Please share with us the connection your game has with the theme "Tough Choice"?
When you enter a mining run you start with a tough choice that give you both good and bad stats for the run. During gameplay you can choose to play active, idle or a mix. When you unlock abilities, you have to choose when to deploy them. They have a firm cooldown, so you have to apply them at the right time in the right asteroid. All tough choices!
Did you use any third party assets like art or music? If so, which ones?
We used music and sfx from a payed subsription at Zapsplat, but all sfx are edited and combined to achieve custom sounds that fit the game.

We are working on a more polished version of this jam game! Here's some work in progress. How do you like this version compared to the jam entry? Would love to hear your feedback!
Really nice game!
I like that you show the rarity of the cards, that's the first thing I noticed in the game and it felt so good to have, yet it's just a simple thing to add. It let's you think like "Well, I got this uncommon choice, it will not happen often, I should start with this". And so I did :-)
Nice art, relaxing colours and UI.
At first I didn't understand I could destroy with the mouse click as well, I was just enjoying the bouncing ad rolling of the axe, then I notice the Clickaxe icon and I found out later you can upgrade those. Nice!
Finally, one of the first things I thought is that it had the same mechanics as puzzle games like Tetris or Puzzle Bubble. That's when I started to click to see if I could break a block and it worked. Well, the death on unbroken blocks is not there, but I think that you should add it, at least as game option. That would justify more for me the challenge of the game, that at the moment I don't see. Yes there is the challenge of unlocking things, but for me the real fun and challenge would be to don't leave blocks passing the top part of the screen. Try to put this option and play with that and let me know what you think about it.
The game has lots of upgrades and it looks already like a product that is nearly ready to be shipped.I am sure you have a nice game on your hands, you just need to polish and add a few options and you are done!
Congratulations guys! :-)
Thanks for your feedback Biim_Games! It helps a lot with making improvements to our game. We are finishing up the gameplay features, fixing bugs and polishing further to release it on Steam. Are you familiar with the Idle/incremental genre? Within this genre, it's kind of the point that you don't have a fail state. You focus purely on progression. It's a weird genre, I know ;). I had to get familiar with it as well, because the core idea came from Bob (the dev half of Upgraded Studio). However, I like your suggestion of adding a fail state like with Tetris. We will definitely look into it. Thanks a lot!
I am not very familiar with the genre to be honest, because just clicking doesn't seems fun for me without meaningful choices, but yes, some people loves it. I remember years ago a flatmate playing an app that the whole point was to click to get +1 (virtual) dollar. I couldn't understand, and still I don't, the fun on just seeing the number going up without any challenge. Lucky the ones making money with such easy apps to develop! :-D
I think that adding that option and show it as option in a trailer, would help to earn also that type of players that likes Tetris and similar games. So you will have both clickers and "puzzle game" lovers as potential players :-)
Adding the option is just a few lines of codes, but the benefits are why higher in terms of potential players.
Good luck with your full game release! :-)
Absolutely loved it! The gameplay is addictive and satisfying
Thank you for the feedback. The game turned out more relaxing then intended ( luck ).
Fantastic.
Great job on this!
Thank you for the kind words.
This was incredible to play, the level of polishness is on another level!
My smooth-brain-clicker-tycoon-lover probably played this for too long. and that's a good sign
Looking forward for the full release! :))
Thank you for the play. We think we can make this in a full game we keep you posted.
I am not a fan of idle games but this is by far the best one I've come across. The visuals are great, and upgrades open lots of decisions, could see other people really enjoying this. I can tell a lot of time has gone into this
The clicker idle is a niece for sure . I think you love or dislike, like the jrpg grind. Thanks for looking past this and taking the time to write some feedback.
I love the concept, gameplay, art, sound and the insane amount of polish for a 10-day game jam. For me, the greatest strength of Orebits is that you managed to design and implement mechanically and tactically engaging gameplay in an idle game. It gave me similar vibes to when you’re grinding a streamlined old school ARPG or MMORPG.
It also has a bunch of tough choices throughout the game, so it fits the theme. Props
Thank you so much for this feedback. I needed it today. :)
Oh nooo, you guys made it TOO JUICY! This can't be good for my carpal tunnel! Great job, I'll definitely be wish-listing it once it's up on Steam.
I like to make simple games then go to work on the juice is my favourite part.
