What do you like about your game?
This game put me to the test. I loved that I was able (I hope) to convey the creepy/confusing/disturbing atmosphere, main feature of any psychological horror, without resulting into a pure scary horror. I can say that I feel quite proud (and exhausted) of all my work. Also Acerola's videos motivated me to dive deeper into shaders, so I wrote a custom one that was very helpful in order to setup all the environment correctly. Good luck to everyone! :3

Nice, very cinematic, enthralling, very effective use of quite simple assets, overall feels very polished and feels like it had a clear and well realized vision.

Very nice game! Love it. If something is good and short, it's twice good.

The visuals were top notch, I really liked the art style! The minigame is very confusing without any sort of guidance, even though I think no guidance fits this art style a lot better. It can be hard to get the ball rolling again when it stops.

Overall I think it is a really cool game with a great atmosphere, just that the minigame could use a little more refinement. I think making some sort of way to get the ball moving again easier would be better than adding controls on the screen since it fits the art/atmosphere better to not have controls on the screen.

The 3D models are simple and consistent throughout which is nice. Presentation is extremely well done I think that part is the most developed part, the animations, the smoothness, the UI, and the camera movement.

The physics part is cool and I think there's a lot that can be expanded from there.

Developer(+1)

Hi, thank you so much for your feedback, I indeed focused more on polishing the game and having it look "smooth" in a way, than on adding more content. I'm glad you enjoyed the physics part, as it is one of the parts I polished the least, as I didn't have much time. I will improve it and develop it further in the future.

Again, thank you so much, I appreciate your words a lot! <333

Loved this. Wonderful, tense atmosphere - perfect for any psychological horror game. So glad I played! Keep up the great work.

Hi, thank you so much for your feedback, I'm glad you enjoyed it! Always keep it up! <333

I liked the atmosphere! Loved how the next stages were introduced in darkness, appearing after turning around
Took me a while to figure out the mini game, but after some trials I got to the end 😅
Tbh I didn't expect the ending (and maybe I'm not sure why did that happen) but I was definitely intrigued with the story when food started to appear
Overall very well polished game, good job!!

Developer(+1)

Hi, thank you so much for trying it out and giving me some feedback, I'm glad that you enjoyed it overall. The story begins with the character feeling hungry, and searching for some food, the fridge is empty and the supermarket shelves too (almost, he only finds some milk), then goes to the cashier and she treats him badly. Then the character, once returned home, tries to remember all he did, in order to understand why he got treated so badly. It's here that you have some flashes of what really happened. The character suffers from psychosis/schizofrenia, and imagines things, the fridge was full of food, as well as the supermarket shelves, he wasn't hungry of normal food, he was searching for something more "tasty". In the end he realized that he killed the cashier in order to eat her and panics, but then his true twisted nature kicks in, calms down, and starts the buffet :3.

I hope it clears your mind on the story, sorry if it's not very understandable. Again, thank you so much for giving it a go! <3333

Ah, everything's clear now, thank you!!

Hello milk brother!

What a great game. It has a wonderful atmosphere and I really like the pacing of the story.

The mini game was a bit confusing. Maybe a little tooltip would have been good.

Developer (1 edit)

Hi, thanks for playing it and giving me some feedback! I didn't have time to polish the minigame unfortunately, and it came out a little bit too hard/unintuitive. I will surely fix it in the future with more time. Thank you so much for your suggestions and for letting me know your thoughts on the game! Good luck with yours milk brother! <33333

Submitted(+1)

Visuals are really well done.

I'm not sure if I really "get" the story.

Towards the end, the text was changing at the same time as the cashier, so I went to read at the same time as the image was changing, and I missed it like 5 times in a row.

I'll echo the mini game being really unforgiving. I did beat it fairly quickly though, I think that it's fairly intuitive. The ball just needs to drop faster when you click.

....I also think fewer periods at the start of sentences.... lol

Developer(+1)

Hi, thank you for leaving a comment letting me know your experience :))). Unfortunately the minigame was left quite unbalanced as I really didn't have much time for that, but I'm glad you don't suffer from skill issues and beat it quickly (marry me) :3.

For the text........yea..........I should use less.........dots................

Apart from being silly, I wanted to give some dialogues a slow pace, and planned to do so by implementing a dialogue system capable of adjusting the text speed. But I didn't have much time for that either, so I thought of using dots, and at the beginning it worked quite well, but then my hand slipped just a tiny tiny bit, and suddenly my dialogues became full of dots like my face at 14 :(.

I will make sure to fix it in the future, so it doesn't feel so clunky to read.

