on the dynamic department
Very nice from the beginning until the end!
Thank! Sorry for the late reply ^^;;
really nice writing! looking at your project page, i really expected you to go a different way with your tracks. however, when i took a listen, i was pleasantly surprised. your tracks are super playful and manage to tell the story at the same time. (if you've seen any of my ratings, you know i'm obsessed with seeing how people's music and storyline correlate, and you've done an incredibly creative job at this!!!)
great job! keep it up!
Thanks!! Sorry for the late reply ^^;;
Really nice piano writing :) Sounds like you'll be just fine for the Animal Crossing theme on alternative soundtrack jam. Really cute, effective writing!
Thankss!
As someone else already mentioned, it gave me strong Animal Crossing vibes. A very cute and interesting project: the interplay between the strings and piano is beautiful, and the use of pizzicatos is excellent (although I might make the string sound a bit more prominent). Great job, well done🫡🙂.
Thanks~ I really love string instruments, so I also did feel like I underutilised them this time. In a timeline where I had time to make more tracks there would've been a string orchestral track, alas.
This was so nice!!!! I fell in love with how purposeful every single choice was according to the little blurbs you wrote, and paired with some lovely writing you really sold the story and emotions you were trying to generate to me very well. My one piece of feedback is to experiment a bit with less you instrumentation but the sound of it, adding a bit of reverb will really help to fill out the sound you have here. Also when you are writing those gorgeous moving piano lines, try making those shorter nots longer or messing around with your vst to create a sustain effect, as that would be more similar to how it is played in real life and will give even more life to your brilliant writing. Great work!
Thankiew!
I really liked the first song ad I also liked how you explained a lot of the instrument choices further than just for the vibes.
Thankss!
This was a really cutesy submission!
I liked the chords and rhythms the piano played throughout the project. Water Under the Bathtub was a good spacey piece that had great usage of the water drums making for a slightly depressing yet happy vibe.
My favorite piece has to be water under the bathtub.
Overall, this was a very solid submission!
Thank you!!
In love with the variations you made in my thoughts and dreams!
even in my ideal world i need more money. But this gave me Animal Crossing vibes and that's all that matter 😜
Well done!
Thank you!!
So cute music. Nice utilisation of motifs.
You need more programation to sublimate your compositions
Thanks for the feedback!!
This is a sweet and appealing soundtrack you’ve put together. There are great structures to your tracks as well and nice subtle ideas. The samples/dynamic controls could be more refined to take this to the next level, but the tracks themselves are really well written, well done :)
Thanks for the feedback!!
Really cute and I liked the lore around the tracks. Super soothing to listen to and interesting compositions.
Thanks!
Loved the cuteness and simplicity of thoses tracks ! If I had one thing to reproach, it would be that you don't use dynamics enough, especially for the piano. But overall, really soothing OST !
Thanks for the feedback! Yeah, I agree the piano could've been more polished. Glad you still enjoyed it!
I love the piano + EP combo, really nice vibe :) Good work :D
Thank you~
This is such an adorable soundtrack! It's simplicity is so fitting for what you are going for.
Hits me in the feels.
If you'd work on more tracks post-jam I'd listen! Life can be busy.
Favorite Track: my thoughts and dreams
Thankss c:
Very beautiful descriptions of the compositions... I love it! Very soulful compositions)
my thoughts and dreams - Candy, cute. Made me smile)
water under the bathtub is a sad, but in turn a sonorous melody! ((((((I love the sound of a drumstick)
even in my ideal world I need more money - Aaaaa flute! I love the flute)
Thankiew!
Cute submission overall, I can definitely see it in a Jupiter Picross game. Really nice touch using a handpan/steelpan in your instrumentation in "water under the bathtub".
Thanks~
The left hand piano writing in "my thoughts and dreams" was nice. I also liked how "water under the bathtub" starts with open chords. It really gives off the tragic vibe.
Thanks!!
This is a fun listen. "Water under the bathtub" is super dreamy. The ambience reminds me of something out of a Pikmin game. Great job with this OST.
Thank you!!