Having a talented artist help with that :)
I got up to mining 7 asteroids, getting the hammer and unlocking a bunch of research options. The visuals are really good and I like what choices are available, especially like the laser when mining but then there's even more choices like what to research which adds more to the gameplay, overall a really well put together game
The mining laser is also one of my favourites. The ores when rare or hoger are also a good bet to get more research points. The cooldown when full on abilities is super mighty.
I like this type of games. Graphic and functional processing excellent
Thank you for playing our game.
Amazing!
The graphics, sounds, gameplay, all very polished. Solid game. I could see myself playing this on my phone! In fact, that's my only nitpick, I wish I was playing it on mobile as I find tapping less frustrating than clicking. But, that's just a nitpick. Solid entry.
Good luck with the jam.
Thank you for the feedback. Did start with touch controls then the hovers came in and had to switch to mouse controls. Did not have time to do all touch controls unfortunately.
Its pure cocaine! Game is so polished and addictive, it can steal many hours of life. Well done!
Thanks! As long as players enjoy themselves, I'm ok with stealing some hours :D.
Thanks for the feedback!
I have a love hate relationship with idle games .
I love them but they just take much of my time.
Technical things aside, like buttons and features not working, being able to research even if the research icons show that they are locked, game feels super nice. I also did not understand progression until i really dug into game which may be too late for some players. Anyway, broken things in speedrun game making are expected so i wont comment or rate based upon these. Balance is decent and satisfiying for little time you had to tweak it.
What is impressive to me is that you managed to implement more traditional gameplay to incremental game loop and pack it in somewhat realistic setting. I love how you interpreted prestige mechanic as sending resources to earth to gain benefits from it. That being told, having an realistic explanation for three powerups that you choose at the start of every asteroid would be nice touch too. At a glance, they felt like afterthought to fit the theme but in the end, they really spice the gameplay up in a great way. Maybe tie it to sending resources to earth to get better chance at higher rarities and everything would be tied up nicely.
All these different mechanics were mixed in a good way which is pretty hard thing to do, so kudos.
Graphics are sleek and animation is smooth. More detail to UI graphics wouldnt hurt tho.
Choice of ambience music is great. Not intrusive and pleasing. At one point near the end of first asteriod, music stopped and for the rest of the level and i felt so serene just hearing pickaxe hits reverbating through the cave. It felt like a design choice and i expected music to come back evenutally, but level just ended shortly after. If it wasnt design choice, id personally make it one. Having a moment of silence is powerful tool.
Would love to see more from this game.
Now this is a review I can really appreciate. Thank you for all the feedback it’s super useful. The choices on the beginning were only positive we added the negative 1 day before deadline because we did not feel the hard choices. We also had the idea of buying them for ore to make it a hard choices but then it could be skipped .
the idea of also upgrading the choose cards at earth is super interesting we wil definitely look into this.
We discussed the art style and we want it to be more mechanical and dirty.
You can also shoot on the technical things so I know what needs to be fixed or made better .
Super helpful thanks 🙏
Amazing honest feedback! Thank you. Exactly what we are looking for.
This was so good! I love the look of it. It was unique and clever. I would love to see you expand this. Very well done.
Hi there Messmess,
Thank you for playing. And your kind feedback.
We wil continue working on the “gem” in the rough.
If you have any ideas please feel free to share.
The UI is very cool! I know it's hard to do this in C3.
Thank you for your time to comment on our game.
Yes the UI took a lot of our time and there still a lot of flaws in it (ssst).
Very satisfying to play!
Thank you for the feedback I’ll intend to play all remaining games today !
Thanks so much for playing! I’m glad you enjoyed the game. The “difficult choise” is maybe to weak indeed. I’m still refining, so I appreciate the feedback. Think my artist is also happy to hear the graphics and sounds landed well—means a lot coming from players/devs like you.
Nothing, thanks to you for creating these works of art.
We know that video game development is difficult and involves many areas, time, patience and practice in the end.
I am just another developer, I don't do great things today but who knows in the future. Anything here you have me, you can add me and we will keep in touch.
A big hug for both of you.
Very addictive idle clicker game, I can really see this working as a standalone game outside of the jam.
It's a bit light on the theme and I wish progression was a bit faster and more varied. Great game overall!
Thanks for your feedback Federico! You are right on all points. This is a nice test to get some feedback so we can expand the game in all the right directions. If you have any ideas for improvements, please let us know. thanks and good luck with your entry!
Thank you for the feedback. We tried to quicken the game play a little to less for a jam i think. But then again if you have a few hours enjoy if you like idle/clicker games.