Hope you enjoyed it overall, if I missed something from your comment feel free to tell me, it's almost 3am for me and I'm fried. Thank you sooo much again for your feedback and good luck! <333

Wow, really awesome atmosphere! I fucking suck at that minigame half way through, but I stuck it out becuase I wanted to see where the story was going, and it was a pretty interesting ending! I wasn't a huge fan of the writing, I think it would have been a bit more engaging with about half the dialogue cut, especially the "...b-but..." stuff. You don't need to detail the exact thoughts of the protagonist at all times, let the player sit and think about what's happened instead of telling it to them! I did quite enjoy the animations and the overall story and vibe, so other than some quirks with the writing, I really enjoyed and thought that this was a really great entry :)

Developer(+2)

Hi, I'm glad you enjoyed the overall atmosphere and mood of the game. For the writing, I wanted to keep a slow pace in order to reflect the state in which the player lays, but my hand slipped off :/. I will keep in mind your suggestions next time, thank you so much for your feedback, it means a lot to me! <33333

Good luck! <3

Simple, precise, well polished, a nice entry for sure. Love your work on the UI in general. In particular the buttons (normal/focused) and the great idea regarding the dialog panel effect to indicate the avatar turns hungry/crazy. This prototype is missing one thing to me. A music to support the mood.

Developer

Hi, I'm very happy you enjoyed it, it really means a lot to me, I didn't find any fitting music for my game during development, so I stick with a simple ambient/background sound. It gave more of a "voidy" (new term invented by me rn) mood.

I will make sure to find some fitting music, I would have loved to have one supporting the overall atmosphere, unlucky ;((

Thank you so much for your feedback <3333

Submitted (5 edits) (+2)

yep thats a banger i loved it :D

i didnt really have the time to explore the “spacious” aspect of the void in my game so im already really happy to see a game that does exactly that.

staring into the void, walking away from the fridge and seeing it get smaller and smaller gave a sense of wonder mixed with dread.

i loved it, and wouldve appreciated for “something” to be out there, rewarding my curiosity (but it really isnt needed and may be a bad idea on my part haha)

the presentation was perfect for what the game was (probably) trying to accomplish. the lighting is gorgeous. the sound design is great.

the “breathing” mini-game was a great addition, the heartbeats accompanying it made it so much more cool too !

the only things that could be ““improved”” for me are:

==some parts of the writing, i didnt really vibe with the spoonfulls of “…”

==its short, i want more, it was so good, i want to see the MC spiral down into insanity for longer !!! so yeah, i dont have much bad things to say about it, and the few weaker points i can write about arent even important

it was a really good game, im happy the scares werent jumpscare focused, and yeah, great job ! <3

( the edits on the post is just me trying to add [\n] lines to the thing x< )

Developer(+2)

Hi, thank you so much for trying out my game <333

I actually wanted to add some kind of obscure presence if you walked too far from the main spotlight, in order to make the overall atmosphere much more creepier, and make the short walks from one light to another feel way more intense and scary. Unfortunately I didn't have enough time (kinda sad) :P. I'm planning on developing it further in the future, so it will be a feature at all costs. For the dots, yeah, I wanted to give some dialogues a very slow pace, and I originally planned to code a dialogue system that could handle the text speed, but again, I really didn't have much time and had to find a workaround using too many dots. This is another thing that I will fix in the future for sure, among with adding some more audio clues to the text itself.

I'm glad you enjoyed the fact that I didn't use an actual jumpscare, I think jumpscares are really good at releasing a lot of previously built tension, but I don't like to abuse them (FNAF in a nutshell), so I went for an atmosphere based horror.

Again, I'm really happy you enjoyed it and gave me some constructive feedback, I love when someone shares their ideas and thoughts. Thank you so much and good luck with the jam! Cheers <3333

Submitted(+1)

oooh ok i understand what you wanted to do for the dots, in the future, if you dont want to rework your text tool, something you could do is:

choosing a specific “blank” character (like a #), and (assuming you’re using TextMeshPro) you should be able to change every instance of that character to make it have a black color (or opacity 0) pretty easily

{for example i think you could just get the text string, use .Replace(“#”, “<color=black>#</color>”)}

so yeah if you expand on it in the future ill be sure to see what it evolves into :)

again, well played <3

Thank you so much for the advise, I will keep this trick in mind <333333

The game itself was very pleasing to look at and did give a creepy atmospheric vibe(i like the blue screen computer lowkey that would scare me most irl lol) I could not for the life of me get past the minigame but thats just a skill issue on my part even after reading the notes(i will maybe try and do so at a later date)

Developer

Hi, thank you so much for playing my game and giving me some feedback. I'm sorry you found the minigame part too difficult, I will work on making it way more enjoyable. Also, I agree with you,  blue screen puters are always very scary irl :33

Thank you so much again for trying it out! <33333

Maximum aberrant! Game felt super polished and nailed the atmosphere with the abstract setting. I really liked the occlusion-spawn-in/out mechanic. The calm down minigame was really well done too. Need to recalibrate my rating-o-meter.

Developer(+1)

Hahahaha, thank you so much for your feedback! I'm glad you enjoyed the overall atmosphere, it took me a while to come out with it, it really means a lot to me <33333

Submitted(+1)

That was awesome! The cinematics, sound effects, and atmosphere are very well done. The only suggestion I would have is to make it more clear you have to keep looking around the shelf, because once I saw nothing on it, I thought that I needed to find something in the dark, and it took me a while to notice the milk.

I really liked the little 2D minigame. It feels really satisfying when you get some speed and do these big jumps. The ending of the game is great. I didn't expect that at all and it surprised me in a very good way. Well done!

Developer

Hi, I agree with you, some things are quite difficult to spot, I could've added some simple audio clues for stuff like that, but I didn't have much time to do so. I'm glad you enjoyed the minigame and the overall atmosphere of the game. Thank you so much for playing and giving me some feedback, I appreciate it sooo much <33333

The graphics and animation were top notch. Brilliant little story as well. I did get stuck in the minigame, but reading the tips on the Game Page, helped me out.  Great Game !

Developer

Hi, thank you so much for your feedback, I'm glad you found helpful the tips on the game's page and that you enjoyed the game overall. Thank you so much again for giving me your opinion on it <3333

man i suck at controlling my anxiety xd.

wow, this was really polished and well-crafted! you really nailed creating an unsettling atmosphere that compliments our unreliable narrator/main character's struggles, its very nice! the cutscenes are so well animated, the slow nature of all the movements creates a nice level of anxiety to each motion! the choice of portraying the environment through selective pieces of objects and people in the room really works out well here! it both functions as a way to composite scenes in both an easy to understand way (which helps maintain the flow/pace of the story) and allowed you to create some really nice narrative transitions as well (notably after you look at the fridge and when you go through the product shelf), really great stuff! there's just a lot of really good visual ideas and direction here, from the use of post processing to shift the tone, the flickering moments, and even the change in UI bubbles, all of it culminates together to create an engaging and immersive story!

im not sure if it was a skill issue here on my part, but the anxiety minigame was pretty hard for me xd. kind of reminds of Tiny Wings, an old mobile game, though the hills/slopes are smaller here making the window for successfully sloping down pretty tight. though gravity feels lighter than that game, so it takes less time to gain height, but still took me a couple of tries before i can get it, glad i did though because the conclusion was worth it! also one last nitpick, very minor, i read the vibe of the main character as someone who feels a little delirious and loopy, which shows in a lot of the cutscenes where their head and body motions are slow, but the head bob while walking was pretty fast and rapid which made the vibe feel more fidgety instead, which is a slight difference but noticeable (an example of this is in the top right gif where you're collecting the milk). slower head bobs may have matched the character's mental state a bit more, but this is just an opinion and small nitpick, the overall vibe is still excellently captured in the of the game!

this was an incredibly told and directed story! i can feel the amount of thought and effort that came to creating this, great work!

Developer(+1)

Hi, thank you so much for your detailed feedback <3

I'm glad you liked the overall atmosphere and that you catched even the little details. About the head bob, it's directly generated from the walk animations, and I wanted to match those with the actual walk velocity, so I had to speed up the original animation to do so. I also noticed that it didn't fit quite well the overall mood, but I didn't have much time to fix the problem, so I just ramped down the walk velocity as much as I could. The minigame actually reminded a lot of people of Tiny Wings, and I'm happy about this. I know it is quite difficult, but again, I focused too much on polishing the art and the overall interactions, and had no time to really balance it as much as I wanted.

Again, I'm very happy you enjoyed it, this comments help my self-esteem a lot, thank you so much, good luck with the jam <3333

Very nice visuals and animation. Nice little story. The minigame was very confusing, so I had to go to the main page to check what was missing. Also very creepy and nice usage of audio and lights. The change between what was remembered and what really happened was very well implemented.

Developer

Hi, I'm glad you enjoyed my game, I went for a much shorter playtime but a much more polished experience. I hope the minigame didn't ruin the overall experience that much. I will check you game as soon as possible <33333

Submitted(+1)

Great job with the visual effects and the overall presentation, it was chilling watching things shift and walking through the darkness to different patches of light. The game with the hills reminded me of this old game Tiny Wings I used to play all the time!

Developer(+1)

Hi, thank you so much for your feedback. I'm glad you liked the atmosphere of the game, someone else also mentioned that the waves part reminded them of Tiny Wings. I'm glad I brought you back that memories!

I will check your game as well as soon as possible <3333

Submitted(+1)

Tiny wings is GOATed. Also, awesome :) excited to hear what you think.

Developer

Sorry for the wait, I finally found time to check your game, Tiny Wings may be GOATed, but you ARE the GOAT, crazy work you did, amazing <3333

Submitted(+1)

This is great! I don't know how it happened that I left the shelf and I kept walking and when I turned back it was gone. I was stuck in eternal darkness but I restarted and played the game normally.

Developer

Hi, weird bug, never happened to me, I will playtest some more in order to replicate it and fix it. I'm glad you were able to resolve it <333

Thank you so much for your feedback <33

Wow. Just wow. But frankly I only guessed that I need to fly high after looking at screenshots. It's said : follow the flow. So I thought I needed to follow the line as closely as possible.

Developer (1 edit)

Hi, thank you for playing my game and giving me some feedback. Unfortunately I had no time to adjust the minigame and making it clearer for the player :((((. I'm planning on fixing it in the future, making it more enjoyable. Thanks again for your review and good luck, I'm glad you liked it regardless <33333
